the one dungeon you THAT YOU DON'T WANT TO RETURN TO

Post » Sun Jun 24, 2012 8:05 am

Shimmermist Grove or something. Falmer cave in Whiterun Hold. A buddy and I were both doing the Companions around the same time. He got sent to a measly bandit camp, I got sent to a Falmer cave with a Falmer Gloomlurker AND a Dwarven Centurion. I was only level 8 or something.

The same darn thing happened to me the first character i made... i was running Nord sword and board and i blew my first perks on magic regeneration stuff. Level 7, me and Lydia struggled the whole way through the cave, Then the Gloomlurker drops her to a knee and the steam from the Guardian killed her... all i could do was turn around and come back. Someone suggested level 22 to fight a Steam Centurion... I went back and did it like a bawse at 12. I found out all i needed to do was complete that mission to go beastmode in the game (which is underwhelming... hopefully Dawnguard changes this). I kept sneaking and firing dwarven arrows into it. Took me about 10 tedious ass minutes.

I came into this topic just to rant about the same thing, i lol'd so hard when i realized i wasnt the only one.... i remember starting companions early because i was told it was a great way to "level up your first character quickly". More like "its a great way to send any follower into a random falmer/dwemer massacre under level 10...

I tried to think of one and couldn't and I definitely loved Blackreach. I don't like going where's there a bunch of Chaurus though. Those buggers are really tough and I die a lot. :tes:

Good to know I'm not the only one. The worst part was that my friend found the whole thing hilarious. I must say that he's a crackshot archer. Skyrim is his first TES game and he took a real liking to the Bosmer. Good thing he didn't know about the Wood Elves of old.

Blackreach.
This. So much open space and too much darkness. Plus, this is where I lost Lydia. I've never seen her again since the first ten minutes of being there.

Although, one time, when I had to go there for something, I can't remember why, I used a shout and later got a letter from a friend in Blackreach. I've made the assumption that she saw me and is still trying to help me.

Angarvunde. For me, the whole place was crawling with Death Lord Archers, all seemingly in exactly the right spots that would see me shot without being able to get Bane of the Undead off: took forever and dozens of deaths to get through. Get hit, get knocked over, Avoid Death kicks in, get shot, die, reload, rinse repeat. Then get shot, die straight away, etc. etc.

Labyrinthian.
Agreed. After I finally got out, having used all my potions and scrolls, there was a Frost Troll waiting for me. Took a while to figure out a way around him.

Skuldafn. At level 74 on master difficulty, it becomes a chore to kill 100 draugr deathlords.

I love Blackreach. Partially because of the crazy adventure it was on my first playthrough a week after the game came out.

I was level 30-something, just decided "I want to go to the northern-most place I can find." Found the hermit's shack, who sent me off to Blackreach. A week into the game, I started diving down under without even knowing what was ahead of me. Through a cool excavated dwemer ruin, into a massive dwemer city, to an elder scroll. A top 2 adventure in Skyrim for me.

The one place I don't want to go to again is the lighthouse with the Chaurus nest beneath it. Those poor people... And I was only like level 16 when I was doing it, had to run around and avoid the queen while letting Varkas take chip shots at it.
