What do you want most in New Vegas?

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 1:17 am

All I want, is some sort of rideable mount. A motorbike would be ideal.
Even a horse, or something. (Yeah, I play too much Oblivion :P )
Hell, Id even be happy riding a Brahmin around! As long as there is
something to ride on..

Agree totally - the car in Fo2 was pimp, and you could even further pimp it out in new reno - hopefully the terrain in general is way flatter in NV so there arent so many rocky obstructions for vehicles/companions tog get stuck on.

The first car you get could be a sweet town car or something with no engine and pulled by brahmin...kind of funny like the car in the beginning of borat. whatever

Also, why not a craftable flying copter thing like in mad max - road warrior? or at least parachuting off the tallest NV building. vertibirds can come later

Vehicles are good, some sort of sailing desert cruiser, wind power rules. Or a gyrocopter.

New Power Armour, New Brotherhood elite forces, would be nice.

Raiders replaced with roaming desert headhunting cannibals

Power Armour workshop would be nice, CUSTOM!

3 metre long deadly Sandworms.

Killer Carrion Flocks of vultures or crows.

Nightvision googles or Thermal goggs (Sight 4 gun even)

A phaser beam sniper rifle, mmmmmmmmmm

Throwing stars

Proper Mirrored sunglasses for your character

Carry your previous character into New Vegas and Back again unlockable only on completion of very hard diff. setting.

A rocket launcher that fires a round over your target but releases multiple mini-warheads carpeting the area. (Not Nukes tho)

Trade with caps continues but Water is also a tradeable commodity highly valueable in HOT dessert

Ideas that I have not yet seen posted:
- Do away with moral absolute of all-knowing NPCs that can instantly tell how good/bad the player is. Allow players to shape their relationship with some NPC groups independently of one another by replacing Karma with something closer to the faction systems you see in some MMO games.
- Wider array of social skills that just "Speech" such as the Persuasion, Seduction and Intimidation skills that were in Vampire The Masquerade: Bloodlines
- Prolonged exposure to radiation should change characters in a variety of different ways...up to and including becoming a ghoul during the game.
- Add one "radio station" that allows players to listen to their own MP3 playlists while still hearing announcements from the in-game DJ between songs.
- More unique dialog options for the seductive perks, Black Widow and Lady Killer. Remember: in-game six usually earns free press from major news outlets!

Great ideas which others have already posted:
- A focus on choices that matter and have positive and negative consequences along with an ending that reflects many of those choices
- Motivations from NPCs that aren't as easy to classify as being good/bad
- Add some repeatable quests that have randomized goals/locations to reduce drudgery
- Option to choose your character's background from a variety of different factions/locations and play through different origins for each one.
- More in-game housing options
- Allow players the option to turn the quest marker on/off
- More options to repair/create weapons along with the new ability to modify weapons
- Wider variety of music along the lines of what we heard in previous fallout games with the addition of atmospheric instrumental music.
- Better QA for the PS3 version than Fallout 3 received. I must've crashed 50+ times playing the GOTY edition

Wow, nice list.

A few things on factions and endings - So many games could have great alternate endings if they allowed more choice as to who is the "villain". NV has a great opportunity to cash in.

Take your factions idea, make 3-4 main factions. During the game your choices get your points with certain factions. If you ahve enough points, you can "betray" a faction at the cost of never getting points for them again, but receive a huge bonus to other faction. The last 25% of the game or so you are totally allied with your highest point faction, and at the end you get a choice to support or betray their goals.

That way the WHOLE GAME you are deciding what ending you will get, out of 6 or 8 possible and totally different endings. That way the ending cinematic isnt based on one choice you make at the very end (like ME 1 which had a great illusion of choice but the end battle is always the same)

***MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS***

Player housing:
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I want it to be possible to have multiple safe houses. Maybe add buildings that you can buy from characters. And I hope they get creative with the safe houses, like in Fallout 3 the washington monument would have been a pretty sweet hideout, or Ravenrock or maybe even one of the homes in minefield. Also I hope they make the houses bigger and add more ways to customize them, more themes, more equipment. Maybe they could add the option to choose things over others like in Fallout 3 you could have everything (Nuka Cola machine, My first infirmary etc.) Maybe if the player was faced with the choice as to what they wanted in their house homes, the game would be more personal.

