Where are all the oldies?

Post » Thu Dec 08, 2011 6:28 pm

Been flicking through the forums quickly and I'm somewhat suprised. Where have all the forum members gone dating back to Oblivion and before. Its great to see the Elder Scrolls is attracting new gamers, or maybe just new members to the forum.
But where are all the '06, '05 and '04 members hiding out. You still here guys or are you biding your time till the serious talk starts upon release?

We're watching, always watching...we listen more than we speak. We read more than we type. We still don't really understand why everyone uses the words "epic", "win" and "this" as one word responses for every other post. So we are confused. But still we watch...always watching...

I was just talking about how TES is a community that has evolved together, with many of the same people active and involved now for going on a decade!

I am still around...

Playing morrowind for the 200th time and cursing Oblivion's name.

I'm watching you scum...
Do I detect a little bit of Oblivion elitism?

My guess is that they are in other sections of the forum, CD, ES general etc.

For being on the forums so long, It's surprising you don't know the rules. This belongs in the Skyrim discussion, why?

I was really active in the forums Pre-Morrowind. SKipped the forums for Oblivion. had to create a new account for Skyrim. I was Batty5 before, too, though.

I've been around since Morrowind, but I must admit, I spent most of my time on the Planet Elder Scrolls forums.

Didn't really join up on the forums (though was a long time lurker) until Oblivion was on its way. Started with TES back in 96 with good ol' Daggerfall though, so reporting in for duty!

An "02" right here. Loving Oblivion and Morrowind still and looking forward to Skyrim like a giddy teen.

I'm NOT new to TES but i'm pretty new to the forums here, I guess.

And I have also wondered where the long time members are, they make the most sense.

Most of us have been staying away because the new "fans" are rabid. If you say anything at all negative about the game they go berzerk and try to chase you out of the thread. Many of us have been around since Morrowind and occasionally we see something we don't like, features that are returning that we hated in Oblivion (compass) or certain things getting axed, or the changes (or lack of big changes) between Oblivion and Skyrim (that we can see so far). If we mention any of these things, its nothing but flames. The new players, who are fans of the more casual direction the game has taken since it started to be built primarily on the console, do NOT accept different opinions, by and large.

They want to run you off? Just bite back, I do.

Played MW sometime in 04 I think. Found the site around the time the obliv hype was going on. Never joined the forums. A couple months after obliv's release I joined to ask a mod creator about a certain mod. Can't remember what it was though. Some sort of companion one though I think.

I'm not here much anymore. Almost at all actually, unless it's to try to zing a familiar friend. Once I became part of a smaller community site it became much more difficult to come back here as frequently. Community Discussion used to be a lot different, and much more open, even with politics and religion disallowed. There were much less people back then as well, and I don't hold it against the moderators or whatever for keeping this place the way it is, just saying, it's mostly because I seem to see endless variations of the same threads that I don't spend much time here.

I've been wainting for this moment so long!

Do any others of you "oldies" remember this pearl Richie Truxillo posted on the forums prior to Oblivion's release? :D

Oh yeah I remember that. What a cruel joke Oblivion turned out to be.

 You might not know me though, I browsed around the Morrowind forums a while after I joined when they weren't so active, dabbled a bit in modding but not too much. Didn't bother with Oblivion forums though I played the game. Think I was always more of a CD poster :P
