What is the Best and Worst game you've ever played?

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 3:47 am

Best ever: Oblivion, I remember when it first launched and I was introduced to Cyrodiil, my favorite time.
Worst: Halo 3, ruined Halo multiplayer for me. I was such a huge fan of Halo 2 back in the day.

Best? Hmm, I'd say probably either Homeworld 2 or Rome: Total War. Two relatively old games that I still play on a regular basis.

Worst? X2: The Threat, easily. It remains the only game I've ever thrown away. Of course, I also got it for free.

Nearly everything. It's not so much a game as it is a "choose your own adventure" book with only one path available. The endless morality lectures that you had to actually push X to get through each line (taking up to 30 minutes just to get past some horrid dialog), the stupid chocobo raising one had to do just to get a certain item, the combat blew, the fact that you couldn't just save anywhere, the random encounters when trying to cross 3" of TV real estate space that ended up taking 5 minutes for what should have been a 2 second walk, the cheesy story, the complete lack of freedom...

It was playing in some guy's anime. I had to finish it because I'm compulsive like that, but it was the most grueling, tedious, boring, frustrating, generally svcky game I've ever had the misfortune to play.
FF-VII was the last JRPG I've ever played. It annoyed me so deeply that I swore off of the entire genre.

Amen, brother.

JRPG's would probably rank among the worst games I have played, including the fabled Dragon Quest 8 and Chrono Cross.
Siren was pretty bad as well. Utterly confusing, though it had a good premise.
Star Wars: Empire at War.

It's really hard to decide on the worst game I've ever played.

Best would have to be Morrowind. Nothing to explain there.

bethca cant explain why kids love the taste of Cinnamon Toast Crunch!!!

i didnt like far cry 2, i wonder how much money was spent so they could get the Jeep symbol on a car..i got frustrated after the first level, i just thought it wasnt worth it. i sure didnt like wolfenstein, the new one.

i loved the N64 Legend of Zelda games, i cant see why people hated Majora's Mask, if they worked around its time system, they'd find it a rather different system from any other game i had played up to that point. I got that game and the expansion pak maybe 2 years ago, i love majora's mask, i got 100% complete on it too. it took me so long though...the art blew me away, i never expectred it to be dark and sinister, but sure enough it was. the quests were interesting, the mask system was pretty cool, i used to wear the Bunny hood into battle because it made me fast...it mustve humiliated King Ikana that a boy in a bunny hood beat him.

the final boss, and the final mask were very cool. using that final mask was great. and when i was able to use it against bosses again, i really only used it against Majora itself and the swamp boss.

All in all, i found that game so interesting, the backstory behind the Ikana canyon is dark, bloody, and crazy. The story is excellent, the music is great, visuals for its time are not bad. The big Kafei chain quest was pretty cool.

i would love if Nintendo remade Majora's Mask and Ocarina of Time as DS games, it would give me reason to buy a DS again, i'm not kidding. if they could get Mario 64, and add more to it, they should remake OOT and MM. on separate cards of course, but sold in the same package.

Ahh, Majora's Mask. I love that game so much. It's my favorite of all the Zelda games i've played. I might just have to hook my N64 back up and play through it again. ^_^

Fair enough, you fought your corner well :)

I'm not a particular fan of it, I've just always been under the impression it's a popular game. I played it, and completed it, and thought it was decent, but I didn't think it was brilliant...now, FF7: Advent Children on the other hand? Excellent movie :)

...That's a first. I'm not even a fan of FF7 and that movie pissed me off. It was bad even by shameless fan service standards.

If I must explain myself: It pretty much insulted everybody who has ever played FF7 by intentionally forgetting everything that happened in the story. The climactic battle with Sephiroth in the game meant nothing, Zack only made a brief cameo, the fighting was ridiculously over-the-top, and Bahamut was sent to attack a city for who the [censored] knows why. And that was only a little fraction of it.

Yeah, it completely ignored FF7 in every way, I'll give you that. But for the casual viewer, who had never played the game before, it was good (my best mate had never played it and really enjoyed it...).

I think that to take away the FF7 bit, and just have it called Advent Children, it's an absolutely amazing film. Some seriously awesome fight scenes, and the CGI is to die for! But knowing it's based on FF7, and completely ignores it's origins, will piss off quite a few fans...

I'm feeling inclined to say Descent to Undermountain, but I willingly went into that one, knowing it was an absolutely horrendously constructed piece of software, so I'm not sure if it counts.
The PC port of GTA IV wasn't exactly good, and in general I didn't like any of the characters. Considering I pre-purchased it on Steam, in ignorant glee, I didn't know what exactly to expect, but after hearing all the praise I thought it was going to be the greatest thing EVARR! But let down I was, and the first ten hours of gameplay time was almost exclusively used to test it, so I could get it running somewhat properly. I only stuck with it because I had wasted 50... something on it (can't remember if this was before or after Steam started the [censored] "?1=$1" crap).

Best: StarCraft.

Worst: I'd probably go with Dungeon Siege, it was pretty awful. Not the worst game of all time, but the worst I've actually sunk any time into.

Theres no way dungeon siege is the worst game. Sure it wasn't great and was incredibly linear but really? compare it to some of the other terrible pieces of junk that exist?

Well, compared to Dungeon Siege II, it does svck quite hard. Far from the worst, though? Agreed. Thing is, these are all people's own personal experiences with games, so their "worst" picks will vary, even to staggering degrees. I'm shocked to see people call Far Cry their worst, but that merely means Far Cry is their least favorite video game.

Worst: What I do not play

For me, it is too long process for make list of good and bad games what I've played, or even try to pick the best and the worst.

Hard to narrow it down to two, but Morrowind is probably the game I've spent the most time with. Had it for a good eight years now and it still interests me. Worst could be any number of samey first person shooters, movie tie-ins, or sports games. Original games might be flawed at times, but at least they don't insult the medium like the above do.

Oh, now that's not fair. There have been FAR worse games than ME.

Worst ever is probably that crappy truck game that wasn't even finished (YOU'RE WINNER!), worst I've played is Driv3r. Although I kinda liked it in a wierd way.

Best ever is GTA IV, if we're allowed to include DLC. Runners up are Batman: Arkham Asylum and Bioshock

Of course there are worse games out there, but that's the worst I can remember playing. When I was really young I hardly played at all, so I wasn't around for all the terrible NES and SNES games out there, or the early PC games. Mirror's Edge is the worst garbage I can remember playing, that doesn't mean it's the worst game of all time, but it's the worst I've played that I can remember.

Seriously though, terrible controls, laughable storyline and presentation, tons of plot holes. The list goes on.

best, i dunno, its too hard to judge. There are many games that were awesome on the dreamcast/ ps1/ps2 but i can't label one as just the best.

Worst:
bomb squad for intellivision. it would work if you could hear what hes saying. it sounds like hes trying to speak while covering his mouth.
