*ATTENTION* When posting updates on your character, If it contains information on areas, items, enemies or anything that is beyond general information, wrap those lines in spoiler tags. Do not let this keep you from telling your adventure. It is encouraged for people to post a description of where you are at and what you are doing. :tops:

I would like to take this opportunity to thank the people that contributed to making the DID playstyle a part of the Bethesda Softworks Forums. The initial thread began, and still resides, in the neighboring forum of Fall Out New Vegas. The founder .46ACP (Gunny) who was inspired by Longknife.

For the support of a DID community, I would like to make an Honorable Mention for Sten The Ugly.

The http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1248083-the-dead-is-dead-thread-9/ OP is maintained by Gunny

The http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1250157-the-oblivion-dead-is-dead-thread-ii/ OP is maintained by Se?or Cinco

The http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1244573-the-morrowind-dead-is-dead-thread/ OP is maintained by Murandus

Now for the basics. If you are unfamiliar with, or would like to know more about the DID playstyle. Please visit the http://graveyard.wikia.com/wiki/Dead_is_Dead:_A_gaming_playstyle_choice page, in the http://graveyard.wikia.com/wiki/The_Graveyard_-_A_Dead_Is_Dead_gamplay_site_Wiki.

Just one rule...Dead is Dead. :dead:

1) When your character falls in battle or falls from a cliff, that's it. They are dead. Game over. No reloads. Feel free to restart, (
at the cave exit ) with the ole "I or II", after their names. If you so choose.

*Exception*
...If your character falls due to a glitch, the game locks up or due to any outside action and/or distraction ( kids / pets / mother-in-law ) at no fault from the player. No shame will fall upon you to revert to a previous save.

NOTE : Difficulty has no bearing in DID. It should be set, according the comfort of the player. Pending things like character build, roleplay, limits, mods, and experience, this can easily vary among players.

If you want to try a run, feel free to list your new characters, with a backstory if you like. As well as, their starting stats and limitations. Update your progress. Much like the "Where are you now", thread. It's really not any different from most of your guy's/gal's playstyle...aside from the dead and done part.

When and if that happens, post their name, date of passing and any info you want to reflect on their tomb. I will list them in the OP, so they will be forever remembered.

:wavey: NOTE : You must start a new character, in the thread, for them to be eligible for the Skyrim Memorial.

Player Tomb Listings :

1) I will list the players in alphabetical order.

2) The graves, of your fallen characters, will be added to your Tomb.

3) Any info on your char will be added, to their grave, according to your post.

4) Each character's grave will be limited, to 7 lines of info, for simplicity and unity. I will be more than happy, to tie a link to your character's name for pics and stats.

5) The Tombs will have a heading, with the players user name.

*NOTICE*
...With regards to the memorial...If you commit to a DID, your character dies and you post " My dude died, on such and such, but I'm going to continue playing him/her", OR you play with a varied version, like restarting from a "half-way point". That is NOT Dead Is Dead and you will NOT get added to the graveyard. This prompted a lot of frowns and nasty comments, in the other forum. So, we can prevent this before it happens.

Thank you for participating and enjoy your game.

Just another average day for Idriel (as if her days are average).

"I have an idea!" Balgruuf said. "Why don't you take our Bosmer friends with you! It will be fun. Like a camping trip."
Ha!...A camping trip with a... :mage: Yes...far from average, I would say.

Well, more on the civil war! Theres been a lot happening so I'm not going to write out the whole novel or I'll fall behind, I'll just run over the important things....
Don't hold back. Feel free to write as much as you wish. It's all important.

Solitude awaits, and so we...for Caendil's next set of trials.

An update on Elezabyth:
There's Falmers in here, and she's only level 3--this could prove the end of my first DID character. :(
Those things are nasty, for sure. They are even pretty tuff in a fight. This is the times that I enjoy this playstyle the most.

OK, so when Shuvesse said her Sprint was faster than a sabre cat's, that was the skooma talking. Holy crap!
Lots of fun with your reads. I enjoy them very much.

Aeryn Eagleye, Legionnaire
Their stench is the worst thing about them though.
Ha! Hold your breath...for an hour.

But of course!

Since you mentioned witches...here's http://i.imgur.com/T9RfA.jpg
Went for the normal start since I wanted to be friendly to all forsworn.

Her country is the Reach, yes, it's a Country and it's her's.

