Yes, that laptop can definitely run Skyrim at 1080p. I'm guessing it might be a bit above your original budget of $1000.

EDIT: ninja'd :ninja:

Maybe. Your case needs to be big enough, you need proper cooling, a strong enough PSU, and you need to check the total PCI express lanes that your MB supports. There are other considerations, as well, but those are the main ones.

However, you'll be unlikely to see a large performance increase above 2 cards.

Hold up... PCI express lanes? I have liquid cooling and a 750 PSU

It's also extreme overkill. There's not much benefit to having more than 2 GPUs from my experience.

And there's not much reason to have more than 6 GB of RAM, either.

The MB can only support a limited number of lanes. Optimal is x16. They represent the speed of data transmission. Most MBs only support two cards in x16 configuration.

Also, your PSU is not strong enough for 4 cards. You need the cooling on all of them. With 4, you need to pass the fluid out to the radiator more often so you're not carrying heated fluid to the other cards, rendering your loops ineffectual.

Yes, I completely agree. 6GB is plenty.

I have 16GB RAM in my laptop and this has no benefit for gaming. I've never seen any game utilize more than 2-3GB of RAM at a time.

Ok, you only have two slots which even support more than x1. So, you'd only be able to run 2 cards and get anything out of them.

45 - 60. It's hard to predict, but that should be your general range. Also, it shouldn't matter too much if you get the 1 GB version or the 2 GB version. The Ti version is arguably better, with its greater performance.

I'm not sure specifically for Skyrim, but my understanding is that most PS3/Xbox versions of recent games run at around 1280x720 (or lower resolution), with no AA or 2xAA and no AF
