"with the 12 year olds on Xbox live". Because 12 year olds don't play on computers, amirite? Do you even read over what you type before you post? Do you simply post nonsensical things to boost your ePeen? I'm not dissing the PC, but your attitude is the type of attitude that pushes me away from being a pure PC gamer.

-->amirite?
-->Do you even read over what you type before you post?
-->Do you simply post nonsensical things to boost your ePeen?

You lost me somewhere in your fail hypocritical logic. You came at me first, clearly you have some insecurities going on you need help dealing with. Let me know if you decide to get it on PC, I'll gladly play against such a superior human being. See ya around.

To be fair there's pretty much 0 competition on consoles, unless you're talking about Super Smash Brothers or something like that.

FPSs have never been competitive on consoles.

I really did not mean to come off rude, or immature, during our conversation...truly. Sometimes though, pure PC gamers just rattle my nerves. As I'm sure pure console gamers rattle yours.

Dunno never played it. I'm just saying that sure you can have competitive console gaming, but due to physical limitations of a controller, the skill cap is lower. Like there's just a point where you can't get any better at aiming and maneuvering. Strategy, yeah.

From: console gamerPC version is infinitely better, trust me I've played several games on both console and PC, and PC is nearly twice as fast in ever single one of them. Not because of movement and spawn times and stuff, but because it's so much more difficult to aim with a controller, period. From an objective standpoint, it's much quicker and more precise to use a mouse. You may be BETTER with a controller, but that doesn't make using a controller better than using a mouse, from an equal skill standpoint. That said, if you are a console gamer and you have friends who are console gamers, then get it for your console.

Wading in ....

I personally hate using the gamepad on consoles except for single player campaign because I generally svck with it. But the advantage of console is leveling the playing field on equipment, all that is different is connection (from a lag perspective). Being an avid PC gamer my biggest beef has always been the upkeep to keep your machine running faster than the other guys' and it simply is not possible. Too many variables and cost and constantly changing tech. My quandry was how to use a console but be able to aim like I knew I could on PC ... for me my solution was the FragFX Shark by Splitfish. It is essentially a mouse and fragchuk combo which I find excellent to give me that PC gaming feel on console and my aim (and thus game enjoyment) has significantly improved. I don't think it matters what platform you are on honestly. I have played a lot on both and prefer the PS3 from a game experience standpoint. Just my personal two cents worth.

Console gamers play like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mDbfaxwiLmo

PC gamers play like this (there is no PC Brink footage so I'm using something else): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R6z5jJd8q0c#t=07m10s

Holy crap good luck playing on a console LOL

If i link someone to CSS footage, i usually do a http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ozE8x3oRT1k&feature=related.

But anyway, i would go with whatever system your friends are on, thats the most important thing for having fun

If you want a fairly unbiased opinion of PC vs Console, with consoles, you tend to get better movement (anolog > WASD) but with PC you tend to get better aim (mouse > anolog)

As far as hardware goes, with a console, you don't have to worry about compatibility, and its a lot cheaper to buy a console than it is to buy a gaming PC. If you do have a gaming PC though, the graphics are going to be much better.

Otherwise, SD has done their best to make the experience about the same no matter what platform you use.

Not elitist? "I take it you're not a fan of competition" that statement seems quite elitist to me. Because consoles do not have any competition, amirite?

Nope, the PC is just a better plataform for competition. Dedicated servers + higher skill ceilling creates an environment that promotes competitiveness, as the combat is faster paced and dedi server makes tournaments/clan matches/leagues much easier to create and maintain.

@OP: Being in the game for fun is good (competing is fun too IMO), in that case I'd say get it for the plataform most of your brink playing friends are getting it too.

The biggest problem with the cross-platform play between PC and 360 on Shadowrun is that the developers nerfed the PC mouse control scheme in an effort to balance the playing field between thumbsticks and mouse users. Even worse, to better even out the playing field, developers went the extra step in giving anolog users aim assist while the PC players get nothing. If that's not enough, FASA also implemented a feature which caused the reticule to expand during quick movements, thus lowering the players accuracy with a mouse, making it impossible to quickly turn and maintain accuracy. So have to handicap PC players to make it close, look at say the skill level of TF2 players on console v PC if you want a more realistic comparison of capabilities.

This may get locked but I want your opinion here.

I was set on getting this game on PS3 but i've seen that everyone (PC users) is saying FPSs are better played on a PC than consoles.

Can someone send me a link of a vid or something showing the comparisons or how it is better?

P.S. I have no background of playing FPSs on the PC so would it ruin my experience of the game?

The absolute main reason for playing FPS games on PC is the extra control you get with a mouse. Here's a http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g5EtYn0jILM demonstrating what I'm talking about.
He uses a controller first, followed by a mouse second, you'll notice the improvement.

surprised nobody has posted http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gdcu4txsjPE, impossible on a console to have that kind of movement and aim simultaneously. Personally I'll always look first to PC when purchasing an FPS, as much as I enjoy some console shooters the control, I feel, lacks in comparison. I always feel like I'm missing out on something better when I get a console FPS.

oh and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RxVmWaprNDY too!

edit: also I've heard SD plans on releasing tools for modders, which for the PC allows ridiculous amounts of customization/tuning to occur. It's why games like quake and cs (which was a mod originally) last so long and become so popular. Just another thought for the PC version.

Can I also say that I just play for fun. No clans, leagues or anything like that.

yes there are quite a bit of casual players on the PC still. And if you are worried, most players don't play as good as the ones on the video :P.

However, if just get what is natural and what your friends have.

Oh and the Split fish thing on the PS3 doesnt work nearly as well as a mouse on the PC, so its not really apples to apples comparisons. I have seen some really good players with the controller, but if you really want to measure e-peens, UT3 for PS3 - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cmjCxwMsE7I

There are competitive players on both camps (Halo is still huge), and fighting over supremacy is stupid because, ultimately its a hobby. Dont quit your day jobs or anything because you think game competitions are that serious

PCs have better controls, higher skill ceiling, and higher level competition so if you want that go with PC.

If you want an example of the superior level of player movement on PC shooters look at
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-T6IAHWMd2I&feature=player_detailpage#t=766s
for aim look at
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7nswPUY6eag

like how you use QL for an example lol thats old school, but deff will show the precision

OT:

I prefer PC over any console for FPS games; why?

- Better control and precision overall
- depending on your rig, PC can blow away any console, graphics & performance wise (no exaggeration, for eg. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=shZzYkpl5Nk or http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BkZp2c_vzNY, make sure to watch in 1080p)
- Competitiveness; PC has a larger competitive scene for the most part because most is done over the internet, LAN's are not needed, though I do prefer them. Very few league sites carry console games, and the games they do carry are very limited.
- skill level peaks in console games to a certain extent, in the PC FPS gaming world, the skill levels are on average higher and therefore more fun and a more challenging (you're not ending up playing against 10-year-olds over and over again; PC has a larger "Mature" crowd)
- Free 2 play games that rival buy 2 play games, surprisingly.

There are cons to PC that may drive players away from PC, for eg.

- PC has A LOT more hackers, depending on what game you play of course. Some games more than others, like F2P (free 2 play) games have significantly more hackers than buy 2 play games. (this is a HUGE problem with PC FPS, the hackers that is)
- PC has, for the most part, more "trolls"

I'm sure there is more, but I'm tired lol

overall, PC > Console, IMO

Why is there no cross platforms for fps pc & xbox? I know the answer so does microsoft. One platform has a big advantage by a far margin over the other when they tried so microsoft scraqed the idea.