Now to see what's next...
Damn...it's Ashley Greene http://i2.listal.com/image/563625/600full-ashley-greene.jpg

Very sixy indeed. I removed all the hair and character improvements...that character makes me wish I hadn't. Nice work, lorelai. Good job!
--------------------------------------------
EDIT : Nope...I was mistaken. It took me a while to find her because I forgot her name. I settled for Ms Greene. But Manon actually reminded me of Evangeline Lilly. http://www.herr-der-ringe-film.de/v3/media/galerie/hobbit001/hobbit_05/evangeline-lilly11.jpg
--------------------------------------------

^^ Haha, yes, badass and crazy, lethal combination!
I went for the Forsworn thing because I wanted something new. I don't even know if I'll do quests with her in the beginning, maybe just let her cause mayhem.
She's quite opposite to how I normally play...I think I'll consider her my Id.
Great stuff. I can't wait to here more about her!

Tip to people playing dead is dead, drop the difficulty. Any mistakes or even if you go the wrong way can lead to death.
I usually play on Adept, with most of my characters. But when I play wit an Assassin or a Necro type, I seldom get hit so I tend to crank it up to Master. That is of course a sheer preference.

I am sorry for your loss. Start a new character and tell us all about them.

------------------------------

Speaking of new characters.
This is Vilad Bon-Temps.http://cloud.steampowered.com/ugc/560942745935129118/A422E51C69297A6D156DA9D144FA515DD5933FFA/ (pronounced...bone - tompe') If you know what that is taken from...then you are special.

I struggled with this guy at first. He began as Enric Bon-Temps. A Nord modeled after Eric, in the referenced name, but then I realized how much I hated that character, from the show, and created an Imperial named Vilad.

I am running this amazing Vamp mod...http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=17077 I suggest watching the video that is linked under the "video tab" in the tool bar of the front page.

This mod is rather complex. It allows the Imperials to actually become pale and not look like a Redguard. However, it does seem to get twitchy with other mods that alter the characters appearance.

He started out as a Vamp, but took the "Camping in the Wilds" start. He is a different strain of Vamp. Vilad was an Imperial officer. He had been with the Legion for many years. There was a massive conflict with a large group of Stormcloaks, that lasted for several days. Vilad fought with uncommon valor, but the Stormcloaks proved to be too many.

The meadow was littered with hundreds of warriors, from both sides.Vilad was barely alive as he lay in tides of crimson. As night fell he could see the the silhouette of the remaining Stormcloaks as they made their way from the aftermath. Then....the screams...

Vilad listen and smiled with great pleasure, in hopes the Saber Cat would shred the remaining Stormcloaks and take them all to the Void. Alias, he was mistaken...

That was no Sabre Cat...

Season 5 in two weeks!! Vilad looks quite scary. I like his origin story.

I was thinking that Manon reminded me of Julianna Margulies. We need to evaluate further. lorelai, may we please have some more screenshots of your smokin' hot witch? :whistling:

Here's an update from Shuvesse. No spoilers, it's just long.

Spoiler
Shuvesse has been trying to save up enough gold to buy a horse. She spent some time in Windhelm helping the guards do their job, and at the end she got no pay at all! Rather than test the theory that they would now look the other when she misbehaved (perhaps by fatally clawing one of them), she stalked out to the stable to see about Plan B, liberating a horse.

That did not work out. For one thing, there were eyes everywhere. She also realized that she needed her horse to loyally fight by her side possibly defending her to its very death rather than trotting off to report her misdeeds the first time she dismounted. (She sometimes gives other tailed creatures too much credit for initiative.) The second problem was the Khajiit caravan camped right beside the stable. Shuvesse abandoned the horse plan in favor of shoring up her stash.

The time in Windhelm was not an utter waste, however. She did have some hot merchandise in her pack. That meant a moonlit walk back to Riften. She feels more comfortable in the dark. Except for the vampires. Note to Shuvesse: buy another Cure Disease potion.

In Riften she managed to scraqe together enough gold for a horse, with the help of the salvage she peeled from three dead thugs. The thugs ambled up right outside the city gate, saying they were going to teach her a lesson. Apparently the lesson was “Riften Guards Will Happily Watch You Die.” Now she needs to spend some time swatting butterflies for new potions.

After she unloaded the thugs’ gear, she closed the deal with the horse trader. She got a great big dapple grey that she named Speck. What adventures they would have! Starting with a trip to Riverwood by way of High Hrothgar. Shuvesse emptied out her drawer in the Ratway and the two of them hit the road.

