This game doesn't svck me in... Why?

Post » Fri Jun 08, 2012 8:55 am

I used to be insanity addicted to Oblivion, Fallout 3 and New Vegas but not for this game, I barely play it more than 1-2 hours before ejecting the game out and put Battlefield 3 in. Is there something missing in this game or I have lost my interests in role playing games like I did with FF13? Tell me guys, what keeps you to play this game, what really pulls you in? I may be playing in wrong role I don't like.

There is too much to do. It's like an eagle sinking its razor-sharp talons into me.

The quests in this game are uninteresting, as well as the dialogue, factions, combat, and NPCs.

I can see why it's overwhelming sometimes, but I like those kinds of games. Of course Skyrim could've been better, but I've been playing 220 hours and I'm still not bored...heck, I haven't even used magic yet!

Eh just read up on all the other hundred threads about why people have stopped playing skyrim. So I'd say look for one of those threads....

I could see that, in fact I have lots of unfinished side/miscellaneous quests in my log and I don't feel motivated to do those quests.

You have fallen to the dark side of gaming by playing BF3 or any other shooter. Once you fall to the dark side, there is no coming back. I think...

I just figured I wasn't as interested in RPGs anymore. I find that if you don't like it, you can't really play a certain technique to make it more enjoyable. (Lots of people think differently. Just my opinion)
But for me, I usually get svcked into it when I have something specific to do.

Some people find fun in fast-paced action, others like a slower, more imaginative experience. I'm more the latter than the former, but it's foolish expect everyone to enjoy a game like Skyrim.

I'd say that Skyrim is far far away from anything I'd call an "RPG".

No, the dark side is the last 3 Call of Duty games and MMOs. Otherwise it is a game by game basis.

We get older. We have priorities. We want to allocate our time to all sorts of things, not just one thing anymore. That's what is appealing about first person shooters and phone app games- they're instant gratification.

The better technology gets, the faster we get our 'fix'. It's harder as we get older to feel as gratified by long term engagement of almost anything.

This isn't the case with everyone mind you, but I think it applies to a lot of people.

For me personally I find keeping play time down to 2 hours a time keeps me interested. If I had time to attempt a 6 hour session I know id get bored.

Come back to it in a week?

Sometimes, I don't want to play a game where I really have to think about anything much, so I play some Gears instead. Sometimes, I want to play something that makes me feel distracted, so I play Skyrim.

Granted, what I like about playing Skyrim is that I enjoy restarting and building a character in a little different a way. In Morrowind and Oblivion, I always ended up playing the same way, while in Skyrim I've found myself trying different things and the results are interesting. Apart from all that, I will always love sneaking around everywhere and stealing everything that isn't nailed down.

Basically this and Bethesda removed too much content that was in the previous games.

Exactly. To each their own.

I used to spend hours upon hours on Morrowind throughout high school, but now with a career and important priorities, it's difficult to ...wait, no it's not. I probably spend more time with RPGs now than ever.

Ah, I love being white-collar and kid-free.

Because the writing is ultimately shallow, tthere are very few tangible consequences and reactions for our actions, and many of the quests are automated by the new radiant story system that they are so proud of.

TC, I agree with you, couple of hours then I'm done, boring quests, boring gameplay, boring world.

Did you really think godhead thought his opinion was the gospel truth, or do you think putting in my opinion at the end of every post is redundant.
