Considering both the console players and the modders who are trying to improve vanilla werewolves, I think it would definitely be very considerate for Bethesda to go back and add first-person view, sneak animations, new swim animations (need I say how awful the current swim animations for werewolves are?), and wild werewolves (like how they were in Daggerfall).
If they could add in new kill cams in a patch, I see no reason why they can't at least add a first person perspective, sneak animations and swim animations for werewolves in a patch. Wild werewolves with forced lunar transformations wouldn't be too inconceivable either since there is already at least one mod out there that does this, though they would have to at the very least add a new werewolf cure quest for this form of lycanthropy (which they would have to do anyway if they decide to add werebears), but definitely doable.
A lycanthropy perk tree and werebears for those who want them would also be nice, but they should definitely add the stuff too that not even modders can add (which are the first person perspective, the sneak animations and the unique swim animations). Additional howl animations would be nice as well. Also, the greatest thing of all is that if this stuff is added in officially through patches and DLC, the console players will get to have access to the content as well. It would be a win-win situation.
And yes, they definitely need to rectify the issue of beast form not being useful at higher levels (I believe I read somewhere that part of the issue is caused by a bug; beast form is supposed to use one of the armor perk trees for the base health but it doesn't, can be rectified by the establishment of a lycanthropy perk tree).
I must say I compeltely agree with you on that. Being a mainly console player I do feel rather left out when Modding for PC gamers open up a near unlimited world of possibilities to be done and added at their whim. Which with the knowledge of these addons and patches from the game jam video and hopefully the Lycanthropy perk tree, I am MORE than happy with the news which fixes a problem Console player otherwise would have been at the mercy of, as PC gamers have already modded the Werewolf to be stronger.
As for roars, sneaking and other various things that was actually covered alot during previous threads I made regarding the Werewolves the idea of sneaking was very popular. And also Wild Werewolves was also something that came up. But something I had always wanted was a follower of was one of the circle of the Companions, so Vilkas, Farkas and Aela (or just Aela when Vilkas and Farkas are "cured") , if they could transform during battle or just before entering battle then that could open up new possiblities for varied combat situations. or maybe if they transformed when the player transforms. Small things like that would make it so much more interesting I believe.
Werewolves originally benefitted from the Light Armor skill and the Agile Defender perk, as it added to their Armor Rating. However, one of the patches messed this up, and gave them 0 Base Armor, which they became alot more frail because of it. Lycanthropes definately need a perk tree however, since they cannot access any of their normal perks when in Beast Form. Vampires need Combat Feeding, as well as a new strain specifically for the Volkihar, with unique bonuses and penalties, but they're fine without their own perk tree, since a Vampire still has access to 100% of their perks, and even gain a huge bonus from the Necromage perk.
That's true, I found information on that from the UESP or something elder scroll wiki under "skyrim werewolves" it explains what you've just said under "notes" As for everything else. While I haven't played as a Vampire I have heard bad things about them but they always did have the use of swords and spells. But people do have problems with them, maybe if they were tweeked here and there then that would make them more playable.