About ten steps outside of Riften, Shuvesse decided to cut through the woods around Fort Greenwall. That led to a spider encounter. Shuvesse hopped off to get some practice dealing with a threat alongside Speck before something serious occurred like a dragon attack. That’s when she saw the second spider. Speck’s furious horse-yelling must have attracted attention, because while Shuvesse was targeting spider #2, a bear tackled her from behind. During the tail-over-nose scramble with the bear, she saw Speck fall over dead and spider #3 approaching.

So, we’re done with horses.

Well, Elezabyth met her premature end last night. :(

Elezabyth the Breton
Born: Unknown
Died: 19th of Last Seed, 4E 201

Her remains were found at the bottom of the cavern known as the 'Sightless Pit', the victim of a Falmer attack.

Damn,,,,her death was mostly my fault. This is the first time I'm playing on the PC (my main character is on the 360) and I'm still getting used to the keyboard controls. My fat fingers kept hitting the wrong keys....:(

Gonna wrap this in spoiler tags, because I couldn't be bothered sectioning it up to cut out any spoilers.

Spoiler
"Was nearly lunch to a sabre cat on the road today, lucky I picked up that stray dog on the road. He took the brunt of the beast's attacks, allowing me to focus on hitting it without worrying about it spilling my guts.
Unfortunately, the dog died. Shame, I'd grown quite fond of it.
Anyway. Continued onwards on my journey, and came across a cave in the mountains, Darkwater Pass or something like that. Decided to head inside and have a looksee, as I was running low on coin.
Bad idea.
First one was on me even before I could draw my sword. Fumbled about for a bit, trying to draw the damn thing in between blocking frenzied blows from the foul creature. Finally got my sword out, dispatched it easily enough after that.
Second one must have heard the ruckus and came for a look. He was much less trouble than his mate, but it was still a tough, vicious fight. Turned tail and left after that, before any more of the foul things showed up.
Last time I ever go for a look in random caves, at least until I pick up some proper armour. This iron briastplate is rubbish. Bloody Falmer.
The rest of today's travel was uneventful, other than for a spider attack and a few bandits. Dispatched them easily enough, and was on my way. Made camp for the night in an abandoned shack, looks to have belonged to an alchemist. I'll continue on towards Riften in the morning."

Currently lv.8. Wearing iron armour, hide boots, Imperial bracers and a hide helmet, with an iron shield and Imperial sword.

R.I.P Elezabyth.
And Speck.

So I've bumped Idri's difficulty up to Expert now that I'm better acquainted with DiD playing. I've also gotten far enough in the Main Quest to have random dragon encounters, so we'll see whether or not that was such a good idea. :P
She wasn't really supposed to be Dragonborn, but I wanted Breezehome so.... I also might try to find all the words to Kyne's Peace and RP it as some sort of Bosmeri ability.

Well, Elezabyth met her premature end last night. :(
"Bound in Eternity" I will add her to the CCMS.

(my main character is on the 360) and I'm still getting used to the keyboard controls. My fat fingers kept hitting the wrong keys.... :(
I cannot play with a keyboard and mouse. After more than 30 min of gameplay, that mouse KILLS my wrist and i hate moving all over the keyboard and hitting the wrong keys. I very much dislike the movement using key strokes. I much prefer the anolog function of the sticks.

Plus the K&M doesn't have a rumble pack. I can't count the times I almost soil myself from stepping on a pile of bones. What the Hell is that all about anyway? I guess you twist your ankle or something....

I use my Xbox controller. Skyrim is a plug-N-play with that thing. But I use this mod http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=12964 to have access to 8 hotkeys and a "quicksave" feature. I also had to drop 10 dollars on Xpadder so I could play The Witcher 1, Morrowind and Oblivion.

"Tenetur in Aeternum" We will miss that poor bastard. He has joined the fallen in the Skyrim memorial.

BTW, that was an excellent way to present his passing. It was cut and paste. Kudos, my good man...kudos.

------------------------------------

Vilad was upon his last breath. The the sounds of terror from the remaining Stormcloaks, subsided. He did not know what took them nor did he care. Just knowing that he remained alive long enough to hear their last cries appeased him well.

Vilad awaits the call of the divines as he is approached by a shadowy figure. The figure hovers above his near lifeless body.

VILAD : Arkay?...Sithis?...Deamon? It matters not. I yield to the Divines. That they may take me at will.

FIGURE : Demon? God? Hmmm. I have been called those things...yes. Even Divine, by some. Lord and Master have been uttered, from time to time.

VILAD : So, he who is called by many names, and brings death to my enemy. Are you my enemy? Are you my reaper? I am afraid I shall rob you of the privileged death. If that is your intent. For I am about to count the last of my....

