The Skyrim Civil War. Who's Side Are You On ?

Post » Tue Jun 12, 2012 5:11 pm

After 40 hours into Skyrim i still have not started any Civil War Quests, however that will be my next objective. After completing the MQ i got a really bad vibe off Ulfric Stormcloak, he came across like an absolute idiot to me, so i think i'll be setting out to kill all his peasants and joining the Imperials for my next adventure.

Where does everyone else stand ?

It's a matter of principle: Stormcloaks.
But after they've won, I'd start my own private rebellion against their racial bias enforcement laws. That even though I roleplay as a Nord.

I myself prefer the Empire, though some of my characters join the Stormcloaks(of RP reasons). It simply seems like the Empire have a more realistic plan for dealing with the Thalmor than the rebels.
Some would argu that it is better to die on your feet than live on your knees and I usually agrees, but when the choice wil affect so many more people than myself there is much more to consider.

I'm on the side of Stormcloaks. One of the things I most disliked about the main quests of past Elder Scrolls games is that they forced the player to aid the Empire. I was so glad to hear that Bethesda would allow us to fight against the Empire at last.

My current character doesn't care, and won't take sides. my previous character sided with the Stormcloaks. Personally, I despise the the Imperials and their legion. The Empire I knew and loved died with the Septims, I hope the current one crumbles to dust.

The Stormcloaks, primarily because everyone screams 'racist' at them when they're nothing of the sort. And all the Imperial Jarls are paid-up, jumped-up scyophants, or just plain incompetent.

That said, my character doesn't care. She's an Ashlander. The more Skyrim falls into turmoil, the safer her homeland is. And, as someone with experience in fractious civil infighting, she's used to it.

Ulfric won't even let Argonians into Windhelm and he doesn't care when crimes are committed against dark elves so yes, he is rascist. BTW Titus Mede 2 is a total badass (read about the great war) and is the only reason we even got a treaty with the thalmor instead of them completely destroying us. Yes the white gold concordat's terms are harsh but launching a rebellion against the only force protecting you is wrong and stupid

I don't really support either of them. But it's not a matter of very personal preferences, at least for me, it's just a matter of the character I'm playing.

my character is an Altmer Thalmor spy, he joined the stormcloaks so that if they win, Thalmor rule over skyrim is almost assured.

After the imperials try to kill you just because you were found someplace, and even though you aren't on the list that they "love"? I could never bring myself to join the imperials. I don't do the civil war on all my characters, but the ones that get involved always join the stormcloaks.

yeah, in a "roleplay logic" there's no point at all in helping someone who was about to cut your head off outta nowhere.
in a "player logic" I tried both sides with different characters.

I find myself repeating the same thing over and over again with threads such as this one so I thought make it short by saying........

I don't appreciate the Imperial legion trying to execute me when my name isn't on the list (in the beginning). This tells me a lot about how they operate. They wrongfully execute people; simple as that.

I think I'd rather support a racist than to the legion who wrongfully executes people.

Level 10 and haven`t chosen a side yet. In my new game I decided to take my time on a decision and get a better idea of who is who and better.

So far, it`s really hard to see which side is better to go for. Both seem about equal:

The Empire appear to keep Law and Order and a sense of Civilization. They don`t seem evil. They appear to be benevolent and just want everyone to be like them... Hmmm.

The StormCloaks don`t seem evil either, they just want their land to be THEIR land.

A the end of the day, it`s the Stormcloaks who actually have the MORAL right because they want to keep their culture and their land as theirs much like Earth indians of America and other cultures have wanted.

If I follow my moral feelings I should join the Stormcloaks... But I do like the Imperials `Romanic` bringing Order to Chaos thing.

Decisions... decisions. Oh well I`ll do more more Mercenary work while I decide...

Imperials. The faster we slay Ulfric and suppress the Stormcloaks the faster we can unite and wipe out the Thalmor, thus achieving the goal of disregarding the White Gold Concordat.

To be completely honest, both are just as bad, yet just as good.

The Empire is weakened, it is no longer the Empire it used to be, it is corrupt, run by people with greed in their hearts, yet some would say for the Empire 'United we stand, divided we fall'. They want to reunite the continents and bring peace once more.

The Stormcloaks are considered to be racist brutes and their leader only caring for his own goals, yet the Empire betrayed and used him and all who support him, banned the worship of Talos which is what the Empire is all about, seeing their Sons and Daughters being tortured and killed by the Thalmor while the Empire does nothing... A weakened Empire does not deserve to rule over Skyrim.

At first i went with the Empire, but after
Spoiler
you capture the Rift, they make Maven Black-Briar the Jarl
and
Spoiler
the Emperor is assassinated by you if you join the Dark Brotherhood, and the one who ordered this is doing it for his own gain.
It goes to show how corrupted and weakened the Empire truly is now. Ulfric may seem racist due to the Dunmer in the Grey Quarters, but what Niranye says about them is true... They are too proud of themselves. Ufric cannot care for them while he has a war to plan and people out to kill him. Also, what king has not been ruthless in some ways? They say Ulfric only cares about Ulfric, well of course he has to care about himself, Talos was probably the same, there is no King that is and has been pure, and if they really were racist, the Dunmer would not even be in Windhelm, the same goes for Niranye. His speech when you enter the Palace of Kings is just.
