Which Aetherium Piece did you choose?

I agree. It's just a case of picking one of three novelty items.

They are not novelty. Only the shield is. The staff gives you a unique summoning and useful effect for both conjurers and blacksmiths, and the crown is amazing for lower leveled players trying to gave the warrior stone and the Mage stone.

All three svck.

The crown takes away a head slot, meaning the "4 piece" and "matching set" perks.

I'm glad I got to 81 just before dawnguard, so even the crown was rendered moot. I stuck it in my house,
sticking with just the steed stone stone (the only one of use now, more carrying capacity.)

Lord's Stone and Steed Stone are the only useful ones unless you are a 'glitcher' and used glitches to up your defs.

Atronach, Lady, Serpent, and shadow are all massively useful for almost any character. Absorbing almost all magic, having quicker regen for magic and health, paralyzing someone, and turning invisible are awesome abilities

Agreed. Although the Atronach stone will require some extra magicka regen enchantments if you really plan on using it.

By the time you are level 81, these stones aren't truly useful. I was talking about being a level 81 char, since I was talking to someone with a level 81 char.

As a level 81 character, I find the Crown to be very useful. I don't use it for combat, but rather resurrecting masses of dead bodies, or using it to open as many expert locks as I want. It really shines with once per day powers, rather than actives.

Ik the Crown is useful. I was talking about the Stone's effects themselves.

Oh, then yes, I agree with that. When there a bunch of other powers, those specific ones aren't that great. :\

And don't forget with the right perks and enchantments, the spell-versions can easily be stronger.

Are you kidding? It can resurrect as many dead bodies as you need, and you can do it as many times as you want. By the time you reach the end of a dungeon, you have a mob working for you. It's REALLY powerful.

Dremora Lords and Dragon Priests > Zombies.

But that doesn't matter when you can have ten of them in your service. And depending on their level, they can be VERY powerful. Supplement that with a couple of Dremora or Atronachs, and you have an unstoppable army. On top of that, it doesn't take up any summon slots.

Edit: When I said ten, I meant as many as you want. It essentially outperforms every necromancy spell in the game, doesn't cost magicka,

And the fact that I'm against Necromancer. So.. Yeh.

In terms of gameplay mechanics, or role playing? Because in terms of gameplay, it works much better than even regular summoning spells because it can't be disrupted via spell absorption. For roleplaying...well, I can't help ya. My personal opinion is that the crown can be turned into the single most powerful artifact in the game.

At 81 Mages and Dragons will rip you up UNLESS you have the Atronach stone. Plus maybe you are a warrior...paralyzing someone can save you

Even if you use the Stone purely for its 50% spell dodge it's still one of the best stones on the game if not THE best.

By the time I got there my dual handed light armor character was already using headgear. After that long quest for nothing I jumped into the lava to commit suicide. How's that for role playing.
Yeah my mage died about 10 times on that room, ducking and dodging trying to summon something to help me because the ghost is plain useless and then when I finally get to use the forge....items are crap.

25% Resist Magicka from being a Breton. Lord's Stone's 25% Resist Magicka. + 30% Resist Magicka from Alteration Perks. 80% Resist Magic pretty much makes most spells pathetic... Actually, Legendary Dragon's attacks will only do 100-150 damage. Not much since I can heal like 83, I think, points at a time. Double that when duel-wielding

Yup.

Wear the crown and then go choose a new Stone. You get the effect of your new stone, then the Crown mimics/keeps the ability of the old stone. Thus you get two stone effects. ;)

Belief. I cannot stand the thought of resurrecting the dead to do your bidding... Just a terrible thought to think about..