FIGURE : This does not need be so. As I bring death so I give life. Do you wish this Immortal gift?

VILAD : And why does a Demon of the night. Take my enemy and offer me life?

FIGURE : I watched this battle for the three days. You are a true warrior. One without fear. One that deserves the gift I bring.

VILAD : And the Stormcloaks you slaughtered?

FIGUER : They remained because they were cowards that hid in the trees and lay among the dead. They did not deserve the life they had. Much less any other.

Vilad accepts this donation of immortality and reaches out to the Dark One. The transformation begins...

It has been several months since the encounter. Vilad has taken refuge in a small cave on the southern border of Skyrim. He feeds on just about any human he can. Targeting Stormcloaks more than not.

Vilad is on his way back to his hole in the ground, after a night of hunting, just as Dawn breaks the skyline. He is weakened, but he can make it home, as he has done before. He is approached by a Fugitive that wants him to stash a weapon. Not much is said, and the guy runs off. The mystery man doesn't get far and his pursuer shows up. Vilad just points.

He decides to follow in hopes of getting a fresh heart or two for the trip home. (Nothing like fresh road-kill.) One kills, and is weakened by, the other. This is like shopping.

Sure enough one goes down...down a cliff face that is... The Fugitive was struck by the Hunter's blade and falls to his death. Vilad is there by the time his body stops falling and rips the heart from the corpse. Fearing he was seen by the Hunter, he makes is way around the hillside and attempts an ambush. Wrong!....

Vilad wasn't seen by the Hunter. But he was seen...by three Vigils of Stendarr. This is not good. He could try to take them...But why? No, it is better if he makes a strategic retreat. And so he does. He is getting weaker by the minute and he is out of Stamina. The one heart will give him a blast of energy to make it to a safe place...we hope.

Vilad comes upon a small home on the road. The door is locked and he has only two picks. He is not very skilled and breakes one fairly quickly. The VoS are closing fast. He is able to get the door open and makes it inside before they saw where he went.

Once inside, he is no longer boiling from the sun and starts to regain his strength. He will take damage if trespassing. But what ever was on the other side of that door couldn't be any worse that what he was facing on this side. Luckily the house is unowned, but it is occupied. He hears voices in the basemant. Some would see this as a potential threat. Vilad sees this as a potential snack.

think i would like to join the dead is dead army, heres my character:

FEANOR THE GREY (fee-an-nor)

race: breton
style: master wizard
age: 406

for his age feanor is a very old breton. how did he accomplish this you ask? well he was once known as the hero of kvatch a time ago. he was given a quest to destroy a necromancer who was attempting to become lich by stealing the enchanted hourglass. instead of destroying the hourglass feanor managed to use it, it had hidden power just waiting to be tapped.

feanor as a nateral born breton was always skilled with magic but being brought up by the altmer of summerset isles made him an even stronger mage. his parents dies when he was only 3 and was found by a redgaurd bandit who sold the child to an altmer family who couldnt have children (hence the name)

after the oblivion crisis had ended feanor stayed alone in his tower until the turn of the new era. starting to learn word and rumor of dragons being sighted he started to head north hoping to catch a glimpes of one of these magnificant creatures. however whilst crossing the border the guards of skyrim called feanor a necromancer a no gooder, "too powerful for your own good" they took feanor captive and left him at a fosworn camp where he stayed for many days beofre they took him to the dreaded hagraven. she ripped him apart and svcked out his power, and the tossed him down a hill, whre he was eventually found by a party of markarth guards they put him in a wagon with three other men, lokir, rolof, and a peculiar man with a cloth wrapped arouind his mouth. he woke to find these men and didnt know where he was. this is where his journey in skyrim begins.

this character iv have been using since oblivion and has crossed over.

Alas, after 22 hours of play, Idriel has fallen. She and Faendal were sent to retrieve a blade for a priestess of Kynareth. Upon reaching the location, they were assaulted by a number of mages. They held their ground atop a small ridge, firing a hail of arrows down upon them, but their foes were too powerful. Faendal fell first, slain by a lighting bolt. Wounded and panicked by her friend's death, Idriel tried to fall back to find cover, but instead ran into a fire mage who flanked her then backed her against a wall of rock. Like a cornered animal, Idriel fought bravely, but the combined fire and electricity was too much for her.

Here lies

Idriel

Born: 4E 159

Died: 4th Hearthfire, 4E 201

Female Bosmer

Level 15

RIP Idri: You always ate the men you slew, but now the worms are eating you.

