I want something I know won't [censored] up. Automatic Kalashnikov.

And besides its sixy as hell. Who doesn't love a wood finish on their gun or a banana clip? Also its better at cracking heads with its butt.

Actually, I'd rather have the full metal black tactical Kalashnikov versus the traditional wood finish. Tell me http://www.spareammo.com/posters/ak47-saiga-assault-pictures-rifle-black-762x39.jpg isn't sixy.

True, I don't want to be holding moldy, splintered wood.

You shut your mouth when you're talkin to me! :P lol jk

Idk if you read the specs but both of those guns dominate the AK47&M16 in all aspects and those are just the civilian issue.
The PSD is the more reliable out of the two and makes the AK look like a fragile choir boy lol the only problem is that they aren't well known.

http://img140.imageshack.us/img140/9128/ak103k1aq8.jpg its got a Polymer frame instead of a Wooden one, Its about time the Russians started moving out of using Wood in their weapon reproduction. (Its just to much extra weight for a modern battlefield) :tops:

Also I really like the http://www.gunslot.com/files/gunslot/images/63457.jpg it shoots in two round bursts. :)

AK-47 just because I think it is better, and I don't want to have 10 people reply to me giving a million reasons why it isn't. I really don't care either way, but I would go for the AK just because it is cheap, and looks d*mn good in black tactical colors.

The times when I have fired em.. I loved the M-16 and AK-47. Of all weapons in the world though, I love the M4 (or any of it's variants) and the MP5. They handle beautifully, and if I had a choice, I would love to be using either of those.

I can't see the poll, so I'm guessing, by the way.

I'd have to say a Lee Enfield II, or a Grease Gun.

But seems as though they wern't an option I would have to say AK, more durable. Hell in Vietnam the US were discarding their weapons in favor of the least complicated gun in the world. I know alot of people are going to mention the inaccurate fully auto mode but honestly, if this gun is fired correctly (eg. the SAS two squeeze method) then it can be very handy. or even on semi-auto this gun is extremely accurate.

Assuming it would be used in a Fall-out'y type circumstance, Pesonally my choice would be the AK.

Reliabilty in extreme conditions, plentiful ammo, plentiful replacement parts. The M-16 has so many good points and would be my choice in a modern civilized battlefield but hey...its the wasteland. :gun:

I'd take the AK-47. Only thing M-16 has going for it is accuracy. FO Tactics I always pick the AK over M-16.

What more do you need going for a weapon?! If you can shoot from farther away and more accurately than the next guy, you can kill him before he even has a chance to hit you with his more "powerful" weapon.

AK, probably. The reliability, stopping power, and low mantinence make it ideal for wasteland conditions. Sure, the M16 is accurate, but it has more jams than the Smuckers company.

More jams than the Smuckers Company? How dare you, sir. My M16 only jammed 4, or 5, or maybe a dozen times . . . a week . . . I . . . :sadvaultboy: Stupid student training rifles. Seriously though, if you keep the weapon serviced and maintained jams are very rare.

While the M16 is actually not extremely unreliable(an M60 on the other hand...)the AK is even more reliable but the M16 has greater range, accuracy, muzzle velocity, and the AK is damn near impossible to control full auto while the M16 is pretty easy to control but M16s don't do so well in the desert with all that dust or so I hear never shot an M16 in a desert but I have personally shot both the guns and found the AK to feel cool but the m16 is more practical and is just, for lack of a better word, better for killing.

Well, I have shot the M16 in a desert, and the jams are rare. You practically have to bath the thing in dirt and sand to cause a jam. Sure, if you go more than a couple of days without cleaning it in such conditions jams will become frequent, but the solution is simple - use a cleaning kit! Don't trade away greater range, accuracy, and muzzle velocity for reliability! Just keep the weapon clean!

AK-47 due to its reliability and high resistance to the elements (in this case, desert and wasteland). I don't know how accurate it is but as long as it's carefully maintained and used right it'll be a fine weapon.

Why is everyone so willing to give up accuracy? Think about this - big, open, flat desert. I'm thinking the guy with the rifle that can accurately drop you from 600 meters away is going to come out ahead compared to the guy who's weapon is only effective to 400 meters. That means that if a two people were facing each other from 600 meters apart, one with an AK, the other with an M16, the guy with the AK would have to run nearly the distance of two American football fields in order to even hope to hit the guy with the M16, who all that time, can put accurate rounds into his attacker.

As a former US Army soldier i like the M-16 for what it is, it is a very accurate weapon but in a FO3 world you will need something more forgivable than an M-16. I own 2 Ak-47 right now and while they lack a certain refinement that the M-16 has, when it comes to the "hit the dirt and then get up firing" i know the Ak-47 will, just about everytime. Now if you want to debate the issue that at ranges out to 300 meters (every US soldier is taught to shoot the M-16 to 300 meters as a matter of basic training) the M-16 is more likely to put the round sucessfully on target every time. In the end i think the choice will be dictated by ammo after all a brand new M-16 is nothing but a club if you have no ammo, and the same can be said for the AK as well.

Interesting. I'd heard the 300 meter thing for Army basic training before. In the Marine Corps, we have to shoot accurately out to 500 meters with the M16 to pass basic training. I wonder why the difference?

Anyway, in case anyone was still in doubt, I picked the M16. I have the most experience with it in real life, and I like to snipe targets from a distance, so less range and accuracy kills the AK for me. I guess if I were doing nothing but point blank shooting and was going to have no opportunity to perform weapon maintance, I might go with the Ak-47, but probably not. Keep in mind that though the 7.62 rounds hit harder, 5.56 rounds can be more lethal, as they tend to hit bones and ricochet around the body while fragmenting, while 7.62 rounds are more apt to punch straight through.

You can't realistically keep a gun serviced in a wasteland. People aren't exactly tripping over WD-40 and toothbrushes, much less cleaning kits. Choose the one that won't jam when you need it. That would be the AK.

Do you know what a cleaning kit consists of? Just some metal rods that can fit down the barrel, a scrub brush you never have to replace, and a piece of cloth. http://www.specopstactical.com/shop/catalog/images/store/Rothco/4819.jpg Sure the rifle needs oil every now and then, but not out in the field, otherwise more dust and sand will stick to it. You could come up with all those parts in the wasteland quite easily. And its not like you use it up. As long as you can find an old piece of clothing every few weeks, you're golden.

Gunnery Sergeant Hartman says:

"Give me a gas-operated, air-cooled, magazine-fed, selective fire, shoulder-fired weapon that can shoot the fleas off a tick's ass at 500 meters over open sights with a proper marksman's sling. Give me my M-16."

Those AK's are VERY inaccurate, and those M16s are fragile with their little gas tubes.

However, I'd pick the one for which I have, or will be able to get, the most ammo.

With my ak I can hit targets the size of a nickel at about 100 yards. I find an am to be as accurate as an m16 to about 400 yards. After the m16 takes over. That being said the weapon used in game was the ak112, not ak47. And with the ak74 on they switched ammunition to a 5.45mm round that is very comparable to the 5.56.

Well, there are a few things to note: M16 can fire only single + burst and it ain't the best weapon when it comes to cleaning and maintenance, especially in a desert, while the Avtomat Kalashnikova has single, burst and auto, it's resistable to dirt, sand and all and maintenance is easy.
So I pick...both. Ha! OWNED
