Am I the only one losing interest in FNV?

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 8:59 pm

I have beaten this enitre game 4 times on both factions my favorite is the NCR. I am finding fallout to become boring really fast and with new FPS games coming out soon unless they put a DLC like broken steel or a decently big DLC I will probably put this game in with my collection I just use to show how many games I have..

anyone else feel this way?

Flame away or comment.

Not losing interest but I'm becoming bored with the static gameworld.
I've already gone over to Dragon Age Origins and Planescape.
Gonna keep playing them until the DLC comes out.

4 times on both factions? Which two haven't you done?

You can finish the game with Mr.House, NCR, Legion and Yes Man.

I've gotten a bit bored myself, right now all I am doing is stocking up on a massive amount of supplies with hopes the next DLC won't go "All your items are belong to us."

Been writing fanfics/drawing to bide my time, as i've gotten bored of almost every game I own now.

All New Vegas lacks is lots dungeons and randoms encounters and a bit of more enemies(we console users are always screwed) if those things were added in the NV we probably wouldn't be having this discussion. Why couldn't they merge FO3's awesome gameplay and replayability with FNV's brilliant story writing it would have been a truly EPIC game

Not really, becasue I have not played New Vegas in a month. And I never played a whole lot so its still a fairly fresh game to me. I don't play games to death I just play a couple hours a week to keep it fresh.

Have to agree with this, but even with mods, it's still missing something that keeps interest alive. I've said it before, but if Obsidian had more time to develop the game then it may have turned out better than it did. That's not to say it's a bad game, because it's not, I just find it lacking in some areas which take away from it's replayability. For me I came away a bit disappointed with the game. It's possible that my expectations were a bit too high for New Vegas, but then I'm sure I'm not the only one who had high hopes for it.

You mean if they merged tfallout 3s stuff it would be a truly epic piece of [censored]!!!
Fallout 3s gameplay was crap. I got bored of 3 before I even got to rivet city. I played it to after tranquility lane and traded it in for a better game. I would rather have a nuke droped on me than play that I prefer fallout 1 and 2 over that because they where truly epic games

Only so any times you can play the same quests without getting bored. Thats why I play one playthrough then do alot of other stuff then load the game back up.

I just hope the DLCs will be full of alot more content than Dead Money. I want me some expansions. Though I'm not sure when Obsidian means DLCs they mean just small questline in a specific area(aka Dead Money) or does it include Expansions(PLO). Its annoying when those two words are used interchangeably.

Also a wacky scenario ordeal: Try playing the game you would a Duke Nukem game: Kill and steal **** from everyone. If you see something go and kill it and think notihng of the consequences. I want to see the endslides. I bet one will say you cold blooded bastard!

well you sound awfully stubborn, so your saying killing a rat in the Originals is more fun that using a fatman to take out a super mutant behemoth? i don't understand how FO3's gameplay was crap comparing it to the originals

Yes, I have grown bored with NV and haven't played it in a while.
Sadly, I don't miss it either. I just ran out of things to do...I WANT to miss it though, so I check this site everyday for DLC "news."

I hope Bethesda/Obsidian realizes what a huge mistake they've made waiting this long for DLC news/releases.

Yes, I've been going between this and Civ V. Though I think I'll be going to get Homefront when it comes out.

Well yeah, but I poured 130 hours into the game. Of course it's boring now. The very fact I played it that long without losing interest is a testiment in itself. No other game has provided that much play time for me except Fallout 3. So am I losing interest? Yes. Is that a bad thing? Hell no, time to move on.

I agree with FalloutBob on this, i have completed the game once for each faction for a total of 4 plays. I started a new character to do some different stuff when the DLC dropped so I scooped it up, i was tempted to go back with the previous 4 characters and rerun Dead Money but i decided against that. So the only character of my 5 that will have dead money done will be number 5 but it is ok. As far as boredom maybe but only because i played FONV 3 to 4 hours a day for 3 solid months after release, so i needed a break, but i still pop back in on occasion do some gank and crank, (kill and craft).

I'm starting to be a bit bored too. FNV has it's great points, but FO3 had a bit more explorability.

I know I've said it before, but a mashup between the 2 would be so, so sweeeeeet.

One thing to consider when mentioning gameplay for a game like Fallout is that it is comprised of multiple elements of which combat is only one small part. So to use your stated example, yes the Combat in the originals may not be as viscerially graphical as it was in Fallout 3 but while the combat was given a serious makeover the rest of the gameplay elements were seriously reduced from what they were.

Having said that, back to the thread subject at hand. I've found that Boredom with a game can be subjective depending on the person playing it and while I'm still enjoying New Vegas, I will also play other games as well to increase the enjoyment I gain from playing it.
Ro use an example let us say if you were offered the chance to eat your favourite food at every meal, every day. You would soon grow to dislike your favourite food because it has become so everyday. Basically what I'm trying to say with this is variety can help greatly to keep a favourite your favourite.

I lost interest in it a few months ago, but that happens with every game I play. After I go back to it, it's a little bit more enjoyable.

I'm 200 hours in, i think i'll do about 50 more then i'll be done with the game for a while, at least until the next DLC comes out.

A lot of guys seem to consider "losing interrest" to be a drawback of the game. But really, a singleplayer game is like a book, there are only so many times you can read it. Then you'll pick it up again in a few months/years. Doesn't mean it's boring or less brilliant than before, just that you finished it.

If you're finished, just pick up another book while the next title in this series isn't out. : )

Not bored. Not losing interest.
I try to not burn my games out by overplaying them. If there's a hint of frustration in the air, take a break before it turns into something concrete, play something else (preferably something completely different) and come back to it after a while.