So it's time to say hello to my next character:

Name: Indyanis
Race: Altmer
Gender: Male
Class: Archaeologist/Scholar
Skills: Looking at old things, Dwemer study, being crotchety

A few rules I'm setting for myself on this playthrough:
  • No armor. Robes or regular clothes only.
  • Only carries an iron or steel dagger to use as a last resort defense. All other daggers are considered “archaeological treasures” and will be sold or put on display.
  • Must hire a follower before venturing into caves or ruins to deal with any combat situations.
  • Must eat, sleep, drink, and occasionally bathe.
  • Can use low-level spells (except for Conjuration and Destruction). Can also use alchemy and some smithing to improve followers’ armors.
  • Generally peaceful and will try to avoid combat if alone. Not a fighter, but can [attempt to] defend himself if there are no other options.
  • Collects any book he can find, and plenty of valuable “artifacts.”
  • Most attribute increases will go into stamina so he can carry more of his finds and haul butt farther if the going gets too tough.
Let's see how well this one fairs....

Aeryn Eagleye, Legionnaire, Thane of Whiterun

This is a little long and I'm too lazy to isolate the passage with the 'dragon rising' spoiler.

Since I'm playing as not the dragon born I writing my other character, Shirzad, into some scenes...

Spoiler

22nd of Last Seed, 401

Faendal and I made our way back to Dragonsreach today.
Farengar was so excited about the tablet I thought he would wet himself when we handed it to him.
Alas, the Jarl still won't hear my message as now this dragon seems to have attacked a nearby watchtower.
Slaying a handful of bandits and draugr has confirmed me in my role as resident dragon expert (?!) so the Jarl has asked me to meet up with his housecarl and investigate the tower.

While Irileth rounded up a squad of guardsmen, I headed over to the Bannered Mare and decided to get well and goodly pissed before setting out to meet this dragon (and, likely, my demise).

Faendal and I met Irilrth, the guards and another dark skinned stranger wielding a pair of curved swords. Two. Curved. Swords.
The tower was broken and in flames but there was no sign of a dragon. We fanned out to look for survivors.
One frightened guardsman came running from the ruins warning us away and an instant later a roar filled the sky as the dragon swooped down on us.

I took shelter in the doorway of the tower and loosed arrow after arrow. Faendal disappeared. The dark skinned stranger switched to a shield, took cover and only engaged the beast in the flank or rear when it was busy mauling guardsmen.
The fight dragged on for what seemed hours. I started out with 200 arrows but by the end I was looting corpses for ammo. I heard Faendal shouting as he charged the monster, apparently also out of arrows and, as the beast was looking near death I followed suit. The dark skinned stranger was there as well and between the three of us we finally slew the dragon.

As it died, some strange energy flowed from it into the dark skinned man. The few remaining guardsmen were in awe of him and muttered something about "dragon born".
They told him to shout. He did. It was really loud.

Irileth was unimpressed and told them as much. They mocked her as an outsider.
I was inclined to agree with her but didn't care enough to open my mouth.
This "dragon born" is nothing special. He spent most of the fight hiding. The real heroes are the dead strewn throughout the ruins and surrounding field. Boneheaded Norseman though they may be, they didn't flinch. They're the ones that took down that dragon.

Back in Dragonsreach the Jarl was handing out Thaneships. One for me, the resident dragon scholar, and one for the 'hero' who hides.
Whatever. More importantly he was finally ready to hear my message from the General.
He said he'd consider the offer of imperial troops to help defend the city and sent me on my way to deliver yet another message. This time to the rebel leader, Ullfric, in Windhelm.

Welcome to the DID Clan. Great start on the character story. I hope you continue to entertain the viewers with updates on the Breton Feanor.

Good luck and enjoy this great playstyle.

What are your impressions of the mod thus far? It looks cool, though I'm not sure I would be too fond of the trespassing damage.
I haven't really done a lot yet. So far I have just been more or less testing the mechanics to get used to the way it works and progress through stages. In fact I have restarted three times. Just because I was getting a feel for it.

So far, I am very impressed. There are a few bugs.

- The main script writer is out of town, for the moment. So you have to use a console command to get it to progress to stage two. This will be addressed soon.

- The Improved Night Vision is waaaay too bright. But it is a permanent toggle and it doesn't make that incredibly annoying sound when turns on and off. Great stuff...it's just too bright.

In total darkness, it is fine. But if you get around any light source...you are blind. Which that is understandable, I guess, but the fogs and mists are colored by an associated light source that is placed at the edge of a cell. This gives a total white-out effect on the screen. I used the console to give my character the vanilla NV power of the Kitty's.

