Neither, it's just a fancy circlet.

I chose the crown.

Off-topic: I was thinking about this quest and then it hit me. They should add more of that fancy metal in Future DLC's and patches and allow us to eventually get enough to craft something truly epic, like Chrysamere epic!
The choices we got were disappointing.

Would have gotten the shield just to toss on a shield rack for looks..

But I had to get the crown. Only way I'm ever hitting 70+ for that damned Legendary Dragon achievement, unless I start a new character and rush to 15 so I can do the Oghma Infinium glitch. And I honestly have no desire to deal with random vampire death-squads again. Ever.

So no to that.

Plus it looks good when I wear Noble clothes and troll Balgruuf by sitting on his throne in front of him.

Crown. Do you guys have any idea how balling it is to have infinite ritual stone uses? Undead army FTW! :P

Agreed, though the staff was the least disappointing for me. Even though I'll collect dust on a weapon plaque.

I chose the crown on my first play through. My other character collects staffs so Ill choose the staff next time. I kind of wish it was another mask of sorts because everyone loves masks.

The Crown because it seemed the most useful and unique, the Staff didn't seem to be worth it and while the shields effect is unique, the look of it isn't and to be honest, we've gotten like 3 unique shields in DG so I didn't think it was essential for another.

I chose the shield because I already have full daedric armour so I didn't want the crown also I already have too many conjuration spells so I don't need the staff

For my two handed heavy armor berserker i could have cared less for any of them as they were all totally useless for me.
Honestly, after going around forever I get to look at some neat gear that this char will NEVER use....

The Crown. Lord Stone+Atronach Stone makes for some pretty ridiculous magic defense.

I chose the shield just because of the vampire attacks in town
I have not had a chance to test my theory currently because I am relatively low level and the vampire attacks have been easy to deal with without any casualties to npc's
But at higher levels I have read the vampires can reek havoc in towns; so I assume that at that point I can bash 1 or 2 vampires or death hounds and those bashed become ethereal and can't take damage or attack and do damage - and by only bashing 1 or 2 of the attackers - I can then deal with the remaining unabashed vampire 1 on 1 and not have to worry about the other attackers for 15 seconds or so - basically repeat process with remaining attackers
This is just a theory and I have not tested it so I dont know if it works but it is my hope that it will so I won't have to worry about getting ghost towns

Crown so it would go along with my diamond rings, and necklaces, fine boots, and emperor robes.

Do you enter dungeons in that gear or just use it for rping?

merely curious what did the staff do?
It "sometimes" summons "either" a Dwemer Spider or Sphere. It's just plain awful and sometimes it doesn't even work.