Clothing and weapons:
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
In Fallout 3 when you got an upgraded version of a weapon it looked exactly the same. I hope they make it so the weapons do not look the same because that was a huge disappointment to see the weapon variant you worked hard to find looks the same as the one you already have. I also hope they add more higher level armor, there was alot in Fallout 3 but there were only 2 or 3 really good armors in the game. i would like to see more.

In game story:
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
In Fallout 3 you had the enclave and the Brotherhood of steel. I would have liked to have seen the option to choose your side. Sure you could have poisoned project purity but thats really all you could do to help the enclave. Adding the option to choose sides with different factions would make the re playability shoot through the roof. Also having more than 2 factions would be pretty cool. Fallout 3 already had alot of re playability but if you could go back and fight along side with the enclave that would just be amazing. I think it would be awesome to see chain reactions, for example doing one quest a certain way affects the outcome of another. That would greatly add to the over all realness of the game. I also hope they add more random encounters. Like maybe quests that you can only get randomly.

I love your proposal for handling factions over the course of the game's main story. I can only hope that something so dynamic will make it's way into NV! Replaying could be a lot more if you could have different enemy/ally combinations each time.

To be honest, the most important game feature for this game, and any other game, is effective mod tools.

I wholeheartedly disagree, as usual. :P

The game must come first before optioning faninterference of its content.

Housing - I have to disagree about multiple houses - in oblivion you could ahve a house in each towna nd then some - the end result was you never spent any significant time in any - they were nothing more than window dressing. I'm hoping you get 1 house but you can pimp it out many different ways and it offers amny unique services.

Clothing, etc - totally agree

Story - As you can see above, I love the pick your faction idea. It takes a little more writing to make plots for 3-4 factions but replayability goes "through the roof" as you said. Totally agree

I want me a Deathclaw as an ally, I didn't get the chance to in FO:3. But in Fallout Tactics: BOS you could have a whole team of them if you wanted.

Hrm Personally I'd like to see the following, some of which have been mentioned.

The ending is affected by what you do during the course of the game much like the first two fallouts, as in if you basically take out the infrastructure of hmm let us say Generic Town. The ending will mention something along the lines of Due to the protagonists actions Generic town dwindled away and became just another empty ghost town which was eventually swallowed by the wasteland.

If they do allow you to join factions, I hope that some if you join them will permanently close entry to others (at least for that character), being able to join every faction out there with the same character to myself doesn't make for believable gameplay. Admitadly there might be some factions that in order to join you have to progress through another one first.

For the combat I hope it's more strategic than just gun and run.

Hopefully the writing for the storylines will be gritty and dark, with at least a few tough choices as to what you do.

Lastly with regards to the previous quest marker comments, to play devils advocate. The more casual gamer tends not to want the 'aggrivation' of having to figure out/remember where to go for quests, so leaving it in for them is unfortionately a probably given. Having said that I seriously hope we get an option to turn it off and then we can run around trying to find where we were actually meant to go like headless chickens so to speak. Personally I prefer there not to be a quest marker as when there is one, a lot of people tend to just make a bee line to the end point and tend to ignore what's in that gulley over on your left or the remains of that farm on the hill to your right unless there's something in them actively attacking you at the time.

hmm vehicles in fallout sounds wierd what i want is a Co-op Feature atleast 4 people, a better sound track, improved combat (fallout was basicly stadning there and shooting) an improvement on voice acting... seriously fallout 3 and oblivion had like 10 voice actors,? a ability to join factions like you can join the regulators and rank up and get acheivments (oblivion) or join a band of mercs or raiders and important factions like the BoS or NCR and Enclave

better sound tracks because fallout only had 2 songs that really fitted the genre and that was

I dont want to set the world on fire - the ink spots (the world was already on fire XD)

Way back home - Bob Crosby (there is no homes XD)

They did have a car in FO2, so there's the possibility of one being in FO:NV, but Co-op isn't probably going to happen.
