What is the Best and Worst game you've ever played?

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 4:51 am

Wow, that's the second instance of somebody listing the first Far Cry as one of their worst. I'm not going to judge or anything - everyone has their own opinion - but I'm really interested in knowing what about it you hate. Hell, I can name off plenty of flaws, like the mercenaries using rocket launchers as sniper rifles and being accurate with them, or the AI being as dumb as a brick wall and running up to you in single file if you're in dense foliage. They seriously won't shoot, probably because they think the foliage is a wall due to bad AI scripting. Then there's the whole thing with the game turning into Unreal Tournament near the end. Still, I enjoyed it.

I was thinking the same. If Far Cry is the worst game you've ever played you've clearly never played a bad game.

Best game, probably Morrowind, though that has a lot to do with nostalgia.

Worst game I can remember...Mirror's Edge, god that game was terrible.

I thought Mirror's Edge was a pretty awesome game. You gotta give them points for trying something new.
Best has to be either Mass Effect or Assassin's Creed 2.
Worst: Herdy Gerdy. Thats all I had to play for TWO WHOLE MONTHS after I got my PS2 for Christmas

Best game I played was GTA: San Andreas
Reason why: The way the gta series expanded over the years is what moved the gaming industry over the years. GTA San andreas had the best customisation seen in a game as you could basically make CJ however you want with as many hairstyle and clothing options, safehouse styles, vehicle customisation and radio stations to listen to it just blew my mind.

The amount of mini games like the casino games, racing, pool, car collecting, photography, stunts, dancing, lowrider suspension bounc competitions. The only game that came close in my mind to it's level of customisation was saints row 2 but saints row 2 could never beat gta iv for its sheer scale or vehicle handling. GTA IV in my opinion was a step down with most of the customisation scaled down with lots of drab clothing for niko and no car customisation as well as not many melee weapons it just seemed that GTA lost its humour and became too serious.

Worst game I played: Farcry 2
Reason why: It was just a real bland and boring game with miles and miles of identikit jungle and desert land, minimal civilisation and really annoying identikit enemies I just felt like I was going over the same stuff over again and with a boring story that I just didnt feel part of with the added fact that every now and then you would be struck down with maleria symptoms it just lacked any real fun.

It seems to me that developers seem to be making games more serious these days with too much challenge that gets stressful more often than fun, the fun factor seems to be lacking these days in games as what made me fall in love with video games from an early age was there epic feel their bright larger than life worlds in full colour graphics and realism be damned. The music themes always stuck in your head memorable and you missed the games, I want that feeling back.

Mirror's Edge... excellent parkour, but it shot itself in the foot with the indoor levels and gun-combat.

Agree with you about Herdy Gerdy. I rented it, and couldn't stand to play more than a few minutes. I don't remember exactly why I didn't like it... maybe it was the dorky character models, the lack of direction, or the fact that my character dies when it touches water. It must have been horrible if that was the only game you could play for two months. D:

The gun combat wasn't great because it's not a shooter. There is only one place in the entire game that you absolutely must use a gun, and it's only 1 bullet.

The Worst, Superman from N64.

Still, it is hardly a cakewalk when there are dozens of gunmen and snipers trying to kill you all the time. I would have preferred more rooftop running, fewer helicopter gunners, and fewer in-door corridors (which severely hamper mobility). I loved navigating the large areas in first person in a seamless, streaming run of parkour moves. Every time that was interrupted, it just totally broke the flow and the fun factor. Well, for me that is.

Really? I thought it was pretty easy even on hard. I actually got the "complete game on hard" and "test of faith" achievements in the same playthrough.

I thought it was a really good game too. ^_^

As for another horrible game I've played somewhere in the misty past... I bring forth Spiderman: Web of Shadows. Terrible game right there.

Best (in recent years): Mass Effect series (with ME1 being my first choice because of some of the flaws in ME2)

Worst (in recent years): Along in the Dark. A good game story, but horrible game mechanics.

Best (overall): Fallout and Fallout 2....hands down.

That's why my favorite feature of that game was the Time Trial mode (or whatever it was called). There were several dozen courses to play and unlock, as well as the ability to see your own "shadow" of your best runs and actively race against it. I thought that was awesome. And the best part? No combat. If you ask me, the whole game should have been just a massive collection of rooftop race courses.

Edit: Well, not entirely rooftop. The sewer and indoor portions were pretty fun as well.

Best Game: Grim Fandango. The art style rivals just about every game i see nowadays, i like that art style better than borderlands. The story is Excellent. The way the game plays is great, the music is brilliant, absolutely brilliant.

Worst game: well..theres always dead or alive extreme 2..its the only game we had at our recreation center in germany.

Worst Game: Age of Empires III. It was the greatest disappointment of all time. :(

While its not as good as AOE 2 by a long shot, I still think its great fun, far from the worst game ever.

It got boring way to fast. Halo 1 had quite fun and memorable levels whereas Halo 2's levels was the opposite.

Best: Garry's Mod(hardly beating Oblivion and Morrowind)
Worst: Pimp My Ride(XBox 360)

I'm confused with these people putting good games as their worst game(Oblivion(?!), Far Cry, DOOM), or saying they've never played a bad game before. Think harder!

I agree. The multiplayer did make up for it though once I got Xbox Live.

Best: Megaman 3 or Mother 3. There's something about the third game in a series that start with the letter M
Worst: I played Superman 64. I couldn't get past the part after the rings.
