the house you get in dragonborn is better then all the house

Post » Sun Feb 03, 2013 9:42 pm

You are informed, at the end of a questline, that you have access to a bed and chest (IIRC), but this doesn't appear to be the case in reality. (Oops!) But the steward's bed is usable, provided the steward isn't using it at the time. I don't know about storage, I'm afraid to try it.

What the guy underneath this said. v v v

I think he was on about the giant mushrooms, I remember hearing that the was two houses in dragonborn one at raven rock and one at the telvanni place on the other side of the map.

Hell no. Its a deccent base of operations for solsteim, good place to store junk but inhospitable. Too damn dark and no support for families. They went back and fixed vanilla houses for family support but the brand new ones AFTER hearthfire don't support my kids. Wth is up with that?

Hear you there. I love my HF houses, especially since I could do them "my way."

Same.

The main HF house I live in has a Kitchen, Storage, and Greenhouse rooms. I like them quite a lot!

Amen to that. Best houses going. It took me 5 hours to move all my plunder from Whiterun, Riften and Markarth into the 3 houses and get my plunder the where I wanted it. lol

Excluding the HF houses, I think it is probably my second favorite house (after the house in Markarth). It's nice having the enchanting table, alchemy table, forge and smelter all in one easily accesable area and the decor is completely unique to the locale.

It does get a little lonely though given that you don't get a house carl with it and from what I've read you cannot move your family there. Definitely a vacation home away from home.

All in all though I'm quite happy with it though.

I thought the icey terrian would be suitable for the sorceress's palace, as in Obilivion,
Ahhh..The Frostcrag Spire. That does jar some fond memories. Quite possibly my second favorite player home of all time. It's definitely my most used. However, it does fall just shy of the top pole.

That spot will always be mantled by the truly epic...Battlehorn Castle. I have yet to find anything close to that caliber in the vanilla game. I think they utterly left that to the mod community.

For me, housing in Skyrim really amounts to a big organized storage container. As well as, a place to level the crafting skills effectively. That is what makes the manor such an attractive niche. Having said that, it does not grant the extra experience perk as from a "purchased property".

None the less. It is a very welcomed addition to the game. I am glad we have it.

Even though i havent had the bug, there is a bug where the floors disappear and its an endless loop of falling and stopping where the floor should be. Also a lot of items fall through as well. I like my hearthfire house but i will stay here for now.

I well remember Frostcrag Spire. I just loved that place. The storage was un-believeable. The beauty of the place fit my sorceress so well. Battlehorn Castle was where I went when I wanted to "train". lol Raise myself up to level 10 before starting anything. I could also use the floors in the master bedroom for storage until I got the Spire.

But the houses in HF may not look as grand as the Spire, but they sure make you feel at home when you get done fixing them the way you want to.

What it has in functionality...it lacks in comfort. It's very...open, and it leaves me with a chilliness. A lot of room not utilized.

It wasn't until late into my Oblivion experiences to finally forego the questline for BC. I have always enjoyed playing evil Conjuration Dark Lord Sorcerer types. Then I realized what I had been missing. That place is very fitting for ANY character type.

Still, the Spire will always be a place of home.

HF does give a similar feel of BC with the other NPCs around, but with BC you actually felt of nobility.

are we sure this isnt just another case of this is foreign/nostalgic for us (depending on whether you played morrowind or not) therefore we love it? i think i might buy a house in solstheim merely for gold brick storage. man i love those things.

One thing I really can say about the house in RR is the set up is very nice. After setting up shop and settling in more I've noticed that everything is very conveniently set up. Just enough storage, everything is wide open, and if you ever wanted to display your things this is like a showroom. I really like this place now that I've actually broke it in more than I did at first. It's still no hearthfire but it can go toe to toe with hjerm or proudspire.

Do you get a housecarl in the house on Solstheim?

Personally, I love Severin Manor. My first character bought various houses and built Lakeview and Heljarchen so he had plenty of housing, but my second and current character has been living exclusively out of Anise's cabin the entire time. I don't have a follower, I'm not married, I'm a death-raining hermit Dovahkiin.

Severin Manor is perfect because I like to display weapons and armor (despite the bugginess), and i like that there are no loading screens between alchemy, enchanting, and all types of smithing including a smelter (now that I have so much money and 100 smithing I don't really need this anymore). Lighting doesn't bother me; I drop a couple torches around and it's plenty. Storage is plenty with the half-dozen chests and barrels (each). If the well-rested bonus doesn't work, that doesn't concern me as I am level 100 in most of the skills that benefit from this the most.

My only complaint is that I wish I could have had this when I was level 20 or 30 (not 56) and that the available nearby merchants are fairly weak in selection.

Pretty good house, but it felt wrong for my Redguard character. I'll use it on my Dunmer, but I'm still happy with Hearthfire for my other chars.

First thing I did was get the raven rock house.

I'm so glad I never got that hearthfire thing. I made sure to read the xbox 360 forums, after experiencing the trash/bug ridden heap of dung, which Skyrim and Dawnguard were (well, really dawnguard FIXED my skyrim bugs finally, for the most part, without adding any playstopping ones.)

Bethesda seem kind of like the Special Olympics of gaming companies; They fail, quite seriously, but they still get a ribbon for "winning!" and lots of industry awards....

But anyway, I really LIKE the raven rock one. Simple, with all I need. I LOVE a smithy in the house. Its great! The only thing I don't like is that my wife, Ysolda in my Markarth house, can't move here (no option for her to move to the raven rock house =/ )

The first thing I did, of course, REMOVE ALL THE BASKETS! I hate those...

My favorite part of the house is the price you pay for it! (But all the mannequins and wall plaques are nice too!)

I have wayyyy to much crap to move, going from riften to solitude was hard enough...but that was at like 50 hours into the game. Im now at around 130, cleared most dungeons and have become a huge hoarder...
