The most interesting book you have read..

Post » Sun Jun 10, 2012 5:41 pm

As the title says, what is the most interesting book you have read while venturing around Skyrim, Knowledgeable? Interesting? Scary? Funny?

I am sure the majority have read it but i have to put it as my top, The Cabin in the Woods, actually freaked me out...

And i cant remember if it was The Cabin in the Woods or the Woodcutters wife but i am sure after reading one or the other my map updated, i assumed you could visit the area and see her ghost or something, was wondering if anyone else remember getting a map marker added..

Is and always will be The Real Barenziah. Very well done, very extensive and detailed (got to read the one on the wiki for the full story, parts are censored in the modern games), and a good complement to the Biography of Barenziah series.

There are a bunch of amazing books in this game, but I have a hard time reading them in game. I found an electronic downloadable book that I could read on my iPad and I liked that a lot. What I like the best is the lore on the Dwemer. Whoever wrote all these on the development team did a great job.

Both have several volumes. You can read them on the UESP, so you might want to look there while not playing so you aren't distracted by the gameplay :P

Keep in mind, The Real Barenziah has a semi large chunk of advlt content. And not that joking content like The Lusty Argonian Maid. I mean like serious advlt content.

The best in game book I've ever read is A Dance in Fire. I love the surprise at the end.

I'm more interested in History, so my favourite books in the game for the time being are books related to the History of the world like "The Great War", "Before the age of man" and others I don't remember right now. There's a book behind the counter of the Sleeping Giant Inn which about the dragons that I found very interesting too but I don't remember it's title either. And there's "The Rising Threat" of course.

I read Cicero's journal's the other day. You really see another side to him. I've learned to sort of respect and pity the guy now. Good read, though.

I liked the Wolf Queen books.

It was cool having a related quest in Solitude.

The books are one of my favorite parts of the game! Off the top of my head, i'd say "The Doors of Oblivion" and "Immortal Blood" are among my favorites.

A Hypothetical treachery is good. Actually does a better job of maintaining the mystery than most real life books

I remember liking Palla and Feyfolken. I also like the marksmanship lesson and the black arrow (they're a little cheesy, but entertaining).

I'm not to big on the stories, but I think I've read most of lore on the Falmer and Dwemer, who fascinate me to a certain extend. I also like reading journals laying around Skyrim (in little camps, on dead hunters, in homes), and they offer some neat insights on what people do, and how they die a tragic death. Cicero's journals are also worth a read, they reveal a whole different side of him.

The Cabin in the Woods

I came here expecting nobody had said this one and I was going to say it.

That's my favorite book in the game.

Ooo Cicero has a journal? Do you pickpocket it from him or is it found elsewhere?

You have to find it and read it for one of the DB quests.

I'd say the Barenziah books are my favorites, but I recall reading Surfeit of Thieves long time ago and stil remeber it well.

The timeline showing the rulers of the Empire and the duration of their rule. Often wasn't very long and most were assassinated if memory serves. I guess Uriel Septim VII was more or less following in a tradition of sorts.

FUnny - Lusty Argonian Maid books

Scary - Woodcutters Wife

Interesting/Cool - The Bear of Markarth, The journals you get while going through Rahgot's dungeon, Physiology of Werewolves, Code of Malacath, Telvanni's Journal. There's probably more, I know I've spent well over an hour just sitting in Honeyside reading books.

Awesome Stories - The Argonian Account, Immortal Blood

Gonna have to look for A Cabin in the Woods now.

Heh, yes Surfeit of Thieves is a great one. Love the books with a nasty and/or funny twist at the end of the story. Look out for The Exodus if you like that kind of thing as well.
