Was Brink a disappointment?

Not enough maps. Overall gameplay moves slower than Quake 3.

Only complaints. I'm on the massively loving side of this game.

-Unplayable multiplayer due to networking issues
--No single player component

-Massive imbalances in weapons
--Only a handful are worth using

-Various bugs on maps
--Ability to get below with a soilder and kill anything that moves without rebuttal

-No multiplayer 'needs'
--No party system, no organization, no lobby...

Yea... complete disappointment.

It wasn't a dissappointment but I was dissappointed in certain aspects of the game. The story, the length of the game, the framerate were all dissappointments but all in all the game is good and i look forward to patches to fix the framerate and other issues. Hopefully in the next iteration, they could focus a bit more on fleshing out a stronger story and lengthing the single player campaign. They made it seem like the game had a strong story and narrative, but it was lacking.

Am I disappointed in the game? Not in the slightest. Do I acknowledge that there's a lot in the game that needs fixing before it becomes a "killer ap", definitely. I won't go into the shortcomings of the game, because we all know them by now. Do those shortcomings make the game less fun? No...not for me at least. As a hardcoe MAG player, the elements of team & and objective based play is right up my ally, because that's exactly what MAG is, just on a vastly larger scale. In many ways, Brink has the same issues as MAG still does, aside from the front end stuff like not having a lobby or proper party system. And MAG has endured for almost a year and a half. It's added new content in the vein of modes, maps and guns...some free, some not. Brink will do the same.

The part of the community that appreciates the game for what it is (like myself) will continue to play and support it. The people who don't will either move on to something else, or back to Halo, CoD & BF. But a trend I notice in reading a lot of the negative comments from people...is that the people who are generally "disappointed" with the game, are the ones who expected it to be pure FPS perfection. AKA, the people fooled by the insane media blitz the game had. Educated consumers know to take what's advertised for face value, because if it seems to good to be true, it usually is. The people enjoying this game (again, like myself) are those of us who see it not as "competition" to the high profile FPS games, but an alternative to them.

I'd like the AI to be a little more objective-focused, but overall, not a disappointment.

Not as impressed as I hoped I would be, but I'm about as impressed as I expected.

If I had to review, the game would get a solid 8/10 from me (I was hoping for a 9).

this game has so much potential.SD,please improve the graphics and make the game smooth.I noticed the movement is clunky and not as smooth as expected(or my pc is giving me problems?feels all jittery and hurts my eye)

It definitely feels rushed,no matter what you guys say.I would happily purchase this game at the end of the year if they did a huge beta test and fixed most of these little problems.

Right now it feels like a beta. Annoying? yes, but once they get it all patched up it should be great.

My biggest long term concern is the lack of content.. The game has 8 short maps. If they don't add more maps it will be difficult to keep gamers interested.

I feel a little bit disappointed, but I feel that i should reserve judgement until they finish making the game

Well I didn't play with any friends who could say what my guy looked like for sure, but I saw myself many times in the cut-scenes and everything was accurate on MP Freeplay for XBOX. Maybe it is a little glitch that will be worked out once they become aware of it.

I at first thought this too because I was running around during a mission and i seen myself run past me and I'm like "it must be a glitch" but someone on the other team bot or human while being an opretive can take on your form if they scan your dead body so that is what you saw. An enemy Op. pretending to be you.

i feel the same way, except that when you release a game, you're supposed to release a finished product, so in the sense that it feels like a beta, it kind of pisses me off.

Agreed. I'm unimpressed with the state of the game at the moment, as well as a lot of the distortion-of-the-truth-at-best advertising, but the game still has a lot of potential, especially if they release content every once in a while. The reviews the game is getting due to it's unfinished state may discourage too many people from buying it however, which would likely result in the developer simply giving up on it. Let's hope that doesn't happen.

the only thing that really bothers me in the texture pop ins, but I bet Splash Damage is already trying to fix that, since they released a statement on it for the 360. I'm on the ps3 btw.

Is it worse than Borderlands, SOCOM:C or Oblivion? They had some pretty awful texture pop ins at times, but I honestly never gave a [censored] because I was enjoying the game too much.

Livewire didn't get the codes until today, so they had to post it to arrive Saturday morning... :verymad:

Not that you can use the code before PSN is up anyway...

I managed to get hold of my copy at midnight, because I'm awesome. Sorry you had to wait.