- The PC gets locked in sneak mode sometimes, when engaging a "Sneak Feeding" and it kills the target. You must reload a previous save.

As far as the trespassing damage...None of my characters have ever had more than 10 trespasses in a playthrough. So it shouldn't be an issue. However this mod is inspired by several Vampire lore references, including TES. So it still fits and is not just a bunch of OP spells and what have you.

All in all, I am quite pleased, indeed.

Alas, after 22 hours of play, Idriel has fallen.

So it's time to say hello to my next character:
Let's see how well this one fairs....
We join you in this dark hour. She is with the fallen.

Ha! Indy...I love it.

Very nice! I like to bring in past characters with my current ones from time to time. I just can't get away from Sonoura. Those Dragon fights last foe ever, with that mod. Even with the "slightly" version.

Ha! I see Manon has stirred some waves. I shall take some screenies when I get home!

@Se?or Cinco, when I first read Vilad's name, I though I saw Vlad, as in Vlad the Impaler.
That is exactly the name I had in my head as I was typing his.

And yes. Manon is quite stunning. I can see her easily making the Maxum 100 for 2012. Granted I do NOT condone these types of mods...normally. But I think Manon warrants that poser mod. You could make a cover shot with a title overlay for Skymax or Skymag or Skyhim or Skyboy.

I still say she looks more like Evangeline Lilly.http://i2.esmas.com/galerias/fotos/2011/8/_evangeline_lilly_025-c483a804-0f40-102f-ad72-0019b9d5c8df.jpg

Haha, sorry. Was in a hurry, had to run so I wouldn't be late for a trip to the big smoke, lol

Anyway. I'll start a new character after I get home, got a few ideas so we'll see how that goes.
Oh no...Don't be sorry. That is the way It should be done. It is hard to remember every detail a character has. Some just post. "My dude died....that sux" I can't do much with that, without backtracking previous posts and even previous threads.

We await the new character.

Simulated a DID walkthrough the other day with my current character. I died two times during a ten hour session, first time I fell of a cliff when I was watching two giants fight some bandits. The second time I was instantly killed in a dwarven ruin when a trapped door shot out some blades out of the ground. Guess some more practice for me before I can attempt a run.

Name: Indyanis
 Love it!

Shuvesse is clean and traveling with Vorstag. She is following the Way of the Voice as much as she can. They found a Word of Power and have a map marker for another one.

Alchemy is a lot of fun. Right now Shuvesse is hoping for a frost-breathing dragon so she can try out her new Weakness to Fire poison on her Imperial Bow of Smells Like Something’s Burning. (I forget what it’s really called.)

Vorstag is also a lot of fun. Since Shuvesse does no smithing, he just picks what he wants from all of the loot she gives him without her trying to manipulate him with improvements. Right now he’s looking rough and greasy in banded iron and plain old iron boots. Why did he equip those boots? No idea. He also loves to resurrect things with his staff. My favorite recent battle involved a zombie mudcrab. Vorstag was howling his usual death threats to the sky, a blue-misted mudcrab was scuttling along behind him, and Shuvesse was helpless with laughter.

The two of them are presently in Riften. After they conclude their business, they will leave for the Markarth area again. They came in the South Gate, so we don’t know if the caravan is here. They will likely go back the way they came, since Shuvesse needs to drop some things off in Riverwood. However, a big part of her wants the caravan to be there. As good as things are right now, skooma makes her feel better. It’s likely that she’ll need to check. I’m a little worried about what will happen. She’s level 15, and we’ve been seeing a lot of trolls.

Excerpt from the journal of Indyanis:

Were it not for Skyrim's famed Dwemer ruins, I never would have come to this wretched place. The land itself is quite stunning (though a bit nippy), but the people here are another matter. I sat in a smelly boat all the way from Summerset to the Imperial City, nearly gave myself a heart attack making the trek north through the mountains only to finally arrive in Skyrim and what kind of welcome do I get? I'm arrested as one of those "Stormcrow" fellows! Me! An old man! I suppose those Legion soldiers were only doing their jobs, but any idiot could figure out I'm no Stormcrow.

Cloak. Yes, that's what it is. Stormcloak.

Those Imperial buffoons nearly chopped my head off! I'm still not entirely sure how I got out of that one alive, though. I just can't believe what I saw. A dragon....a real dragon! What a discovery! My, if only I were a few decades younger. I pride myself for still being spry at my age, but I'm no dragon hunter. Leave that to these Nordic brutes. But I do believe these dragons warrant further study. Perhaps if I ask around, someone might be able to point me toward one of those dragon burial mounds I've heard talk about....

