Try this link to d/l a voltage monitoring program http://www.cpuid.com/

Also find a temperature monitoring program for both cpu and video card

best way to find out total system power is to actually measure it http://www.p3international.com/products/p4460.html

But the voltage monitor is key, cause you could have total load well under 600Watts, but have 1 or more supply voltages drop too low

A 600W PSU should be fine. I have a 650W PSU and my PC runs just peachy. In fact, I have power to spare.

Of course, the PSU could always be going bad since it's previously used.

Yes but lets explore the possibilty rather than assuming anything

Some computers have the appearence of shutting down, but they are actually in power-save mode.

Try pressing on the keyboard or pushing the power button, if it goes straight back to what you were doing and not to a boot up screen then you can fix it in properties.

I just downloaded that CPUID and it only tells me the
Max TDP which is 130w
and the core voltage 1.224v

Should I turn them up to 20% I turned two of the 3 up to 20% and now my cores are all at 30c

I don't think you've actually answered whether or not it shuts off when you're actually using it. I'm going to assume that it does, thus it is probably a hardware issue such as overheating or lack of power. So my suggestion would be to maybe get a new PSU. Perhaps take it somewhere and see if they can test it for you?

And six cores? Really? That's a bit overkill if you ask me.

If your computer using more than 300W sans graphics card(s) they you have an issue. The maximum a CPU can use is 160w, most are <95w. [This is maximum power usage, they don't use this most of the time.] Unless you have 10+ hdds a 600W PSU is fine. If its a quality 600W PSU anyway.

If you Fan PWM is reading zero then the fan is not operating, its plugged into the wrong fan header, or the HSF/motherboard is otherwise defective.

Or the program just doesn't know what the hell it's talking about.

I just turned them on to 20% maybe they where turned off? because my CPU fan was reading at 2500 - 3000 RPM before turning it on

Its still happening. Once I turned it back on the PWM fans were back a 0%
Should I turn off thr power savings?

Did you try leaving it on whilst in BIOS and if so did it stay turned on?

I've left BIOS on for hour and a half and still on.

If it kept turning itself off every 20 mins and has not done it for 90 mins whilst in BIOS I would think it's a problem with your operating system (Windows) If it is faulty you will probably need to reinstall it, that at this stage is my best guess.

Your other option would be to get in touch with the people that built your computer and have them look at it. I assume you have some kind of warrenty with it

is it really quiet? can you hear the fan at all. my step dad bought a computer at a recycling place that supposedly worked, and it kinda did. but they gave it to him in a box that had a bit of dirt and yard waste in it. not alot but just a twig or two, some dirt and maybe four leaves. something in my step dad's computer screwed with the fan and it would over heat and just turn off suddenly.

Have you installed windows again?

If you have then I suspect it is a hardware issue rather than software.
