Perennially, I see people who look like other people I know or have seen.

I've got a few:

One night last summer, me and my friend were driving through my neighborhood at about 1am. Everything was deserted and the streetlights produced an eerie orange glow. As we turned onto a street, I saw a shadow about 100 meters away cross the street at a fairly fast speed. It was a human figure and passed directly under a streetlamp, but it was just moving too fast to be human. I couldn't speak for a few minutes just because I was so... astonished I guess. It left a very bad feeling in my stomach for the rest of the night.

Yeah, you need to see a psychiatrist.

My psychologist disagrees.

I only ever once had the sensation of someone sitting by my bed. I was very little, very sleepy, and maybe a little sick.

Often when I'm on the computer in the dead of night in a dark room I see human-like figures moving around the room at incredible speed for a split second.

You and me both. I see those all the time. I wonder why that happens......

I've never seen things like that- though I have seen strange figures out of the periphery of my vision, from time to time. They're never there when I look straight at them (which I inevitably do, reflexively).
I figure I'm probably seeing something's reflection in my glasses.
Which doesn't explain those times when there hasn't been anything moving for them to reflect, but whatevs.

I was casually reading the last few pages of this thread, and as I get up to go get something to eat from the kitchen, I realize I'm too [censored] scared. :pinch:

Have you ever watched a scene where a character asks something, and there's a dramatic moment of silence where you sit on the edge of your seat hoping the other character says what you want them to say in response? Well, I was watching a scene like that in a television show, with the subtitles on, hoping a character would say what I was hoping they'd say. When he finally spoke, it was not what I was hoping for, but the subtitles said exactly what I was hoping he'd say, word for word. And this was a long sentence, not just "yes" or "no." I'm sure of what I heard, and I'm sure of what I read, and they were two entirely different things. It was pretty damn freaky and I still have no idea what would explain it. It couldn't even be due to natural errors in the subtitles, because what I was thinking wasn't remotely similar to what the character actually said.

Other than that, though, nothing particularly odd happened to me as a kid. But my memory is so awful that even if something did happen, I don't remember it. Hell the above memory only emerged after I read a particular post here that reminded me of it.

Yeeeeap. If by 'special' you mean 'lucky to avoid being molested and/or shot by creepy hill-dwelling pot farmers'. >.>

It's kind of sad that as I read your story, instead of thinking "that must have been a great experience" I thought "wow that was really unsafe." :P

Yeah, my brother did that to Wesley Crusher. The line was "You already haaaaave". With the emphasis like that. He'd never even seen the episode, so I put it down to hack writing. No subtitles though.

Wow that's really interesting. Kind of the same figure too, heightwise definitely. I don't know about thickness, however. I didn't see it long enough to tell.

But now I guess I can relate to all of those crazy creature/ufo stories. I know what I saw.

Looking back on it now, I completely agree with you. At the time, though, the thought never even crossed my mind that going into the deep woods by myself was a bad idea. I was kind of an idiot as a kid. A tomboy who was really into nature, sure... but an idiot.

Most of the things that I've seen are probably just a result of an activbe imagination, as opposed to something paranormal.
I remember when I was real little, my family and I were going to a relative's place in the car. I looked out of the window, and I saw a tiny little car, like a remote control car, driving along side us. I assume it was a dream, but it seemed pretty real to me.
Some weird thing happened on a school camp when I was 11 too. We were playing hide and seek in the dark, and I was hiding around the side of a cabin. I looked into the trees, and I saw something that seemed to resemble a wombat running off under the bush. I have no idea what it was, as there aren't really any animals like that in New Zealand. Anyway, later that night I was struggling to get to sleep. At one point, I opened my eyes, and I saw a "ghostly" hand pointing at the door to our cabin. I quickly closed my eyes, and when I opened them, it was gone. It freaked me out though, because a girl in our cabin had said at one point that she had been talking to her sister's dead boyfriend.

A lot of weird things have happened to my friend though. She told me that when she was about 5, she remembers seeing a guy who was dressed for the desert wandering down their street with a camel. No-one believes her, but I kinda do, coz a have a very vague memory of something like that. Also, a few months ago she told me that every morning she would find the same Stephen King book put in exactly the same place near her door. She'd always put it back, but it'd always end up back in the same place by her door. I suspect that it could be her brothers playing tricks on her, or someone who is sleepwalking (as she and her siblings all seem to have weird sleeping habits), but as far as I know, she still hasn't found out why that was happening.