But for now, I focus my attention back on the reason I came to this freezing land in the first place: Dwemer ruins. A shame what happened to Morrowind. So much knowledge lost. But I'm sure Skyrim's ruins will hold just as many secrets. But I can't just go running into these places like some drugged-up Khajiit! My research suggests that old Dwarven traps and automatons may still be active, even after all these centuries. If that's the case, they could be quite hazardous to my health. I'll need to hire guides, or at least someone with enough smarts to swing a sword. Up here, it may be difficult to find someone with any smarts at all. And unless they'll work for free, I'll also need coin. The trip up here nearly emptied my pockets, and the Imperials took the rest when they arrested me. What with the chaos that surrounded my "release," I suppose there's no hope of getting back what little I had left.

I'll just have to ask around and see if there are any ways one can earn some coin without putting one's life on the line. I've come to Solitude because I heard there was a Bard's College in the city. Perhaps that would be a good place to start. At least I've already made a friend. I ran into a dog on the road to Solitude. I though he was a stray at first, but he led me back to a cabin where I found his owner. Dead. The least I could do was take the poor, wretched beast along with me.

Skyrim suddenly doesn't seem so daunting now that I have a companion.

It may take me a while to get used to living up here, but at least there are no snakes. Thank Auri-El there are no snakes! I hate snakes....

Breton female
Not sure on class, sort of a hybrid swordsman (swordswoman? swordsperson?)/combat archer. Specialising in archery, 1H weapons, heavy+light armour.
What she's wearing now (Iron armour, Imperial light boots, leather braces, with a novice mage hood for crap weather) is pretty much how I envisioned her, so the only changes will be in weaponry. EDIT: I'm using a cloak mod, so she also has a brown burlap cloak for crap weather.

As for backstory, she remembers nothing before waking up in the cart with a bunch of smelly Nords. Oddly, she sees this as a chance to start over and leave whatever her old life was behind her. The past, however, has a nasty habit of catching up with you when you least expect it...

Right, I have more time on my hands for this one. Contains spoilers of the civil war, the quest 'The man who cried Wolf' and related quests, and the quest you do for the grey-manes. I cannot recall its name at the mo...

Spoiler
Caendil and Erik arrived at Solitude much in the fashion that Caendil and Lydia had arrived at whiterun - catapults were furiously exchanging fire, but this time it was Ulfric Stormcloak stirring the troops. Once again Caendil made sure to be at the spearhead of the charge, and once inside the city she sliced through the imperial line as if it was non-existant; the defense was sparse, the men weak. Evidently the locals who had enlisted had recognised which way the wind was blowing and abandoned the legion like rats leaving a sinking ship. God knows what Erik was up to, he eventually caught up with Caendil, stormcloaks in tow, as she waited at the doors to Castle Dour. "Leave this to us" said Ulfric to the troops, as he motioned for Caendil, Erik and Galmar to accompany him inside. Rikke and Tullius had no last line of defense like Balgruf had deployed, and after exchanging pleasantries with Ulfric, they drew their swords. Caendil had kept hers unsheathed, in fact she had put a considerable effort into not launching herself at the duo who had unjustly attempted to behead her at Helgen. Once given the excuse though, she made sure that Rikke was felled by her hand, and forced Tullius to the ground. Ulfric, triumphant, offered her the deathblow, but this time she refused it; better the leader of the stormcloaks truly cut the head off the legion than herself. Rikke was the one who'd taken the offending decision to behead her for the sake of it after all, and she'd had her revenge for that.

An axe blow and a speech later, and Erik and Caendil made their way out of solitude, where they received word from the Grey-Mane son (Caendil had previously assisted him in locating his brother, although the discovery that he was being held by the Thalmor had led to a cautious approach) that his plans were in place and he was ready to free his brother. Making their way to Northwatch, Caendil and Erik shared war stories, compared weapons, and Erik was given some pointers on surviving fights, Namely to avoid giant icicles. They met up with the rescue party outside. "Whats the plan?" Caendil asked him. The Grey-Mane hefted his battleaxe and replied "Kill every Elf inside". The plan was followed to the letter, the Thalmor agents put up a good fight, but weren't able to defeat the combined might of the rescue party. "Say what you want about the Elves, they really know how to make good armour!" exclaimed Erik as he struggled out of his steel plate and strapped on a set of Elven armour. They continued into the depths of the fortress, losing one of the party as they neared the end. Eventually, they spied an interrogation chamber and overheard what was happening inside. "Look, the Thalmor Interrogators are nasty pieces of work, we need to plan this att..." started Caendil. This fell on deaf ears however as the Grey-Mane lost his head and charged in headlong. The rest of the party piled in after him just as the Interrogator summoned a Storm Atronach and all hell broke loose. At one point Caendil was flung from the room by a thunderbolt, and she took the opportunity to heal herself before rejoining the fray. Eventually the rescue party prevailed without further loss, grabbed the hostage and exited the fortress, quickly parting ways. They'd given the Thalmor a bloody nose, and they all knew all too well that there would soon be death squads out there with orders to kill them.

