Which Aetherium Piece did you choose?

Post » Tue Nov 20, 2012 9:13 am

The crown is the only decent one in my opinion.

The shield seems okay if you are a sword and shield warrior, but every single other type it's worthless.

The staff is a complete and utter waste, I mean seriously, is anybody insane enough to want it?

That answered my question. Retracted. That's lame. Does anyone know what type the shield is, heavy or light? I assume it's heavy, but because of my light armor perks that lower's my defense considerably. :/

By the time I got there my dual handed light armor character was already using headgear. After that long quest for nothing I jumped into the lava to commit suicide. How's that for role playing.

Staff...for nostalgia purposes. The crown is just a circlet which is already pathetic looking and the shield is useless (especially if you have Spellbreaker)

I chose the staff. As a warrior who makes use of the matching armour bonus, the crown would have upset that.
I'm a spellsword so the shield would have been of limited use.
By default the staff was the only real option.

Auriel's Shield sounds like a better shield to me, and none of my characters use shields anyway, so that was out.

My character who's completed the expansion is a summoner, but carrying around a log so that you can summon something inferior seems like a waste of bag space. My second character, who has completed the Dawnguard MQ, could use a summon every now and again because he doesn't cast at all.

Still, the crown is just a superb unique item. My first character took it because being able to have The Lord on all the time and then just add The Steed for the extra carrying capacity is great. That idea about The Ritual stone sounds good as well ...

People seem to be really interested in the infinite standing stone power uses via the crown. By unequipping and re-equipping the crown, it resets the power. That means you can use the serpent, tower, ritual and any other standing stone powers as much as you want.

The Shield power seems a little pointless, making an enemy disabled but invulnerable at the same time seems like a gimmick tacked on. What real practical use could this have?

The Staff is unique and at least has a practical use of summoning a meat shield minion.

The Crowns only real use is to allow for unlimited Standing Stone actives. No point in using it to get two passive stones bonuses considering that the vast majority of them are just terrible compared to Enchantments.

I'll probably go for the Crown and use it to bypass all Expect or lower locks.

Tried the staff cause I miss Morrowind's Dwarven Sphere summon then figured out tis a rare summon to get from the staff so reloaded and got the shield.

I have no use for de' crown for I have no use for an extra birth stone...

So... Ended up getting the Shield cause it is one of those artifacts that may not be extremely useful BUT extremely fun to use and mess around with.

Crown because it looks kick ass with the Ancient Falmer Armor and makes me feel like Elrond.
I was tempted with the sheild, as I adore sheilds (but never ever use them) but i thought the crown was a better decision.

All three svck.

The crown takes away a head slot, meaning the "4 piece" and "matching set" perks.

I'm glad I got to 81 just before dawnguard, so even the crown was rendered moot. I stuck it in my house,
sticking with just the steed stone stone (the only one of use now, more carrying capacity.)

I chose the staff. While the crown is cool, it really doesn't fit with my terrible hairstyle which I can't fix as a vampire. The staff on the other hand has a unique summoning effect, which is great for a conjurer and necromancer like me, that is to summon animunculi! And it is also very good for blacksmiths (also like me) as it can sometimes fail completely and give me scrap metal, which I can just melt into ingots...

Hey, with my earlier comment, it is possible to cure Vampire Lord, change your face, then have Serana bite you to become one again? Just asking.

Yes, you can cure yourself, change your face, and then have Serana change you back into a VL.
