I'm sure the devs didn't cripple the experience by doing this.... Like I said, I'm with you that I don't want to have to toggle the random encounters, but I have a little more faith that the game won't be severly lacking wihtout choosing it.
It's probably worth pointing out that traits are supposed to have a negative to go with the positive, and the fact that you need this trait to get ALL the random encouunters could be considered the negative.
It might be a case of unintended consequences. They want to make the fans that don't want the pop-culture happy and the fans that want it to be happy. Seems great but without the pop-culture references it's just not the same for some people. Some people will always pick it because they want the game to be like the originals.
You know funny but in a dark way . This is the first news that's up setting me about New Vegas. It's great that they will have
Marcus,traits and Damage threshold back
but the humor is conditional? that just svcks. Yeah traits are supposed to have positive and negative sides but this one has a big part of the game connected to it.
hardcoe mode can be toggled on or off, so HC-only traits wouldn't make sense. What if a character starts off in hardcoe, chooses a HC trait only, and then switches HC off? I am 99% certain they won't have HC-only traits. Though it does svck that Wild Wasteland will activate the pop culture references.
That is true but there could be traits that would be helpful to hardcoe Mode. Even still limbiting traits is not good, takes away from my fun.
