Unplayably laggy on 360 post-patch

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 2:59 pm

i wasn't going to post here, but then i remembered that i paid $55 and that gives me license to complain.
this game is brilliant--awesome concept, good controls, menus and execution are fantastic.
but it is unplayable due to lag.
is there a petition or anything i can contribute to in order for the game manufacturers to support this game and fix the issues before we absolutely ruin them by spreading our distaste of Bethesda all over the internet and all return our games?
this is pathetic. i would expect this from some cottage-industry, low-rent sort of developer. i guess we see Bethesda's true colors if they don't get on the stick and make this game worth playing.
thanks,
w

I've noticed that 5 on 5 (competition) setting usually has no lag. This is great and all, until i have a six that i have to tell to shove off cuz they we don't want to lag.

Problem is, Bethesda doesn't care. They know we'll buy their buggy trash no matter how often they wrong us. I've been playing and loving Bethesda games since Daggerfall. Man was that game buggy. I said to myself "well it's huge, they can't make something this big perfect." then it was their next game, and the one after that, and so on. Brink is easily the worst so far quality wise, but as mad as it makes me, Skyrim will be a preorder or launch day purchase for me. Which is sad, because Bethesda shouldn't be allowed to release games that aren't even close to being ready to launch.

i'll try that, but i don't think it should be my job to do that sort of thing. its not my job to support Bethesda's product. i want to jump on for about an hour and just have fun playing a good game without having to mitigate the game. the game already has rules, as well as a company that should stand behind their product and want me to have a good experience with it.
sorry to rant. good advice on the match-size.

"allowed?" my friend, this is free market capitalism, and they can put out whatever "buggy trash" they want to until they run out of $$. Which, they will, if we quit buying their buggy trash. We really need to be smart consumers. this is my first buy from Bethesda, and unless i see some major contrition, it will be my last.
it makes me sad, really. i was hoping this would be my "halo for people over 14 with brains and fraternity."

Well, kind of wishing I read this forum before buying the game. Wow. Ridiculously bush league. This isn't the PC Bethesda, so hows about you stop releasing half finished games on the console with the "Meh, we'll just patch it later. Wouldn't want to have to push back the launch date!" I've played with one group so far where the game wasn't laggy, and the game played just like I had hoped it would. The other 90% of my games have been absolute garbage. I was stupid enough to think it was me even though I don't get lag in any other game I play other than the odd hiccup.

I don't care if you admit you made a mistake, but come out and tell the customers you're actually working on it, and give a [censored] update to the progress. The whole "We're so pleased at the thousands.......... blah blah blah" thats how you inform us of a patch?

I'm off work in a few days. Pretty sure I'll be trading this game in while the value is high. Seems like one of those games that will be in the bargain bin within a few months for $20. Not because its not a great game, but because its an unfinished game.

Again. Absolute bush league. I'm disgusted with the quality of game you guys rushed out the door.

oh, if only this were the case of a game rushed out the door. this thing has been in dev a long time. i have been following the dev for about 2 yrs. it was delayed and delayed. if only we could blame this on a rushed-job. sadly, what we are dealing with is the apparent lack of real-world play-testing and a company that isn't in too big of a hurry to fix their mistakes, much to the chagrin of the people who paid good $$ for their half done, broken product.

Funny thing is, you know damn well they're reading what we're posting here, but won't say anything on the situation.

I'm never a guy who relies too much on reviews, but this game is getting systematically panned by most major review sites for a reason. Maybe in the future if reviewers keep telling me not to buy something I'll listen next time.

I'm at the point where I will never preorder another game unless they are a proven product. For example, I will buy L.A. Noire. Rockstar has had two straight game of the year awards with GTA IV and Red Dead Redemption. Never again will I buy something like this. I went back and watched video from their early promotion of this game and for the life of me I can't figure out how this game is so much uglier than what they are playing in these videos. Never have I bought a game that was so bad that the textures couldn't even load. I love the concept of this game but I feel like I have been tricked into buying a multiplayer only game. How could they even make a claim that this is a campaign played through multiplayer. Capturing an objective or escorting is nothing new. A short meaningless clip while the game loads does not make this a campain played thought multiplayer. Even that isn't a deal breaker. The fact that this game is literally broken is the deal breaker. They have until May 17th to fix this crap. I will trade this in when I pick up L.A. Noire. This will easliy be the first time I have paid for a game and traded it all within 7 days.

Yeah multiplayer just doesnt work at all. I can't move when I join a game, then I randomly jump about everywhere.

All the screen shots, videos and beautiful stuff we saw prior to the games release was certainly from a PC. I am going to post some comparisons soon enough, unless someone has a link to an already created comparison...

Have you tried playing in Advanced, Old School, or Competition mode? For some reason that fixed practically all of my latency problems.

Same for me, really terrible lag making it unplayable.

I host games nights for a community in the UK, would love to hear a patch is coming very soon (rather that a generic statement saying 'we're looking at it').
Or a lot of people will trade in.

We have been gracious in pre-ordering, please show us the courtesy back by telling us what's going on? :brokencomputer:

Yes, I have tried playing in old school objective and stopwatch. This seems to playable "most of time" but even then its far from what it should be, graphics issues also are still present. However it is true that this is the only mode I can get thru a match in.

I opened up my ports per the Microaoft article I read and gave it a go. Still lagged at times and still horrible matchmaking. What I have played is terribly fun though and I hope this gets resolved soon.

The game is awesome but the lag is horrible. that is my speed test from speedtest.net

Why am I lagging with speeds like this??? I could carry a few matches with my connection speeds. please fix this issue.

Surprisingly I had about 2 hours of quality online play last night. It was great. Hopefully they are actually making progress and it wasn't just a fluke. I didn't get any sort of new update or patch, so I'm thinking I just lucked out.

I think so... Release day all I got was lag. Next day 90% of play for 4 hours was lag free. Yesterday 100% lag.

so i believe we've had a breakthrough for the 360 lag issue. When in freeplay mode change your match type from standard to competitive. That's it, yes there are a couple hiccups every once in a while but not as bad as before. Happy gaming...

Yea. The majority of competitive went well for me over the last 2 nights.

it′s good to know that′s i′m not the only one who has the ussues.

first i thought it′s the typical disadvantage of living in europe(germany). because all of the american hosts out there.

i really hope the gonna fix the problem very soon. because there is absolut no fun playing like this.

laggy as hell is sometimes understated

Just wanted to drop by and link this thread where some have had a huge reduction in lag on Xbox 360:

While awaiting an update try changing your match type from Standard to Competitive. It has worked for many with lag problems.
