PC Users Only

This may get locked but I want your opinion here.

I was set on getting this game on PS3 but i've seen that everyone (PC users) is saying FPSs are better played on a PC than consoles.

Can someone send me a link of a vid or something showing the comparisons or how it is better?

P.S. I have no background of playing FPSs on the PC so would it ruin my experience of the game?

It's all about preference and what platform you got, If you have played most of your games on PS3, I'd suggest you get it for the PS3.

With the right experience, people can be quite good with the console, but I feel that the PC has more control over your character, and higher sensitivity for gaming, I just prefer it a lot more over the console, this is just my opinion though, if you can't aim worth a crap, I wouldn't suggest using the console, as the PC will be easier to adjust to. As far as experience, I have played multiple shooters, on consoles, and PC's, and I prefer to be a sniper, and from first hand experience, I would say the PC gives you more control, and the console CAN give you that same control, but it has a steep learning curve.

Anyways, /endrant, Just wanted to put my opinion in there, I'm sure others will either agree, or disagree, its all about preference.

PC = Bit better rendering, Higher resolutions, Bit better graphics overall and Dedicated Servers.
PS3 = To be honest, Just don't even bother with the PSN. I had one for 2 years, And on games like Brink that needed communication very few people had Mics. For brink I'd say PS3 is a bad choice.
360 = My personal choice. Most people have the standard stock mic that comes with it so almost everyone talks. Minus a tiny ( Really not that noticable ) lower in detail then the PC version, Nothing really different here.

It's your choice really. If your PC can handle very high settings, Go for it. But i highly recommend avoiding the PS3 version.

PCs have better controls, higher skill ceiling, and higher level competition so if you want that go with PC.

If you want an example of the superior level of player movement on PC shooters look at

For me, I could never move other to PC FPS, I just can't get used to the Mouse and Keyboard for shooters. I always did better using a 360 pad when I was playing PC fps, so I always stick to console shooters now.

I don't own a PS3 but I do have an Xbox. Honestly, I'm preferring PC gaming right now. Everything is easier with windowed mode for certain games and a mouse and keyboard will always beat a controller (and just in case it doesn't, I can still plug mine into the computer and use it).

And really, there's more mic-users on the PC than PS3? When I switched from Xbox to Steam, I thought there was about 10% of the population using mics on the PC compared to the Xbox. Is the PS3 really that low?

I would recomend playing a fps on the pc first since you say you have no experience on pc fps (there are some free ones out there).
It is really a matter of taste, I for one cant aim on a console now, altough I played halo and other console fps earlier in my life and was decent at it. If you can adjust to keyboard+mouse, I'd say go for it. Dedicated servers are a big +, as time goes by there will be servers for all your needs (fun servers, servers with specific defenitions that suit you better). Also the competition and overall skill level are higher on the pc comunity, so you'll have a tougher time. If you like a more chalenging game, Pc is also the way to go IMO.

Console gamers play like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mDbfaxwiLmo

PC gamers play like this (there is no PC Brink footage so I'm using something else): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R6z5jJd8q0c#t=07m10s

Holy crap good luck playing on a console LOL

The Xbox 360/PS3/PC will be equally sluggish. The platform isn't make the game sluggish. It's the seemingly horrible programmed ally and enemy AI in Brink. Once gameplay is released of 8 players versus 8 players (and not 1 player and 15 bots) it will be much more fast paced, and pleasing to look at. In the end the PC version will be a tad more fast paced then both console version, however, it won't be as fast paced as people are making it out to be.

PC version is infinitely better, trust me I've played several games on both console and PC, and PC is nearly twice as fast in ever single one of them. Not because of movement and spawn times and stuff, but because it's so much more difficult to aim with a controller, period. From an objective standpoint, it's much quicker and more precise to use a mouse. You may be BETTER with a controller, but that doesn't make using a controller better than using a mouse, from an equal skill standpoint.

That said, if you are a console gamer and you have friends who are console gamers, then get it for your console.

"PC version is infinitely better" is subjective. It's not fact. Period. So please...don't state it like it is. I'm pretty sure Splash Damage wouldn't have highlighted Brink on only the consoles at conventions, if they were afraid of its sluggish nature.

PC has always been the FPS king in terms of skill/competition. Get it for PC. If you comp can handle it.

The elitist attitude that comes from PC players is a major turn off. Thanks for the offer, but I think I'll pass.

Nothing elitist about what I said, was just stating facts. If his PC can run Brink at 60 fps then he should get it on PC. I take it you're not a fan of competition, go ahead and pass then.

So basically the PC (given that the PC is up to the task) is much faster paced, higher resolution, more competitive/players have higher skill and Dedicated Servers?

Can I also say that I just play for fun. No clans, leagues or anything like that.

Do you prefer to game with a controller/mouse/keyboard. Just base your answer off that. Do you have the set up for PC gaming?? Should be a easy decision.

Not elitist? "I take it you're not a fan of competition" that statement seems quite elitist to me. Because consoles do not have any competition, amirite?

Anyway... To answer the OPs question. If you had to choose between the PC or PS3 version of Brink, I would get it for the PC. You should compare your computers specs to the recommended specs for Brink first, however. To see if your computer can run it relatively smoothly.

Seems like a fair question to me. And are you trying to tell me you'd rather play with the 12 year olds on Xbox live?? I'm not responding to your troll bait good day sir. It doesn't matter to me if you play on PC or not, my statement was directed at OP I don't know why you responded to me in the first place.

I would have thought that all this would depend upon your PC specs
as for aim speed........ that all depends on how good you are...you can adjust sensitivity of controlls to suit yourself...
the responses to a question like this will be mostly subjective and you should maybe think about how you want to play....at a desk or on the couch?

"with the 12 year olds on Xbox live". Because 12 year olds don't play on computers, amirite? Do you even read over what you type before you post? Do you simply post nonsensical things to boost your ePeen? I'm not dissing the PC, but your attitude is the type of attitude that pushes me away from being a pure PC gamer. .

To be fair there's pretty much 0 competition on consoles, unless you're talking about Super Smash Brothers or something like that.

FPSs have never been competitive on consoles.
