Who do you think would have won.

@Meta basicllly dude I usually say that even if the Legion did take the dam, which they possibly could do at the second battle, I dont see any way that they can hold it, let alone the entire Mojave. The Legion is a tough as nails opponent but its like the Courier tell Lanius at the end of the game, the Legion cant hold the Mojave and the territory that they've already in Arizona and Utah, their army just cant hold up against that kind of strain. If they do then their army is going to be just as strained in not only the Mojave but all the area they cover and at that point you know the NCR is going to strike back, their not just going to sit back in California and watch somebody else take the land that they've fought for the past five years. They're going to send in more expirenced troops instead of the rookies they've got out there fighting now, and sooner or later they'll take back Vegas and the dam. It may be a long and bloody fight, way worse than the one we've seen so far, but like that moron Oliver says, when the bear is pissed it gets stuff done, or something to that effect anyway.

But that just it the NCR would most likely build some sort of wall and become more fortified preparing for a legion assault because A. NCR has a horrible logistic problem with the divide of death being there. B. Legion would just spam troops from Arizona C. Most of the factions are a. weak or b. with CL. D. during the end game slides legion does end most of the conflict in the Mojave with only the BOS and the Boomers being a problem E. didn't NCR send most of its veteran troops from Baja to Hoover? and finally NCR only wants the dam and the strip not much else because their economy is in the tubes they really do not want the land CL wants the Land but doesn't care about the Dam. Also Ed really thinks that when they take the Strip CL would become something better do to the whole an-thesis thesis speech he gave.

Nobody would have won. All the factions are waiting for the Courier to come along and pick the winner. No Courier, no winner.

Let me tell you how this thread is basically gonna go: me, ace, and a bunch of other bandwagon fans are gonna say ncr, and we would be right about that btw. Martyr is gonna pop in and say House, whoops too late he already did. And Gabriel is gonna give us a really well thought out but still unfortunately wrong argument for the legion. A bunch of other people are gonna bicker for awhile and the threads gonna get to about five pages long then probably get locked due to a post limit. *takes a well deserved bow*

I think if the Legion would've won the battle at The Dam, then the NCR would've just brought in the rest of their troops and put their boots up their asses.

Why would NCR troops put their boots up their bums? That'd making marching really painful. :cryvaultboy:

NCR recruits are unexperienced farm boys. Caesar's Legion Recruits are devoted and will die for Caesar until victory. They both have the numbers but Caesar's Legion would be the victor.

Just to prove that they could kick the Legion's ass and kick their own asses at the same time.

The NCR would not be able to push for the dam again if they lost. Chief Hanlon mentions that something is brewing in southern California that is diverting a lot of the army's troops and resources.... looks like they are trying to fight on more than 1 front and that never ends well.

\EDIT: The only thing that would stop the Legion is if Caesar died.

Still, that must be some dedication to NCR if they're willing to stick two boots up their butts. :bonk:

I have mentioned what Hanlon said in some of these threads, but I bet I will be ignored again. The truth hurts too much to acknowledge it, I know.

I am a huge Legion fan, but I would still put my money on NCR. Eddie is a fool, even if the Legion won the battle they would lose the war under his rule. It would be best for the Legion if Eddie would die, and just about anyone of his Pet(whatever) took over, or even Lanius. Eddie's pride gets in his way, and he is at the point that he does not care about the losses as long as he wins his dam... his first major loss. He does not care about a new Rome, and he does not care about his Legion.

The same could be said for the NCR. They are throwing away troops just as much as Legion.

Very true, and I will feel very... silly about my issues with Eddie if the NCR's troubles in the south are in fact Legion issues, but I have the feeling its not :( .

Maybe I just feel like its such a waist for the Legion because I have played Legion longer, and heard there side more then the NCR. My NCR run was over quick as I was not as fond of there story, and it may hurt my over all view of things.

I still can't help but feel that the Legion would be much better off under Lanius, or... well anyone. Eddie just seems to be going threw the motions... I mean it would be hard to believe in something you create, but if leadership was past down to someone who believed in the cause... well then they really would be a force to be reckoned with.

The NCR might be worse in that the really good officers do not get promoted, only the brown nosers who pander to the politicians.

And Lanius does care about his losses? I thought that was his entire stratergy.

That is what Eddie wants you to believe... Would a man who does not care about the cause do a ritual sacrifice in private? Would a man who did not care about throwing away lives into a useless battle be able to be talked down? Its not a threat of him dieing that makes him walk away from the dam...

I would say that the Legion would have won the battle for Hoover Dam, it just seems to me that they were better prepared for it (and assuming House doesn't get someone else to do his job). However, its difficult to really say in the long run what would have happened without the Courier. There's a good chance for instance, that Caesar would have died from his tumor, which leaves the Legion under Lanius and in a sorry state. In this case, House could use this to his advantage.

So I think that without the Courier, the Mojave would have been in a bit of a stalemate still.
