what weapons should be in fallout: new vegas

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 6:55 am

Build your own weapons would be nice, ex: play off of the workbench where you can combine stuff you find. sound fun?

Also, I know others have said this but I really want some realistic guns.

What I don't want, laser weapons, and all that plasma stuff. No way in the short time before the bombs drop did people figure out how to make tiny high powerd "ray" guns, its not practical or at all a realistic feature. I know, I know, Fallout isn't a realistic game but common!

A little thing you learn in the military, or just plain old gun training with pistols, is stopping power is not a major factor with a pistol; but placement is. :gun:

Oh I know, but speaking strictly within the terms of Fallout 3, it didn't really matter where you landed your shots; even a head shot almost never meant a kill with any of the pistols (except the Scoped .44, but that was only one, which was hard to come by).

So for the sake of video-game-shooter logic, I'm asking for a wider array of pistols that don't sound and perform as if they were manufactured my Mattel... :nothanks:

The FN FAL is a must, since it was the main battle rifle of the New California Republic.

Well, seeing that Lincoln's Repeater will be out of the question in New Vegas; I do hope they will put in the Lever-Action Rifle. I just love the feel of those guns in Fallout 3 :)

It was a mistake to put such a modern weapon in FO2 in the first place, though.

The FN FAL is a design dating back to the late 40s and early 50s.

A shotgun that isn't a complete joke when it comes to spread and damage. Pump-action.

How can you consider the FN FAL to be a modern weapon, since it was brought into service in 1953? If anything, the FN FAL fits perfectly in Fallout's Universe.

Still rooting for crossbows made of modern materials. For the self-sufficient wasteland wander it should be easier to replace a bolt then a bullet. They're also naturally silent unlike firearms.
And machetes should be common. Not so much as primary weapons but as tool and backup.

Homemade weapon hybrid, e.g. a pump action shotgun with a pistol that's been welded to the pump-part below the barrel. It'd be nice if we could have some guns with attached lights as well.

Yeah Desert Eagles are everywhere in FO2. The Desert Eagle with extended clip was the first gun I bought in that game.

It would be great to see the M14 and the first generation M16 included.

Some easily digestible information on the FN FAL for those who are interested:

Thing is, even if weapons like FN FAL or M14 existed in the Fallout world, wouldn't they be far too old to still be in use after all these years? It's as if we were to revert to using American Civil War-era weapons after the apocalypse.

There is an FN in FO3. It's the Assault Rifle.

It's not called that but something else, though, and is not 100% identical.

Though not so ubiquitous as the Russian-designed AK47 and derivatives, the FAL was an extremely popular fire-arm and saw widespread deployment. The FAL was considered antiquated long before Great War, but the NCR Government ordered the continuation of production for the needs of NCR Army.
