who doesn't like having lydia as your follower?

Post » Thu Jun 14, 2012 3:41 am

Like followers generally she's more hindrance than help and I prefer travelling solo anyway. Otherwise she sits arounds stuffing her face in your bedroom and - as someone else said - asks you if you're lost when you walk through your own front door. Cheeky cow.
I find it's for the best to take her on a little adventure where she has an unfortunate accident.

Lydia was in final stand (?) and I was a few arrow shots away from killing a hard enemy.
After a few deaths, this was great for me, the enemy is almost dead, one arrow to kill AND [censored] Lydia stands up and gets shot and [censored] dies

Snip

To be fair, all followers do that.

Lydia is just the one most players have used and abused.

Personally I don't like her much. I don't like using followers much in the first place though, so this is not specific to her.

Followers just block my path most of the time, and I don't like being followed by them.

I do love the Dremora summon though :)
Mostly because he never gets in the way. And when he does, I can just kill him to move him. And he's powerful!

I like Lydia. She has the most personality out of all of the housecarls. At least her tone and demeanor varies from time to time and she isn't nonstop babbling machine. Also, she isn't inherently weak, she's just the first HC most people get and she's locked into the level you are when you first meet her. If you learn the Wabbajack trick she'll be as strong as any other follower in the game.

As for followers in general I like to have one along mostly to carry loot. They're also good meat shields for Master difficulty. Taking on 4 Falmer at once on Adept might work without a follower but on Master you have to be level 40+ in order to stand a chance. A follower helps you with that and then helps you carry stuff.

I like having the mod where Camilla Valerius is a sixy Elemental fire mage, who kicks royal butt at level 100. That said, I also like Lydia as well.

I use lydia as a pack mule no more no less,She can barely defend herself against a mud crab and gets instanly killed or in my case getting launched in the air like a rocket when a giant smashes her......has this ever happened to you guys it kept happening to me when the game first came out

skooma_fiend i like both (although i don't have any pets).

This comment right here:
"...I feel uncomfortable about having someone who swears they will die for you..."
reminded me of a line from a movie.
"I don't like dogs. I could never trust something that loves me unconditionally". Sorry but I chuckled.

Lydia seems a little depressed ever since I dismissed her to guard Breezeholm. So, I wrote her a little poem:

Your smile blooms like a bright summer flower
your hair flows down like a soft rain shower
Your eyes are like open seas... blue from coast to coast
So, how come your ass looks like a truck?
Enough with the bread already!

I honestly like Vorstag better-
Vorstag vs Lydia
Vorstag: has better things to say, is not whiny at all when told to carry things, is clearly interested in Dwemer tech, and has humorously high enthusiasm when hoping for money in a ruin.

Lydia: no enthusiasm at all, has a strong drone feeling going on, almost always a sarcastic tone in her voice, makes you want to punch her in the face when responding to being told to carry things.

used to stick with Lydia till I ran into the tech loving merc.

Poor Lydia, so unloved.I've had her following me full time for over 50 levels on master without any hassles.Just arm her to the teeth with full Daedric equipment and be patient with her in dungeons.

Unloved? I understand there are plenty of people around here who like her so much they even marry her. Totally beyond me, if I'll ever marry a character to a female npc it won't be Lydia, for sure.

I like her more than the other followers, she has style and I like the voice. And she is equipped with a strong Ebony Shield and she does use it blocking enemy attacks. She even kills elder dragons for me!

And love it when we need to go down from a high cliff. I freeze shout her and then she falls down the cliff, at the bottom I hit her to "wake up" again. That way I don't lose her or make her walk around the whole mountain to catch up with me again.

Are you sure you don't want to re-phrase that?

I prefer stealth so followers are not really helpful for me.

I've got nothing against Lydia - I just haven't made a character yet that would be interested in her. If I make a teenage Imperial boy with mommy issues, I'd maybe take her on.