After returning to Whiterun to pass on the news to the rescued mans mother, Caendil and Erik headed back to Solitude. Upon arrival, they wandered around, selling the masses of plunder they'd taken from the Thalmor, and then paid a visit to the palace. Upon arrival, they overheard a man pleading for assistance with strange goings on in a nearby cave. The Jarl's Steward, Falk, recognised Caendil and Erik as adventurers, and offered them remuneration for investigating. They duly made their way to Wolfskull Cave, thinking they were in for some easy money "Probably wolves" Erik cheerfully announced as they neared their destination. It wasn't wolves which emerged from the trees around the entrance though, it was a pair of skeletons. "Necromancers" grimaced Caendil "this could be nasty, I hate necromancers". "Aren't you Elves ok with necromancy and raising dead spirits?" asked a surprised Erik "Thats Dunmer" replied Caendil "I'm Bosmer. We dont ressurect our dead. We eat them". Erik manfully attempted to meet her gaze, but failed miserably.

The pair entered the cave and proceeded quietly. Several skeletons and draugr were felled by well placed arrows from Caendil, a couple of others were lured by Erik and were sent back to the grave when she dropped down behind them to deliver a fatal blow. Eventually, they reached a room with two necromancers and a draugr. In the ensuing battle, Caendil fell down a large hole, and when she picked herself up and dusted herself down, muttering darkly as Erik nimbly hopped down and landed beside her, she realised there was a door in front of her, with some very odd sounds emanating from beyond it. As the pair proceeded through, they found themselves witnessing a necromantic ritual, which was attempting to ressurect Potema. They wasted no further time and battled their way to the top of the tower where the ritual was happening, and a brief struggle ended with Caendil decapitating the ritual master as she attempted to finish binding Potema. As the severed head hit the floor, Potema's essence was freed from the binding ritual and flooded out of the roof of the cavern. Assuming it had dissipated, Caendil and Erik made their way back to Falk and informed him of what had happened, and received their payment. As they made their way out of Solitude the next day, a messenger caught up to them.

"Whats it say?" asked Erik as she read the letter "Its from Falk, he says theres been a development and he needs us again" Caendil informed him. They made their way back to the blue palace, where Falk told them that Potema's essence hadn't dissipated, it had gone back to her remains under Solitude and was now commanding undead servants. He directed them to a priest who gave them a key to the crypt and told them that as they had been present at the ritual, only they could truly send Potema back where she had come from. Caendil and Erik made their way down into the depths of the crypt, encountering draugrm skeletons and vampires. "This all seems too easy" muttered Erik as he turned away from a draugr which had just risen from the water and duly been battered back. He'd failed to notice the second draugr however, which had marched right up behind him. Just as it raised its battleaxe to bury it in his skull, Caendil planted an arrow in its face and sent it tumbling backwards, its life force extinguished. "I've already lost two companions, I dont want to lose a third. Keep your focus" she admonished Erik.

They continued on in silence, identifying which draugr were going to be reanimated and which they need not pay attention to. The whole way, Potema was whispering temptations into Caendil's ear, a fact she kept quiet so as not to unsettle or unfocus Erik. Eventually they reached the chamber where Potema awaited them "Lets see how you handle my council" she cackled as draugr emerged from the coffins lining the room. A furious melee ensued, and Erik stayed true to all the advice that he had been given, not straying either from Caendil's field of view or vicinity. As his triumphant cry accompanied the last enemy falling to the ground, a blue haze surrounded them all and they rose once more and the battle renewed. Once again the duo emerged triumphant, and Potema's cry of rage filled the chamber, before localising itself behind a door at the far end. As they proceeded through, Potema's shade launched a last desperate assault, but it was too little too late. She was brushed aside and her remains carted back to Solitude for cleansing.

Caendil reflected on the fact that her other two late companions probably wouldn't have gone the distance, but seemingly in Erik, she had found a capable partner in crime. 500 gold well spent? Time would tell....

Phew...!
