You can't directly uninstall windows, however if you have a previous operating programme such as vista you can install that over it. It will replace all the files, programmes and setting on your computer however.

Personally if I were you (like I said in an earlier post), I would take it back where you bought it, your warrenty should cover having it sorted. The problem is it may not even be the software but a faulty piece of hardware and if you are unsure about a PC's fuctions it may be safer for you to do it this way.

TBH I am unsure where to go from here, if it turns itself off before you can do anything I'm not sure exactly what you can do.

I will look into the problem and see what I come up with.

If it's the OS you can always download Ubuntu or some other Unix -based OS and burn it to a CD/but it on a USB stick and boot your PC from that. That way you can access your files and reformat your hard drive.

Send it back to where it came from and have them fix it under the warranty. This is exactly what it's for. You payed good money for it, so use their free labour.

Did they even give you Windows 7 disk and key? Most places do not. They just give you a "restore disk".

It might not be Win7's fault either. From what I can tell, there is no legitimate active OS installed.

Operating System:Microsoft Windows 7 Enterprise Trialversion German, preinstalled for testing purposes

(As Shipped)

Additional Specifications - Operating System: None

The system builder probably nuked their testing install prior to shipping, and that version isn't intended for retail home users anyway. You can't legitimately run the trial version forever, nor can it be upgraded. That also helps explain how you can access the BIOS just fine, but not the desktop with any reliability. Expired/unvalidated Trial Versions of Win7 will also cause the PC to shut down every hour until resolved. Though, this 20 minute shutdown sounds suspiciously like a default Power Scheme setting, as Ditre mentioned.

kacj321, Do what wolfpup advised. Contact the system builder for assistance. You'll also need to purchase a retail version of Win7, if that's what you want to run on this PC.

Don't do that. If anything, use the Ubuntu live cd/dvd to boot to the Ubuntu desktop and see if the machine cuts off; otherwise don't bother.

I looked at the video, but could not tell if it was shutting off or just rebooting.

This is good advice for anything under warranty. They are on the hook to make sure it works; let them make sure it works.

It is possible that the CPU fan/heatsink is not entirely in contact with the CPU ~this would certainly shut it down if the case... Its AMD and you say you are new with PCs, so while I'd normally suggest you check the heatsink, I would not recommend doing this on your new computer if you've never done it before; Also you should only tinker with the inside after the warranty expires ~else you almost certainly void it.
**** EDIT: After re-reading the OP, I see that you said 20 minutes (I was thinking it was 2 minutes); that would not be a heatsink issue with the CPU.

If it has never worked (you said you got it today /yesterday), send it back, and don't tinker with it.

Possible, but possibly not. Its not doing an awful lot just idling in the BIOS. Playing around with the Ubuntu Live CD (running apps, surfing the web, running any kind of Benchmarks) could expose or disprove a few things.

You will pretty much need Windows to run most applications and games. For applications there often are linux equivalents but for games you need Windows or have to use debatably legal solutions such as WINE, which might not even support your game.
