Wasteland 2 Kickstarter (Now featuring Chris Avellone)

Post » Wed May 02, 2012 12:16 pm

I mean, MCA is great and everything but to pledge money just because of him? I'd think "turn-based and isometric" would be one's first concern after "Oooh, Wasteland! I loved that game!"

You see... a lot of people developed a crush on him based off of his previous works, me being one. So he could make Hello Kitty Peeing Revolution and I'd buy it.

The only reason I pledged is because I believe this is a positive step in game development. I'll probably play the game for a few hours then lose interest.

I take issue with this sort of fancrush apologist attitude. He has a fantastic track record, yes. But he should be held up to the standards that everybody else is lest we start seeing a decline in his output.

If he messes up people will let him know. But so far I havent been dissapointed.

Besides Obsidian needs some help, beucase of their standards. They make actual rpgs, instead of something shallow that can be sold to the masses.

No console release? What kind of engine will this be using? Will specs be pretty low?

No console release. It's going to be more of a stat-based RPG with tactical combat, so it probably wouldn't very easy to play with a controller...you'll need a mouse. It won't have twitch action combat like FO3/NV or Skyrim.

The engine hasn't been decided yet (not publicly, at least). No word on system requirements yet. Since it's not an "actiony" game I'm guessing that the system requirements won't be very high.

It's 2d turn based, even iPhone could run it.

Brian has already said that Android and iOS will not get there game. At least not initially, if they do it'll be some years down the road. But i hope never.

I don't remember it being confirmed that it will be 2D. Not that I'd mind either way, though.

Has it been decided that the game will be 2-D?

Personall,y I'd like 2-D backgrounds with 3-D character models. But even if they stick with sprites, I'm good.

I'm really excited to see how the game is going to be graphically. Are they going to use a isometric perspective with 2D or 3D characters with modernised graphics etc. I'm looking forward to see how they are going to do it.

2D or 3D perspective is being discussed on the official forums. I voted for 2D, but I'm not that bothered anyway.

I kind of wanted to see 3-d. I voted 3-d because I don't want to see some flat landscape. I originally mentioned something about the AoD engine.

Who're you in the official forums (just so I don't call you an assface or a [censored] in a discussion about something not relevant)?

I just saw the trailer. It was hilarious. Will there be any physical copies of the game or is this purely download?
