who doesn't like having lydia as your follower?

Hey I got her in the beginning back when I was like level 9, does that mean she does not level up with me but is stuck at that level? She has trouble with opponents that I can down in 2 swings of my 1 handed weap nowadays (Yes I gave her a good weapon and AR).

Next time you're in Whiterun, tell her it's time to part ways - do your shopping or whatever, and when you pick her up again she will have levelled.

I am afraid that is not the case. She will remain at the level you first seen her.

I despise her sarcasm somehow I think she became a housecarl as punishment for some transgression.

Lydias started getting a touch fragile for me now. It's fun running to the rescue though, I'm keeping her alive as long as possible. If she lasts through my current questline, I may retire her so she can finally realise her dream of being tamriels bread eating champion.

If she dies, it's her fault for not protecting her knees...

Lydia was a great companion and follower for my character. Always got stuck in to fights. Do followers become useless after you reach a certain level ? Ah, I just noticed Lydia stays at her original level.

i dont like any followers, they are a pain in the butt.
they get in the way when im busy killing things or they hang round my houses like armoured squatters eating my grub, drinking my ale
and making sarky comments about how devoted they are to me.

ive even tried parking them in the local alehouse and telling 'em to stay put and get drunk but no,they end up cluttering my fine houses up.
freeloading gits! cheers

As a Ps3 user, I like my followers to stick close to me, so I use the followers from the Dark Brotherhood :P

She's Ok. I prefer followers with personality like Jenassa or Mjoll. They're no Vilja but are pretty entertaining for a Vanilla game. I only use Lydia for stuff that affects Whiterun I think she ought to included in like the Gildergreen quest.

Cosnach is the way to go. Lydia can go relax since I wouldn't use her for anything
but storage until I got my own house.

You can level her up, you know. Enable/disable on PC or use the Wabbajack trick...

I've actually never used Lydia.

My characters typically use a Dark Brotherhood Initiate, or Kharjo from the Khajiit caravan. I like Kharjo, the guy's a stud when given good quality sword and shield. He and my Khajiit warrior cleared out Fort Sungard of Forsworn in about ten minutes with both of them working side by side...

I don't really mind who I have as a follower, (and I do often have one), but I've grown "attached" to Lydia, so I generally travel with her these days. Seems only right.

EDIT: Damnit, I've changed my profile picture, and it shows the new one in the top-left of my screen and when I post a message, but reverts to the previous one when I actually post a message.

I would use her if she had the abilities of a Human. The game AI is just too overwhelmed and ends up being silly to the point of unreason.

Lydia is uncomfortably quiet.

I recruited her into the Blades the moment I met her.

The best follower is Faendal. Period.

i always use lydia, i mean all followers are for me are glorified pack mules. Lydia is usually the first one i find so i keep her as she usually doesn't die. Plus she isn't that annoying, and i give her whatever weapon types i don't use

Lydia is...okay. She's a REALLY good melee fighter in terms of statistics. You can get her really early in the game and in late game, she's alright considering she levels up right along with you to 81. Personally, being a Conjuration heavy Battle Mage, I don't need Lydia for strong melee class. I have two Frost Atronachs for that.

I use J'zargo and Brelyna mostly.

Lydia is my Backpack until I buy Honeyside. She's also my Troll-tank early in game. Frost trolls are unbelievably hard at level 10 on Master, damn near impossible if you forget to restock on paralysis poisons.

I liked Faendal, too. I let him go around lvl 20. I used Lydia next, and my feelings towards her are 'meh'. Around lvl 40 or so she started getting weak and her carrying capacity is not what it used to be. So, she's sitting in Breezehome right now.

Seems to be a pattern about every 20 levels followers just not cutting it anymore.

I don't use Lydia for her ability to help with combat other than she makes for a great target while I can remain hidden for those sweet bonuses.

Though, I'm getting tired of reloading after putting an arrow in her knee, killing her. I think it's time to go solo, especially now that we're married.

One other thing: is it really disturbing how the options for Lydia, after marriage, have a "barefoot and pregnant" theme to them? Cook for me? Jeez, you'd think this was medeival times or something. ;)
