A thread for non-anime fans

It just felt to me as if you were implying it, considering it was the only show mentioned in that post (and that example) that wasn't an anime. Sorry if I took you wrong.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Avatar:_The_Last_Airbender
"Avatar: The Last Airbender (also known as Avatar: The Legend of Aang)[1] is an American animated children's television series...created and produced by Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko, who served as executive producers along with Aaron Ehasz."

It just seemed to me that you believed some people thought Samurai Jack was an anime, in which I said that those two words shouldn't appear in the same paragraph. It was not an attack on you.

It was pretty decent, its just a shame it had to be canceled right around the time it was getting good (And serious).

Well, you see, I was a boy and they were all girls. I was young! I didn't know! :cries:

Oh dear god. That character must have weights in her shoes to counter act those things.

i honestly wonder how junko could run through the desert without inertia killing her before a gun. thats just weird..

i remember being forced to see Sailor moon, i think the one part i remember most is when these girls in odd(could help in combat at all) schoolgirl uniforms started playing rock paper scissors over something, now i cant remember.

i did wish they continued Teen Titans, I did like Slade though(Deadpool) although i did think Raven kind of stole that show. not that it was a bad thing.

no prob, man...no worries, odds are this will all be deleted anyway.

Really? Thats one of my favourite things about animation in general, Mechs lightyears tall throwing galaxies at each other is completely unfeesable, but i'll be damned if i don't want to see it happen.

I find the art style of anime to just be very annoying, I also find the majority of anime avatars here annoying.

I hate anime with a bloody passion that burns with the intensity of a thousand fiery horses.

But, I used to love a few animes when I was a little kid. I loved Dragonball (Z, GT, etc.), Tenchi Muyo, and Sailor Moon. But that's the thing, I liked it as a little kid. I stopped when I turned 11 or 12 and haven't looked back. Despite the advlt undertones in most animes, it's too childish for me. The animation style is pretty much the same for all of them (drawing style as well as character movement and speech), themes are repeated over and over again, and the fact that there are advlt undertones in a lot of animes completely disgusts me when you see that most 'women' and 'men' are portrayed as extremely youthful and even adolescent or younger.

Also, the way it consumes a lot of people (yes, I realize a lot of people have self-control and others get obsessed over other things) also disgusts me. The obsession in some animes with large-briasted anime girls in school uniforms is also a completely disgusting theme.

Overall, I hate it because it disgusts me. But I won't send the militia after people who like it.

I like the absurdity with the final confrontations, myself. Like fighting a boss in an anime RPG out in space, or having the area around the characters suddenly morph into the twelfth dimension of Nonsensylvania. From a logistical standpoint, it's completely retarded, but as long as it makes that final confrontation the most epic thing in the universe, I love it.

And once again, generalizations run rampant. I could just as easily say or make up those things about western cartoons, reality TV shows (sadly, people being obsessed with them IS true), and other such entertainment. The part where logic comes in is when you actually engage the shows and stop making sweeping statements based upon a small sample of shows (especially considering all of those you listed ARE aimed at 12 year old boys). Watch some Cowboy Bebop. Watch some Lucky Star. Watch some Deathnote. Expand the boundaries. If I played only Mario and Rayman when I was a child and then forgot about them, I could make the statement that all games are for children. I would be very wrong.

I don't care if someone doesn't like anime, but I do very much care for the reasons why.

snip

I don't know why but the only anime in games I can handle is Gundam. I can't stand JRPG style much, for my anime liking is quite wide. I could be watching Hellsing or Deathnote one hour and Lucky Star the next. It all depends on personal preference. I think it may be possible for most people to like at least a little bit of anime or manga in some small part. There is a lot of diversity in it. Then again hating the style of it can't be cured.................

What are these "mature" animes you found childish if I may ask?

The general theme in this thread seems to be "Well I didn't like [insert childish or perverted anime here], so they all must be childish and/or perverted!"

And that is just a terribly unfair generalization, both to the fans who you diss and to the would-be fans who you put off.

I may get around to that one sometime. I remember seeing an episode on Swim one night a long time ago, but I kept going into laughing fits whenever the http://www.michaeljohngrist.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/2009%203march%20big%20sight%20anime/big%20sight%20anime%2090037.jpg spoke.

I'd rather not...

EDIT: The thing is, I hate a lot of Western TV shows as well, but I don't see a lot of the shows around here turning people into the equivalent of weeaboos.

I know it doesn't do that for a lot of people who watch it, but all of the anime fans I've known are like that. And I usually judge things by their results. I'm not one for generalization; I have seen Cowboy Bebop, Deathnote, and Inuyasha; and it's really the same story there as well.

Brotherhood was leaps and bounds much better than the "original". Brotherhood actuality has a deep story this time around and not just all fighting. But the "original" anime did get me into anime again thanks to it so I thank it for that.

Not all shonen is bad at all, it's the cliches more popular shonen are full of that give it its bad reputation.

Yes I agree and I'm a big fan of it. Lets just say it's not for starters of anime. Only veterans like me can take the physical pain and turn it into pleasure.