So, I don't really have anything inexplicable, but I think if I dug around in my memories enough I'd be able to find something. Also, http://www.cracked.com/article_18828_the-creepy-scientific-explanation-behind-ghost-sightings.html may provide the explanation to some of your experiences. It's a little.. harsh, so if you strongly believe in ghosts and stuff you may not want to read it.

Meh, that's a bit too general for me. All the article talked about was infrasound, and made no mention of electronagnetic fields, the play of light and shadows on the eyes, etc.. And, yet again, I see that mindset of "If it hasn't be proven, it doesn't exist".

Since I plan on doing investigating myself, I'll be the one to see (or not see) the truth behind the matter. Knowing general scientific opinion, I might not even report any findings I may get. Who would believe them? Of course, I'll be doing everything in my power to try and find a plausible explanation. If I shouldn't find any, though...

Vibrating tubes only explain shadowy, blob-like images. Not specific things like, say, a ghostly hands.

Reminds me of another little story I have. It wasn't something uber weird, so I didn't list it in my original post. But anyway, at my previous house, I was playing Call of Duty when I saw this pitch black figure shoot into my dark closet out of the corner of my eye. It made me jump like a [censored], but I wasn't about to call it a ghost. And yes, I'm aware that people hallucinate, the mind plays tricks, and perhaps certain sound frequencies do cause some strange things, but to attribute that to every single report and file them all under bull[censored] is just being unfair and extremely biased. As far as I'm concerned, it hasn't been proven or debunked yet, so it's still in the air.

I spent the night with my friend one time when we were in 6th grade. At about 1 or 2 in the morning, we heard a noise come from the back of the house. We both armed ourselves with baseball bats and went to check out the noise. We didn't find anything, but it creeped us out the rest of the night.

Another time, the same friend spent the night with my other friend at his grandma's house. They said that they heard someone knock at the door, and when they went to go see who it was no one was there.

Neil Degrasse Tyson has something to say to all of you, and this thread.

Just because you can't personally explain something doesn't mean it can never be explained logically, or that it's supernatural. It's a logical fallacy.

Not saying that at all. I've stated every time the topic has come up that I know many, perhaps even all, paranormal experiences can be scientifically explained in some way or another. The problem is, the very nature of such experiences, being that they are all personal ones, along with the fact that even when documented are still not believed by anybody but the ones who came up with the evidence, means that we may never find out one way or the other. It's a very sensitive subject matter with many, many different viewpoints.

Also, that "logical fallacy" works both ways: "or is false only because it has not been proven true." You have the two mindsets that the video goes into detail with, and then you have one such as mine, where I merely think there is a possibility that a thing such as "ghosts" may exist. Honestly, in a universe where science thinks we can travel through time via wormholes in space created by the conundrum that is the black hole, I can't see why they won't give creepy images and sounds a chance.

Meh, it's still interesting though. And I don't blame pipes for that hand, just my imagination

Not just seen, but experienced multiple times:
Out of body, like crawling on the ceiling around the house. or even through the window up to the roof.
also, the feeling of growing large, filling up space in my room.
Many times I woke up on the floor away from my bed.

oh, and I saw my sister possesed (or at least i thought I did)

 still creeps me out thinking about it.

When I'm right on the edge of being awake and asleep, I often 'hallucinate' that someone is sitting on my bed. I feel their weight; I hear them breathe. Sometimes they talk to me; usually they don't. Occasionally they get up and walk around my room. They're never there when I turn the light on and I've never found anything out of place, so I have no reason to believe that people are, yanno, actually creeping into my room at night. But the experience is still incredibly vivid and realistic.
Last night, however, I happened to read about http://www.creepypasta.com/the-rake. Who apparently comes into your room at night, and sits on your bed. And occasionally prowls around your room. Watching.
I may never sleep again. :c

Also, when I was living by myself (and going to college), I had a poltergeist who lived in my studio apartment. He used to open and shut the door to my fridge late at night. And fiddle with the taps in the bathroom.
He was mostly harmless, though. (Hey, at least he didn't drink out of the carton.)

I should not have read that... I won't be able to sleep. :o

When I was little, I once dreamt that I found something I had lost. I woke up the next day, and went to the location in the dream, and I found what I was looking for. It was rather odd.
