Not really. I tend to disassociate myself from hype- it can make the end product seem disappointing...

I was here, it's a great game, but it didn't live up to the hype, which is one of the reasons people were disappointed, but I blame Todd, he should have known his product wouldn't live up to the expectations he set forth. He's as bad as Peter Mylonuex? However the hell you spell it, creator of fable

The only difference is that TES is actually fun.

Skyrim went beyond the hype for me, doing everything I was hoping for and more.

Sure, it has some annoying problems and bugs, but I still love it.

How can I forget the hype? I didn't have huge expectations, oddly. I loved Oblivion and just wanted more TES. Got moar, and it was fun and is fun. The hype makes for good jokes now. I now call spreadsheets too spreadsheety to myself.

Same, now that I'm done with Skyrim, and don't like the idea of vampires, I am waiting for Dawnguard for the same reason

I'm not really one to let hype ruin an experience for me so I enjoyed my first playthrough thoroughly. I will say I was more excited for the modding possibilities than the actual game and got bored with vanilla pretty fast. Really, I was more excited for the release of the CK than the actual game. And yeah, I was on these forums even before Skyrim was released primarily for New Vegas though I'd check out these boards every so often when that got boring.

I'm quite happy with it. And I joined just before the hype and was an excited optimist the whole time.

Only that Todd doesn't really outright LIE about his products. :P

I'll be honest, I was more sketchy about the game than hyped. Mainly due to the lack of attributes, and the introduction of perks.

I was more than surprised by the game though, pleasantly so. I don't miss attributes too much, though I do wish the perks were better, lockpicking was harder, destruction actually scaled properly.

Or at least he waits until he sees which ideas work and which don't before telling the public.

I hate [censored] telling people this, he said spears were not added because they said they couldn't make them feel unique. I mean, how hard is it on the system to handle a weapon on a technical level? That video author is a liar.

I never actually saw him say that spears were impossible due to engine limitations (I find it hard to believe he did, as it would be just such a ridiculous thing to say). Anyone have a source?

And yes, I too have been looking high and low for ways to sabotage the economies of towns. I wonder why that is?

I just pulled up a few videos. I don't really have any idea if he said that, and I wasn't serious. Don't get pissed over nothing.

Pretty much this.

Also, the hype was heaps of fun in the end. All that speculation, the joy of seeing fresh new content, the constant dilemma of staying away from leaked videos, it was awesome.

Not to mention that last week just before 11/11/11. S#!" was jokes.

Magic and DB kind of took away some of the Hype I had for Skyrim. I wasn't on the forums though until a couple weeks ago.

I wasn't on the forums for the hype but I do remember all gaming sites going nuts about it. The hype didn't ruin my experience but I can't help but think what if I didn't know anything about the game until I got it on 11/11/11, how much more I would have enjoyed it.

That's my plan for the next ES and Fallout games, only watch the trailers and avoid all the interviews, articles and gamplay demos.

I remember it because I had a wonderful time passing out "I told you so"'s like there was no tomorrow when it didn't live up to the hype and people were disappointed and I was right and they were wrong and then they were miserable and I was happy because they were miserable and that was good.

He also never said Skyrim had radiant, he said it had radiant story, and it does, but he just didn't tell us that all it was was a random quest generator

being overhyped tends to do that. I was aware that Skyrim wouldn't live up to the hype, but people just don't want to believe it.

I know, dude. I posted the videos as a joke. :ermm:

That's a kind of jackassy attitude, but OK.
