Unofficial World of Warcraft Thread 2

Agreed. I think we should designate a server for the forumers to all make characters on, maybe take a vote on what kind of server. So that there's no advantage, we could make one that nobody has a character on.

I'd be up for that, whether Horde or Alliance doesn't bother me but it would be nice for everyone to start again fresh, I think. Transferring large sums of gold from your main to your levelling alt has started to get a bit old and cheap, having level 80 friends doing all the group quests for you etc... I, for one, am ready to start anew.

I'll probably avoid the new races and stick to the classic ones, the only class I haven't played to at least 40 is Warrior, I don't know though... Something always put me off.

I'll look in to it. Since we'd all be starting out from scratch, it'd be alot more fun. I don't know how many people play on RPG servers here; I usually just play on Normal servers.

I always play normal or PvP, I just noticed one problem though.

Some of us will be playing EU and some US... :P

Damn, lol. How bad would lag/connection problems be for a person in the U.S. playing on a EU server?

Pretty bad I'm guessing. Even worse for someone in California...

Impossible! You need a European account to play on EU servers I think.

Not in my experience. When I first got the trial for the game a few years ago I accidentally played my 10 day trial on the US servers. My connection was so unaffected that I didn't even realise that I was on the US servers until I bought the game (Which purely by accident, again, was the EU version) and couldn't carry on with my trial character that I realised I'd been playing the US version

Yeh that's true though, it's a different client and everything as far as I know. :(

I'll add it. Do you read Ctrl-Alt-Del by any chance? I figured because of your name...

Yes I do actually. I was going to go with faildruid but that name was taken so I decided to fail even in the name and call myself faeldruid. I like the way it looks. :)

Yeah i figured, Faildruid is awesome :P

While the idea of a "BGSF server" of sorts sounds like a cool idea I think it would be quite complcated, especially since some play on US and some on EU. But part of the reason I made this thread to begin with was to see who's playing, if someone plays on EU and meet someone else here who also does, and they decide to play together then that's awesome.

I however will probably not start on another server any time soon, I'm playing with a great guild composed of many of my closest friends, and I've even made and met (as in real life :P ) some good friends on that server. Me and a friend went to sweden and stayed for a week with a friend of ours we met through WoW actually. I'd never leave that behind to play somewhere else, at least not "full time" playing. I've got to many characters on Twilights Hammer as it is :P

My characters:

http://www.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Hydraxis&cn=Canus
http://www.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Hydraxis&cn=Ugghra
http://www.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Blackrock&cn=Ptaysanwee
http://www.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Blackrock&cn=Guttlecraw

Gear pretty much stinks on all of 'em. My friends jumped server, left the game, or don't play much, so there's no real reason to bother with advancing for raids, since PUG raids are much akin to shaving one's scrotum with a cheese grater - all the GS checks, achievement checks, reserved items, etc... :banghead:

But fishing is fun.

Added your characters and cleaned up the list a bit.

I did too but I need game time and my paypal isn't working and no one sells gamecards around here. I tried to buy some prepaid $50 visa credit cards at Mac's but their damn machine wasn't working so I couldn't buy them.

I think it's a sign I shouldn't play anymore. :P

Saw Alliance at its best yesterday at WSG. A level 12 warlock spamming absolutely everything he wanted to say, over and over. <_< Damn Internet trolls. Stupidity should be a crime.

Though it was slightly comical, as I ganged up with a level 19, and we thrashed him the the whole game. :P

Hehe, I remember a guy like that when I was farming Alterac Valley to get the black war wolf, he seemed to think that because he said something all of us would listen. What really happened was that I said "No, screw that, I'm here for quick marks, who's with me on killing the final boss right away?" After about 5 minutes we won :P

Argh I'm trying to find an actual raiding guild on my server now. Everyone in the PuG's has become so elitist that they achievments are an absolute neccesity, even for crazily simple things like HC's. I have raid experience up until Ulduar but then I sort of quit and now I'm back my past raid experience don't mean squat. Then I realised something rather alarmin, the server I'm playing on has a total population of 888 :o. That's horrendous, I knew the realm was bad but not that bad.

Make no wonder the AH has absolutely crashed... Anyone reccommend me a good EU realm to transfer to? A holy Pala and Mage need a home :(.

This is kind of spoiling the game for me a little bit. The whole "link achi" thing in LFG really hacks me off. I even see "Meet at training dummy for DPS test and gear inspection". I mean come on, just group up and have fun.

In terms of a good EU realm I would absolutely recommend Defias Brotherhood. Yes, it's RP-PvP but you really don't need to RP yourself (as long as you respect others when they RP). It has a large population, an almost perfect 50/50 faction ratio and has one of the best communities I've come across on WoW.

I'm not gonna post my characters because I don't want everyone being able to trace my online activity in WoW :P

I would definitely consider an RP realm.

While I don't have much interest in RP'ing myself I do whole heartedly believe they have the best community. I once grouped with 4 people from a RP realm with the random dungeon tool (Earthen Ring, I think) and they were 4 of the best guys I've ever met. We carried on and did a few more randoms together afterwards. I might transfer one of my characters today because Xavius is going down and I'm bailing out. Holy Pala or Mage?

888? Geez, there must be a really large line between the few good players left and the rest of the people who just spam trade or something. Well, good luck on your transfer.

Actually, I'd argue with you on that one. I'm a big advocate of "a game should be fun, not work" but really, when one or a few members of a raid don't know what to do or are just plain slacking, it ruins the fun for everyone. Repair costs, downtime and frustration are all results of people not knowing what to do, that's why people want achievements and check gear.

As for a good EU realm, I'm enjoying playing on Twilights Hammer, and I heard a friend of mine who plays ally got a server first on one of the new Icecrown bosses with his guild.

That's why I'm afraid to do any heroics or raids. I havn't done neither and honestly, I don't have UI mods up the ass and keybinds at all. I'd just fail the group. :P

Not knowing encounters svcks. Not knowing encounters as a healer is brutal and makes me want to cry. First time I did The Forge of Souls I had no idea what I was getting myself into. Our tank had top raiding gear and he wasn't difficult to heal, except on the final boss really, but all the melee DPS were getting creamed by AOE damage. Wasn't very fun.

If you wanna have an actual tactical, elimination-based AV game, go play on a RPG server. If you want some quick marks and wins, go play on the normal servers.

-My opinion on AV :P
