Why Dawnguard will be vampires vs werewolves.

Post » Fri Jun 15, 2012 8:40 am

It would make sense, but also it wouldn't. If the Dawnguard are Werewolves, then wouldn't the player need to choose between one curse or another? What if they just want to stay Human (like me?)

From the evidence so far... I really cannot say.

Vampires are getting a full perk tree along with their storyline in the DLC...

but werewolves are also getting just as good a perk tree.

The question is where that perk tree comes from story-wise.

Xbox user, so I haven't tried it.

Hope no mods are broken though, especially good ones. I modded Morrowind so I know that feel bro.
I think it'll be alright anyway, though, because the modder released the source code for it, so therefore, if any issues crop up as a result of Dawnguard, one could just go in and fix it, probably with permission from the modder if possible, but it can be done. The werewolf mod for Morrowind got updated after the release of Bloodmoon, though I never actually used that mod, since I haven't personally owned a copy of Morrowind THAT long (I think I got the Steam version of Morrowind maybe late last year or earlier this year).

Yeah, this I find a little troubling as well. It's sounding like so far that the perk tree for werewolves will just simply appear as soon as you are a werewolf AND have the DLC installed, but that would be a rather odd way of doing that compared with the vampires, though. I have thought possibly that they may be doing a new minor faction for werewolves to join, and it is there you gain access to the perk tree. One of the confirmed perks suggest the possibility that they might be adding werewolves as encounter creatures to a certain degree, though it could easily just be that the summoned werewolves will just spawn from nowhere and fade away again after a certain amount of time. Encounter werewolves would be pretty awesome, though.

Maybe you'll have a choice on whether you want to become a werewolf or not after helping out the Dawnguard.

If the Dawnguard are werewolves that would completely ruin it. But it would be cool if it was Dawnguard vs. Vampires vs. Werewolves, even though I really doubt Werewolves will have much of a focus, if any. Dawnguard (the DLC) seems to be about vampire killers to me.

I really hope the Dawnguard are normal humans.I would prefer to have a seperate questline or DLC for the werewolf stuff. They should just make the werewolf skill tree and everything will be okay but please no vamps vs werewolves.
They could make werebears vs werewolves fighting over territories. :starwars:

1. Werewolves have no reason to go against vampires. Vice versa.

After Dawnguard... http://filmyonlinevideo.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/07/underworld.jpg best of both worlds

in TS lore werewolves are totally feral and savage when they trasform, typically do not form clans/packs/guild/ect (it is about as likely as seeing the extinction of the dwemer. first hand)have to feed on living things that have back souls (not sure if vampires count) and can sometimes go feral in their human forms aswell. i highly doubt a large group could form an order like the dawnguard seems to be

besides, it is too cliched even for bethesda. werewolves will be thrown a bone or two though

Well actually, AFAIK it's never been confirmed whether or not werebeasts form any kind of clans/packs/etc other than the fact that Hircine can rile them up for his hunts. It's only been confirmed that feral lycanthropy tends to cause insanity, and that insane lycanthropes may be found wandering the wilderness (as seen in Bloodmoon) or hiding in a ruin or cave (as seen in Daggerfall). If there are werewolf factions in existence in the lore, then obviously no one is going to know about that for a variety of reasons, including the possibility that no such groups exist in Tamriel, the possibility that they would be too isolated for anyone to know, or they exist as part of another faction, which actually kind of exists in the lore to a degree.
Spoiler
The Circle of the Companions ended up being composed entirely of (special) werewolves prior to the events of Skyrim.

Probably be something along the lines of vampires feeding on were-wolves to absorb their animalistic powers to awaken their own vampiric abilities and become a Vampire Lord. Vampires want the power, Dawnguard humans want to stop them, and a few were-wolves on the side whom you can free to gain/advance were-wolf abilities as well. If the Dawnguard were were-wolves it would have been in the trailer. As much as some people hate the idea of were-wolves vs vampires, just as many people love the idea and I can't see marketing not taking advantage of that.

I don't think the Dawnguard are all werewolves.

I bet that they welcome werewolves into their ranks as they'd be a great counter to VampLords and aren't a burden on the supply of Cure Disease potions, but they won't all be werewolves.

Why does everyone assume Dawnguard is going to have Werewolves vs Vampires?

I'm not saying I don't want to see werewolves in Dawnguard, I'd like to see them expanded a little bit as I would with Vampires, new talents trees for both? That would be cool.

I think many people here has this preconceived idea that if Werewolves and Vampires exist then they MUST fight because we've all seen Underworld. To me it seems that in some way they'd be more likely to join sides. Here's why: Firstly, they're both minorities forced to live outside society or to hide their abilities if they want to live in society (as the companions do). Secondly, Vampires want to destroy the sun because it's their main weakness. Werewolves are weak in the sun because it puts them into human form. Seems to me that Werewolves would actually benefit from siding with Vampires cause no sunlight=perpetual darkness. If the assumption that Vampires use an Elderscroll to destroy the sun is possible they could surely use it to create a perpetual full moon. Since Skyrim Werewolves maintain their sanity when they transform and don't just kill anything they see it seems reasonable that they could stay in that form and still work with others for a common goal, such as Vampires to make themselves more powerful.

Just a thought.

Because that's a good way to appeal to Skyrim's target demographic of 16 year old males: copy the most cliché story loved by 16 year old females.

Hahahaha no.

Furries? In the Bethesda forums?

they should update female werewolf form model so it's more feminine. (bigger hips and legs, , briasts, more fur on torso, smaller shoulders and arms)

... just.. i... what!

Do real Wolves have big briasts and hips and batting eyelashes?

I can see some heated relationship between Vampires and Werewolves... Farkas has stated some comments about them... It is also known Vampires are more hide and seek, as werewolves are a Three Days Grace type Aggressive (had to put that...)

Besides those very minor details; Vampires are a type of Hunter as are Werewolves... It is clear however Beth prefers new and twists over Originality.(Dwemer being tall instead of small)

There are a number of ways Beth could do this; Maybe this Horkon destroyed someones Family, Village ect and he was a Pack Leader... Or maybe the Vampires destroyed Hircines Shrine.... Or even the Werewolves provoked the Vampires.

It is keen to note that Nords have an animosity towards Vampires... It could be a mix of Mortals and Werewolves for all we know.

Aswel as the suspicion of The Companions; Lol Whiterun had a Red Vortex above it....Its safe to say The Legendary Order Of Warriors is going to sit around and expect pay...

I would LIKE vamps vs lycans BUT it will not be this dlc, the dawnguard are either:
A. Meridia/Arkay Worshippers whom hunt the Undead
B. A group devoted to stopping the sun from being blotted out rather than actually being a Vamp-hater group ( Azura worshippers?)
C. The Anti-Vamp equivalent to the Silver Hand

Not Lycans in theme or purpose. That does not mean there is no member with some wolf in them but it is irrelevant
