I don't have a PS3, so I won't be getting it any time soon. I'm still working on FF12 though, so I'm in no rush.

13 reminds me of FF8 for some reason though. Maybe just the gun blades and other funky weaponry.

It's on Xbox360 and PS3, so if you have Xbox...

I'll probably rent XIII eventually. I've read several different reviews, and what I gathered is that it's an unbelievably linear dungeon crawler. That doesn't mean it isn't a good game, and it does seem to be good, but many reviews say that after the 60 hours it takes to beat it, there is absolutely no reason to play it again. So in my mind, it's worth playing, just not buying. One of it's features is that it has amazing graphics, but they aren't as amazing on the 360 version as I've seen in comparison videos. It's disappointing though, I was hoping this would be a really good RPG, but it seems to have failed in a lot of the RPG aspects.

http://www.rpgfan.com/reviews/Final_Fantasy_XIII/index.html is my favorite review of it, it seems very honest and doesn't seem to be out to insult the game.

I don't have Xbox either, but I wouldn't want to get the lesser version even if I did.

Any one know if it's still 2-3 disk's on the xbox.

And if it's going to have some sort of multiplayer i heard a rumor that it was going to be added.

The review that Antibody linked to, the guy mentioned FFXIII Versus twice, so I'm guessing that's a future DLC/purchase.

It's three discs on the Xbox 360, and I doubt there'll be multiplayer in XIII. What you heard was most likely about Final Fantasy XIV, Square's next MMO and successor to Final Fantasy XI.

Also, yes. FFXIII, Versus XIII and Agito are all part of the Fabula Nova Crystallis series.

I watched that My Hands video. Pretty bad in my opinion, and not the good bad either. The music is just terrible pop music and it doesn't really match the action. I groaned out loud when it showed a car shooting fire at some enemies while that chick was singing about love or some crap like that. I don't what the game is like, but that really turned me off from it.

There's one on XBL that I downloaded that had voices and what not. Made no sense. I had to look up what the hell a l'cie was.

EDIT: Wingus beat me to it, but yeah, song svcks hard. I hate this Leona Lewis chick. They should have just done an orchesteral theme or something.

Well, I don't think the song is bad. I wouldn't have it on my MP3 player or anything, but it's not bad.

I think they just chose a "catchy" song that they could put behind cutscenes from the game, which is fine with me lol. I know that the music in the game is going to be epic and orchestral and amazing and everything I want it to be.

You can't just judge an entire game on a bad song in a trailer. The soundtrack for the actual game is supposed to be amazing.

Apparently the youtube community disagrees with you :P

Yeah...I'm not even a FF fan...but after watching this trailer...i might actually get the game. lol if this song plays after i beat the game...im down!

I'll bet some people who have never play any FF games before would be tempted to get FFXIII cause of the song & the trailer. (:

Gotta love Leona Lewis that's my girl.

Very beautiful..

O.o you're quoting the YouTube community on something?

Either way, I really can't wait for XIII to come out. I'm gonna have to get EVERYTHING for school done Monday before release lol.

Eh, the only videos I'd judge a game by are gameplay vids. Trailers don't do much for me. Unless they're awesome CGI movies like the Dragon Age one.

Well yeah, of course they're not going to explain the story through the trailer...

I don't agree with the youtube community

Not even this time

It's ok to quote them though

Even if 99% of the time their opinion doesn't mean anything

Edit: Well I just got Eiko in my party in FFIX

Gotta do a bunch of training so she learns all the skills that I can teach her right now

It's gonna be a couple hours more since I got about 20 ap of Phoenix left and about 75 ap for auto-reflect

Meh, I never used her that much. My main party was always Zidaine, Dagger, Vivi and Steiner. Everybody else, I only trained for the AP.

Auto-reflect's practically useless, due to the fact that it means you'll be using items instead of spells, and they're limited to a single character. My advice to you would be to dump her, but IIRC, you stick with her for a while longer.

Null reflect is learned by dagger, vivi, and eiko

I'll keep auto reflect for all my characters, equip null reflect for my healers, and equip 2X reflect for vivi

With that even lower level spells like Fira should do about 9,999 damage for lower magic while being able to heal myself without items

The only problem is getting auto-haste and auto-regen along with all the status protection abilities

Most likely I'll abandon auto-reflect for auto haste and auto-regen and equip the status protection abilities

Oh snap, forgot about Null-Reflect. I remember wondering what the point of that was when I played it a few years ago. Now I know... :P
Say, when you cast Fira on your reflected characters, does the reflected Fira spread around the enemies, or is it only to one enemy?

I'm replaying FFVI now. It's okay, but I want to get Setzer and his airship so I can fly around the world.

It will spread around but the damage dealt can be kinda random

Sometimes it will leave one enemy completely unscathed and other times it will spread the damage evenly

I actually had to take off auto-reflect when I fought
Spoiler
soul cage
because I thought he'd do a lot of damage (though he didn't, of course it helps being level 60 so early in the game)

But I still ended up using the reflect trick by using carbuncle

Vivi was in trance and I had Eiko summon carbuncle then I had Vivi double cast blizzara on the party

Spoiler
Soul cage
died after the second hit, each hit doing about 8,000 points of damage

Of course I could have just used
Spoiler
life since soul cage is undead
but that wouldn't be any fun now would it?

Another nifty trick that I learned a while ago was to use a tent on the enemy. It will cause multiple status effects (ie blind, silence, and I believe poison) to the enemy when you use it on them.

When I fought
Spoiler
Amarant
I used a tent on him and I had distract equipped so he only hit me once during the battle (doing about 400 points of damage when Zidane had about 4,200)

I'm not judging the game on the music, I'm just saying it was a bad choice and clashes with the onscreen action. I'm judging it off Edge Magazine's review, which says you have to go through 20 hours of boringness to get to good stuff.

http://www.metacritic.com/games/platforms/ps3/finalfantasy13. And as you can see, Edge is the lowest score there. Gee, I wonder why. Ignore the ones that give the game a great score, and ignore the ones that give it a terrible score, because both of them are likely biased in some way. Read some of the reviews that gave average scores http://www.rpgfan.com/reviews/Final_Fantasy_XIII/index.html I linked to earlier. I'm not trying to change your mind or get you to like this game, but you should give it a chance. I was dead set against buying this game when I read some of the low scoring reviews, and the high scoring reviews that made it sound suspiciously awesome, but after I read some of the average scoring ones I decided it was worth renting.
