Things you'd love to see again

Post » Sun Mar 06, 2011 3:16 pm

Fallout: New Vegas had some impressive moments, places, etc... . But which weapon/place/monster/person/... would you love to see again that appeared in other Fallout games?

I was a bit dissapointed that there were no normal Mirelurks in NV but only Mirelurk Kings. I'm also missing my beautiful custom weapon collection from FO 3 like the Rock-it Launcher or the Dart Gun.

How about you? What would you like to see again in this game?

The skill leveling system from Oblivion. Gaining master skills by practicing the respective skill over time. :read: :flamethrower: :gun:

EDIT: oh by "or others" you meant other Fallout games. I wish there were more subways and seweres to explore.

Random encounters. Not specific people, as isn't it too far along timewise for any of them to still be around? Not sure of this though. I honestly can't think of anything other than random encounters that I'd like to see in NV.

Yeah I'd like random encounters as well.
But I'd also like to see the old Laser Rifle back in the game. (Wattz 2000)

Random encounters, slavery, collectable items (6 snowglobes WTF), a large urban area like the DC ruins to explore (I accept that given the setting of New Vegas this isn't entirely possible), more skill related perks (gun nut, scoundrel etc.), more craftable weapons (rock-it launcher, deathclaw gaunlet).

I plan to try my hand at modding that next. (but it would be nice for that to have shown up in NV as a given ~or in DLC perhaps.)

I mean, I am sure House would have some cards in his sleeve.

More Enclave though they seem to be pretty dead in the east.

That's due to the plot of Fallout 2.

What I want to see changed hmmm?

Complete overhaul of the stat and skill system to bring it in line with the originals. Overhaul the combat system too, so we have it more like the originals too. That way we don't have the problem of the universal DT is now on energy weapons.

Well they were around on the West Coast until the Chosen One blew them and their base to kingdom come in Fallout 2.

@Valkebus. Liberty Prime was a PROTOTYPE which means there was only ever one of 'him' period.

@Astrobleme. Fallout has always had and should always have a completely different levelling system than TES. Personally I found the TES system at least in Oblivion to mind numbingly boring due to how repetitive it was.

I'd have loved to see the old unarmed combat system come back, with the full vats targetting selection again.

I really liked Fawkes and would love to see him wander into a DLC or another game some day. :)

What do I want brought back from Fallout 3? Nothing- I look forward (hopefully) to a future in which Fallout fans refer to Fallout 3 the way Highlander fans refer to Highlander 2. :D

What I'd like to see brought back is everyone from Black Isle who can get along- them handed total control, and Bethesda's grubby clown paws off my Fallout. No more Behemoths, carebear Brotherhood of Steel wannabes, Optimus Liberty Prime, Broken Endings Steel, unnecessary level cap raises destroying what little sensibility the system had to begin with...

And I want the two most important VATS targets back: Eyes and Groin. Ah, good times sledgehammering Raiders in the groin. This "FORE" nonsense in New Vegas is a cheap substitute. :D

What I would like to see again? Eye and Crotch Shot on the VATS. Blind and 4x the critical with the Eye and Humiliation with the Crotch.

Then there K-9, the talking dog and a revamp of the Sniper Perk that make it all so powerful in Fallout 1 and 2 (rolling Luck twice to always get critical).

Dropping the TES gameplay and reintroducing the travel system of the older games with all that comes with it. Turnbased combat again.

...yeah, won't happen as it is now, I know.

For something more likely, random encounters.

I've just read the first comment but you can find the Rock-It Launcher schematics over at the Boomer's warehouse place where the plane is in. You'll find it towards the back and you have to steal it. As for what I want from FO3 in NV, well I want a lot. This game lacked the majority of things that made FO3 amazing and fun to play. I'd like to see a game that wasn't rushed through and lacking depth and detail in the game aside from the overly hyped story.

What things and what gameplay? (exactly, I mean)
I ask because (based on what I've seen so far), the gameplay appears all but identical to FO3, but for the expanded ammo and crafting ~but those seem to work fine.
What lack of depth and detail? (Granted, I'm not past the NCR outpost, and still on my first play through, but so far it just seems like FO3+)

I hate to be the bearer of bad new but your beloved Black Isle and their Fallout series died sometime back in the 90's. It was Bethesda's engineering of the game that brought it into the modern day, revived the series and put the marketing money into it. Without Bethesda's help the series would have ended and Obsidian wouldnt have been able to even think about making New Vegas. Clearly there was a reason Black Isle failed and something tells me trying to do a comeback tour would result in a lot of lost investment from whoever were to produce it.

Obsidian is essentially the Remnants of Black Isle. Also keep in mind that Bethesda isn't the only one eying on the remains of Fallout when it was "auction". Safe to say, if Bethesda wasn't there, someone else would have bought the franchise.

Also, Black Isle "failed" because they were laid off by Interplay when they were making Fallout 3 :Van Buren. Interplay laid them off just so they can use the resource to create this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N-Xs1tm-9-U&feature=related. This abomination lead to the said bankruptcy and lead to a trail of event that lead the Fallout Franchise to being bought out by Bethesda.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but do you know how many former Black Isle employees work for Obsidian? There's a reason New Vegas "feels" so much more like the old Black Isle Fallouts, and it's not because of Bethesda's influence.

Now, as to your "lost investment" claims- you mean like all the money they're "losing" on New Vegas? I'd bet many companies wish they could produce such losses.

Not so... Bethesda outbid, because Zenimax had deep pockets; Others were in for the bid too.
(I agree with you about Obsidian not even thinking about creating New Vegas though... If not restricted, they could likely have done even better.)

Clearly; Invisible in fact..... Also didn't they get fired around 2003?
