what weapons should be in fallout: new vegas

but not full-blown chainsaw!!

Yes, because an unwieldy tool would be so much better then an overpowered electrical kitchen-knife. :P

"Conventional" Firearms should continue have a WWII/50's feel to it, though I imagine 200+ years in the future should provide some "modern" advancements and modifications.

Energy Type weapons were done well throughout the FO series, though FO3 EW's, especially the plasma weapons looked a bit more "steampunk".

I'd like to see a comeback of specialized ammo, such as Armor Piercing (AP) Ammo vs Armored, Jacketed Hollow Point (JHP) Ammo vs Unarmored and Full Metal Jacket (FMJ) as a "middle ground" ammo type.

Well, FO3 had the deathclaw gauntlet, so how about a Radscorpion tail & Stinger made into a glove/sleeve and used in arena style combat.

All I'm asking for is a wide array of conventional firearms. Specifically, a Pump Shotgun, Colt .45 (or similar powerful automatic), and a revolver that doesn't have a scope and that isn't a peashooter.

A portable tesla coil that when you throw it down, electrocutes all organic and metal objects within a certain radius. Or a lake if there are any and you throw one into it.

Weapons that fit with the lore and timeline.

So, everything from Fallout 1, 2, and 3(with DLC, 'cept for Zeta).

Possible back story on the development of a chip//quarter launcher.

Wandering the streets of New Vegas, the poor, destitute man is unable to feed himself, and unable to pay for armaments to assist him in doing so. And while firearms are becomingly increasingly hard to find in the well scavenged ruins of new Vegas, the discarded, ill-gotten gains of a long extinct, greedy populace lay everywhere and are as significant to the current population as dirt is. Once hearing the small, circular metallic objects referred to as "Warters". The Destitute Man devised a way to accurately propel the "Warters" at high speeds by flushing the tank of a discarded and broken flamethrower, and using it to house pressurized NukaCola. Using the valve to release bursts of the highly pressurized gas created by the tasty beverage. Thus, the "Wart Launcher" was born.

i really...please don't put deagles in NV. please please please don't. i know they're in the first two but seriously the fewer games with deagles the better.

i'd actually like to see more homebrew post-war guns, myself - stuff that looks like it was patched together from scraps of metal or wood or whatever. small guns though, not weird rocket launchers and crossbows.

i disagree completely with the first post, no offence but fallout has its own style, not our worlds.
im thinking the ability to complete a qeust for a techy guy to get a pheromone weapon, where you apply it to yourself to temporarily hide yourself from that faction, also every weapon ( made or not ) from the fallout universe

We had the Deagle in FO1 & 2, the P90 in FO2, the FN FAL in FO2, the M16A1 in FO2 and a gun looking very much like the L-85 in FO2.
Most of those where made after the 50s. So more modern weapons is not out of Fallouts style.

And we did have the Chinese Assault Rifle in FO3, which was practically a AK-47.

Timeline diverged from ours in the 1950's.
So - no modern weapons per our timeline.

Gunchat.

That is true to an extent, but the 10mm pistol is one of the most iconic Fallout weapons. The 10mm Auto caliber was developed in the 80s and Chris Taylor chose it specifically because it was a new/unusual round at the time. Additionally, miniguns are most definitely a post-50s invention. While an M4 carbine certainly has a very contemporary look/materials, it has underpinnings in the AR-15 (M16) and AR-10 families going all the way back to the late 50s. Once the U.S. military finds a good firearm, it tends to keep it around for a long time. It's actually kind of weird to look at the AR-10 and realize that it was developed over 50 years ago. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AR-10

The AK-47 is a pretty old design, going back to the 40s.

Just rip every weapon from Wasteland and re-use them in Fallout: New Vegas. You can't fail that way.

I know, but he who I quoted objected to a post suggesting we have the AK-47 in FO:NV. That's why I added the part about AK-47s. :)

;)

Actuall, now that I think about it, I'd be pleasantly suprised to find something FAMAS-like. I think at least the prototypes for that came out around 1950-60s. Though I don't think it went into service before the 70-80s.
So that's a gun I'd like to see.

Needs fitting past Fallout weapons, new, and as well as old, weapon schematics. Would really enjoy a crossbow/spear gun type of weapon and cryo technology.

A flashbang-type grenade. Like the Pulse Grenade but for people.

Some kind of tazer weapon.

A full sized Chainsaw, not just a mini-one.

Brahmin Horn, it'll be for melee what the Deathclaw Gauntlet was for unarmed.