Enjoying it now though, right?

My biggest concern is a lack of content. I bought it this morning and, now, I have already completed the Resistance solo campaign and What If missions plus challenges. Past the Security campaign (which I presume is of a similar length) it's increasingly obvious that I'll be simply playing the same 6/8 bloody levels doing the same bloody things.

honestly, i feel like Splash damage promised me endless gourmet pizza, and then took me to cici's and made me leave after like two slices.

I had already seen the extent of customization before the game even came out.
I can only play the incredibly short campaign because the "freeplay" looks like it was drawn with crayon, and runs slower than an army of slugs.
there are four challenges, FOUR, there are only four challenges forever! NOT OKAY
i spent five grueling hours trying to figure out how to join a game my friends are playing, but it always seems i'm too high a rank, who actually cares about that.
There really is only one game made. there is only 1 style in which to play the game.
AI is pretty much napping while i try to fight an entire enemy squad.

I'm not trying to just get on here and whine about all the things i don't like, i just want SD to add all the things they said were going to be included. Splash damage, make it so that everybody will always want to play this game.

Really? I figured that because we can still connect to the internet to download patches, and that the codes had something to do with the upcoming stats site, that we didn't need to go through PSN. That's a bummer.

And no, I'm not. Because apparently even though Livewire said they paid for Saturday shipping and when we both searched the tracking number that's what it read, both CourierPost customer support reps I talked to on the phone were ADAMANT that it was supposed to be delivered on Monday. Spent the morning checking the mailbox, calling back & forth, and otherwise just getting stressed out.

But Livewire pulled through, they said they managed to "intercept" the delivery and they have a copy waiting for me to pick up. About to do that now, pick up my copy of Brink, a day late. :sadvaultboy:

Uh, that's the point? That's why you have up to 10 characters?

It's pretty much exactly the same as any other multiplayer game; you play the exact same maps with the exact same objective or intention hundreds of times. Heck, I managed to get 900 hours out of MAG. It's the variety provided by weapons, body types and players that keeps it interesting.

Level up to fast. I played from 3-8 and I was 15 on the first day... I play medic btw. I was so hyped for this game but I am really disappointed. I cant help but say it but it is repetitive. I just get bored of playing it.

I hate the 360 version. Sure, once you get into a legitimate match the game can be really cohesive and fun, but the bad texture loading, hit-or-miss matchmaking regarding lag (mostly miss) and bad framerate (Container City is guilty of this), I really feel like I got shafted. The only really big redeeming quality about this game is the S.M.A.R.T system. I'm an aggressive player, and being able to free-run just makes me ecstatic because it advocates my gameplay style, something I haven't really come across in today's gaming.

What's hopefully gonna make me a happy customer is if these above issues get fixed. The free DLC announcement was pretty cool, but a band-aid isn't going to cover up a huge laceration. Gotta make the foundation stable first, then build on top of it. Know what I mean?

Well every issue about Brink has been stated so far. (Kinda got bored of reading all the posts) But i meen apparently whoever just droped th "lag patch" has to notice these things and hopefully they will just read some of these. All we can do is hope for the best. And yea Brink was a bit of a disappontment when you excpet so much from it but to bad, they did there best when i've relized that they stated that they did as much they could as time was up, so lets try to be positive at least.

Well to be frank, I rate brink a 9.3/10 on my scale, my only problems are;

- The AI goes from standing still to being a uncanny aim from time to time, not bad just a little annoyance.
- Tendancy to lag all of a sudden, or a sudden drop in FPS in anything other than solo.
- Sound issues.

And for those who are saying too short, the game is'nt close to being finished. Remember, they never gotten close to the ARK. There will be much more bloodshed, the game isnt exactly "Done" persay. Also they stated on the ARK Map, that many more areas will be released over the months.

Unplayable multiplayer because the lag is worst ive seen.

AI is dreadful, medics can stand near me and they wont throw me a syringe.

Its essentially an inferior COD multiplayer which makes up the entire campaign game of Brink.

The graphics are nowhere near as polished and sleek as those on the promo videos.

The customisation of the characters is nowhere near as "almost limitless" promises.

i just feel lied to and cheated and let down.

A a yet-to-play-online PS3 player, I'll be rating the game 8 or 8.5 - minimum 8 assuming multiplayer is totally unplayable.

I WANT to love it even more than I do, but the friendly AI isn't making that easy.
