But where are all the '06, '05 and '04 members hiding out. You still here guys or are you biding your time till the serious talk starts upon release?

Most of us are gone, sadly. A few are still around on other unofficial forums (I won't mention any names as I'm not sure who has been banned and who left of their own accord).

Beware the bubbles Andy.

When I was young we were too poor to afford a jacuzzi, if we wanted bubbles in the bath..., let's just say it was manually done.

For being on the forums so long, It's surprising you don't know the rules. This belongs in the Skyrim discussion, why?

Because I was interested to know why there wasn't much activity from some of the older (not age, but time since becoming a member of the forum) members on the Skyrim general discussion.
Seen as though 90% of activity is from people that have joined this year.
Was interested to know where the contributors that I may remember from the Morrowind and the pre-Oblivion days were.

I've been here since '05. I only ever really post when my opinion hasn't been stated before or I have something that is important enough to warrant posting. (Highest post count is ~1,700 in almost 8 years.)

I am the master lurker.

Been flicking through the forums quickly and I'm somewhat suprised. Where have all the forum members gone dating back to Oblivion and before. Its great to see the Elder Scrolls is attracting new gamers, or maybe just new members to the forum.
But where are all the '06, '05 and '04 members hiding out. You still here guys or are you biding your time till the serious talk starts upon release?

Here multiple times a day.

Part of the reason there are a lot of new members is the mandated password change - a lot of people forgot their emails and had to make new accounts. The system also purges accounts automatically, so some old timers coming back to talk about Skyrim have to make new ones. Most of all, SK general is just a hellhole where its hard to get a word in edgewise :P

This is actually my 2nd account - had to switch a looong time ago when we moved to a different software. Original dates back to sometime in '03, though it's been purged.

Query understood and understandable. Perhaps my answer will likewise be understood:
We who have seen TES games announced, developed, released, patched, expanded, and again patched know better than to dip our toes in the speculation pool.
We calmly go about our days until release. Then we'll play and see what's there. Then we'll download the patch. And then we'll begin modding.
Rinse and repeat.

and I chalk up your post to total opinion since not only are you not the first person to think that way, but you like the others never produce examples or post detailing this. almost 100 percent of the time peeps like you think that if someone does not like Oblivion They are INSTANTLY Morrowind fans, and to be quite honest there really aren't that many. Nor do I think you have an inkling of why people like Morrowind to this day when shored up to Superior Graphics and Game mechanics.

I'm the first person to think that way? I take it you don't read many posts then. I've also had plenty of posts, not to mention threads even (for Skyrim even) detailing these concepts.

As for the generalization, Morrowind fans are 1.) More abundant by a longshot than people who enjoy let alone even played Daggerfall 2.) VERY vocal even as a minority. It's not an assumption, it's simply playing the odds.

As for reasons why people enjoy Morrowind over Oblivion I certainly understand, as a lot of the reasons aren't exactly subjective (EG procedural generated landscapes of Oblivion versus hand made landscapes of Morrowind). However, it isn't to say that they don't share a LOT of mechanics. Morrowind and Oblivion share far more similarities than say Daggerfall and Morrowind, or Daggerfall and Oblivion. Hence why they're the "odd ones out" in terms of mechanics. I also personally thought the concept of forced gameplay/min maxing was atrocious for a system in Morrowind/Oblivion, hence my feelings towards Skyrim returning to a much more "streamlined" but functional and logical system ala Daggerfall.

Pretty cheesed off this got moved.
Seen as though it applied to the members who posted on and about the Elder scrolls games. And how there didn't seem to be much contribution on the Skyrim (many pointless) threads.
I guess because this thread didn't cater to the masses it was just a matter of time before a Mod moved us on...

Yeah man, your just totally being oppressed by these fascist forum moderators, all these new cats don't know what its like, keep on rebellin' brother!

This fits much better in community discussion, it has no relevance to TES or any game in particular, you asked where the oldies were, that has nothing to do with discussing the series despite how many of the 'oldies' may play it.
