who likes Skyrim for what it is and not for what people wish

Post » Mon Jun 11, 2012 1:22 am

I don't know if i should be surprised or not but still to this day 9/10 topics are still disscussing what people wish skyrim was rather than talking about what it is.

Now, I could go down a whole line of things that people complain about that I can agrue against. However, the most popular is "the whole i have no choice and my choices do not affect the world" spin. To me that is so overrated. And if the Devs would have taken things out of skyrim that make it a great exploration, looting and combat game just to have a DA or Mass Effect style RPG i would have vomited.

Quite frankly, what Skyrim is, is simply amazing. Skyrim is in a class of its own. However, I've learned that to make Skyrim a great game you have to think like a developer and do some self-regulating. Well, here's the point were the nah sayers jump in and say thats the devs job! pffffff, i'm glad the devs have given me the choice and ability to deciede how i want to balance my game. All i can say is it does take skill in order how to fully enjoy skyrim.

No matter how you put Skyrim is like a race car that has the performance, horse power and capability to be a champion. All it needs is a good driver with skill, experince and the will to push that car to its limits.

Therefore, what i love about Skyrim is the freedom it allows you. We all know that some people don't use freedom wisely. Some people born in the USA make no life for themselves and spend their entire existence in jail while a starving afganistian can come over to the USA and become a world renown spinal surgen.

What i love about skyrim is the beautiful world it provides. While people are too busy fast traveling and complaining that all the inns look the same.

Thus, the topic is what do you like about Skyrim versus what you wish skyrim was, because in the end that what it all boils down to: What is great about skyrim versus your day dreaming of what you wish it was. And i'm a realist, i focus i what i got rather than what i wish i had and being 400 plus hours in this game i'm only begining to realize all the possibilities i can do with this game!

I enjoyed it for what it is and feel I got my $60 worth from the game.

For me, that's enough.

I don't pay any attention to what people say. I know what I think and that's all that matters to me.

Well, I disagree with the part about self-balancing. You shouldn't have to handicap yourself to have a challenge - the difficulty slider should be able to provide a challenge without you handicapping yourself.

But in terms of the quality of the game, I agree - it truly is amazing from top to bottom. Easily one of the most satisfying games I've ever played.

I got more than my money's worth and with a little imagination, was able to turn it into a great RPG with awesome graphics. So yeah OP, my answer to your question is yes.

What it is to me is a disappointment.

And that's not even considering the "what I wish was in it."

I payed a total of about $180 for the collectors edition and the guide. At a total of 130 hours played so far, Ive not met my mark of "equivilant exchange" ($1 = 1 hour of play time), but I have no doubt i will reach it.

It might be a silly concept, but I feel that if i can get an equal hours play for the price, Ive spent my money well. There are exceptions to this, however.

I find myself playing it less and less. The world is shallow, and devoid of real life and energy. It is distressingly like an MMO minus the other players that make it bearable.

Absolutely. The hours alone I've invested into Skyrim are a testament to how good it is. I've never played a game with a more convincing and believable world and then gives the player the tools to play whatever character they wish.

People would be better off putting their expectations to the side and enjoying it for what it is.

If you wanna see a single-player game that plays like an MMORPG minues the MMO part, go play Kingdoms of Amalur.

J'rahzir came to Skyrim to profit from a war that can last only a week longer. Truly, a shame.

I have nothing but <3 for skyrim, don't get me wrong. great game, and IMHO better than ES4. However, ES3 was vastly superior for one reason alone: depth.

Oblivion had some of the best daedric quests, though, and so does skyrim.

Still, to be more specific, I love skyrim for the same reason as the OP, the amount of choice I have. This game is all about choice and what you (as a player) want to do, as opposed to slightly differing generic storyline that is only different by what cinematic you see depandant on dialogue options. If I want to watch a movie, I'll play mass effect. If I want to play a game, I'll play skyrim (or morrowind).

Okay, now you're just being silly.

Nope.

Skyrim is a massive world and it plays like nearly every RPG before it, which nearly every MMO plays like.

You can't tell me that Skyrim doesn't have mundane fetch quests or dumb kill the X quests because it does. Every step in the adventuring part of Skyrim, i.e. being the Warrior, the Thief, etc, is to get better at what you do and get the next best thing.

Which is what MMORPGs are about.

It's dumbed down. It's streamlined. It's shallow. It's focused on the casuals.

Skyrim is the bullet to Morrowinds arrow.

Better but you still get the traditionalists who prefer the longbow to an assault rifle due to rose tinted glasses.
