Unplayably laggy on 360 post-patch

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 8:17 pm

I have faith. Bethesda has always been one of my favorite Developers as well as Publishers.
So I know that if they are backing Splash Damage, everything will be good to go here soon.
Look at Fallout New Vegas, it had problems out the gate as well, and they did address and fix the problems, they didnt just abandon their consumers.

There is a problem, we all know that and have addressed that here.
It would be nice to hear some acknowledgement and the problem is being addressed.

But I'm not giving up on this game. I love the gameplay, and despite what others are complaining about graphics, story etc. for me, I love the game.
I'll ride this hype train straight off the cliff if need be, this is much I have faith in Bethesda and Splash Damage.

So here's hoping we hear something soon, if not I'll be toasting to what could have been a great game as this hype train derails & plummets off the cliff.

Brink's features, gameplay & story are amazing, but this Network lag is truly atrocious, it needs to be fixed ASAP.

We’ve also been getting new reports of lag when playing online, especially in matches with lots of human players. We’re all huge multiplayer fans here at the office and we know how important a lag-free online experience is. We’re urgently investigating this issue and seeing what we can do to improve things in that area. Stay tuned.

That's what they have to say on the bethesda blog site found here http://bethblog.com/index.php/2011/05/11/brink-%E2%80%93-an-update-from-splash-damage/

Hope they sort this out, the game has potential. Too many games are shipping with busted multiplayer, we as consumers need to put a stop to this

The last MP FPS game to release on Xbox with some publishing behind it, was Homefront. It experienced the same lag at the time of launch. Even CoD had a percentage of the issues with lag out of the box. With Activision and the money behind CoD, it gets fixed quickly. These smaller relatively unknown titles do not have the same luxury. We just have to be patient as consumers and don't take the road of thinking they pulled a fast one. Very few developers want their games to fail. The guys at Splash want this to work. Just give it some time.

What do I expect? Same as any other product I buy, for it to work as advertised. It's the biggest crutch the gaming industry has and we all now just accept that on day one or week one or even month one the online just won't work as intended. It's a crock. I did not pay $60 to be a beta tester, I paid to get a finished product.

The game itself is fantastic. I would hate to see it ruined because the biggest component of it is unplayable. It would be nice to see at the very least some kind of acknowledgement from SD that there is something wrong and a fix is on the way. Right now I feel like I'm being left to twist in the wind.

No Vegas is still glitched (360). They have not fixed the game, but have released DLC with another one coming next week - for a glitched game.

got Brink this afternoon.. most of the games have been mostly laggy. though some not. all host migrations fail. after every match. it try's to migrate. so i either get "disconnected". or it freezes my xbox.
i installed the patch first thing. this could be a good game.. i'm not sure sure as its sorta unplayable.
lack of any kind of lobby is weird. its hard to tell if you playing with people.. or bots.

DL'd the patch, and the lag is atrocious. I'm walking into walls and haven't had more than 5 seconds of continuous gameplay without game-breaking lagginess. I've spent the last hour with the screen skipping, or being frozen in place, or finding myself behind cover one second and unexplainably out of cover and 3 feet to my right a second later. I tried a dozen different games, hoping at first it was just a bad host. I bought this game for the multiplayer and can't even play it.

I was playing with a couple guys last night and we saw the lag spike uncontrollably when someone entered or exited the game, and also if we were playing with more than 4 people. Once we slimmed down to only four human players and the rest AI, the lag wasn't nearly as bad and we were able to play okay.

This seems to be the issue most are seeing. Also i'm not sure how their matchmaking is supposed to work, but when playing versus i can sometimes manage to get a full team of 8 without crippling lag, but there never seems to be anyone but bots on the other team, and the lack of a lobby doesn't make this any easier.

It really depends on the host and it seems like most hosts are just horrible people as they never have good connection. I have had the odd game that was good, but they are hard to find. I think they may need to do a major update to the multiplayer. Although on that same token, playing with my friends is perfectly fine.

Has anyone been able to get into an 8v8 versus match with all human players? At the moment it seems like it only tries to fill up one team.

No, I haven't. I tried playing Competitive last night and was able to enter the same 5 v 5 game 3 times as a spectator. Not sure why that was and why it kept reverting me to the same 5v5 game. Hopefully there were more than 10 people online trying to play.

I know last night we tried to have a private game with only 4v4 and the lag made the game unable to play,
We tried earlier yesterday with me and 2 friends playing and the lag was very little, but as people start joining forget about it, it all turns bad.

So we all just backed out and I just played the Campaign by myself.

Personally, I have heard a lot of negatives about SP and the absent story, but I like the SP game, I just really like this game!
And the MP when it gets fixe will be amazing!

First night, we were a party of 8 and we played an opposing team that was 8 players at least for part of the game. very very little lag. But that was the only time I have been 8v8 humans.

The game has potential, and i agree the story isn't as bad as some have made it out to be.
The problem is that they have said nothing concrete about when this will be fixed, just that they are looking into it.
The longer it takes for them to give progress updates, and actually fix the online and atrocious graphical issues, the online community that would of started out strong may have already moved on.
Plenty of people are already giving up on it. You can only play single player against bots for so long.

Well, kind of wishing I read this forum before buying the game. Wow. Ridiculously bush league. This isn't the PC Bethesda, so hows about you stop releasing half finished games on the console with the "Meh, we'll just patch it later. Wouldn't want to have to push back the launch date!" I've played with one group so far where the game wasn't laggy, and the game played just like I had hoped it would. The other 90% of my games have been absolute garbage. I was stupid enough to think it was me even though I don't get lag in any other game I play other than the odd hiccup.

I don't care if you admit you made a mistake, but come out and tell the customers you're actually working on it, and give a [censored] update to the progress. The whole "We're so pleased at the thousands.......... blah blah blah" thats how you inform us of a patch?

I'm off work in a few days. Pretty sure I'll be trading this game in while the value is high. Seems like one of those games that will be in the bargain bin within a few months for $20. Not because its not a great game, but because its an unfinished game.

Again. Absolute bush league. I'm disgusted with the quality of game you guys rushed out the door.
