Not going to happen. Bethesda has some of the least active devs I have seen, forum presence wise at least.

1. Not his job to answer questions.
2. There is likely no answer that people will accept.
3. There is a difference between what he wants or plans to have in the game and what actually makes it into the game.
4. because as the replies in this thread show, the attitude of the forumites discourages them from caring since we already have our own answers formed.

Seriously... there are plenty of us on here that have honest, valid questions. Why doesn't he just get on the forums and answer questions for a few hours or something.

And I'm not just talking about generic questions that are rigged from the beginning to be answered in a positive, misleading way. I'm talking about from-the-heart honest-to-goodness legit questions. Like "Why did you decide to break away from your PC fan base?" or "What made you think that such-and-such quest line was acceptable in length and dynamics?" or "Why didn't you guys actually level a character to find out that [subject] isn't balanced at all?"

et cetera

Thousands of questions, no Todd Howard? Why?

1) I doubt he has time
2) flaming
3) already answered (in a general sense) before the game was released

Seriously most of the complaints are about changes that were announced before release. In various interviews and press releases and 'making of' videos, the Beth team covered their reasons for making the changes. Now everyone has tried the game and a good number don't like the changes and are asking why, when they just need to go back and see those earlier statements again. The interface, leveling, story etc... all mentioned before.

About bugs and compatibility issues, there usually isn't much to say except., "Patch coming soon". Little stuff like 3rd person horse riding probably comes down to "We were pressed for time"

Because these are not from-the-heart honest-to-goodness legit questions, these are whining.

I find your sig to be very appropriate for this topic .http://i952.photobucket.com/albums/ae8/TruePike/TSE/1307413617441.jpg

Why bother? Majority of fans and consumers do no have the chutzpah to voice their opinion in the only way that matters - with their wallet.

Bugs and all, the DLC will come and the DLC will be gobbled up. The expansion will come, and the expansion will be gobbled up. Eventually they will roll out TES VI and it will be gobbled up.

It will be the same old ridiculous port. It will be even more streamlined. Less features, less armor, less dialogue. Fans will complain all over again like a vicious cycle, but they will buy it. Too many people, too big a cult following, too great a desire for the game to be epic - whatever it may or may not be.

So why spend time answering forum posts?

Because at the end of the day all that matters to a company is the bottom line.

^This^

@OP

Todd is too busy counting his money and collecting GOTY awards. If you are truly persistent and hell bent on getting Todd to talk, try this:

Go to their company headquarters in Bethesda, Maryland and arrive early in the morning. If you're quick, you might catch him right after he parks is car on his way into work... that's your queue to fire off your questions and to see if you get a response. But I bet you $100 that you'll see security guards before you see any answers.

I don't blame him, given the level of most of the "questions" on here (read: obnoxious, entitled, professional-level whining with little to no intelligent content) , I wouldn't answer in his shoes either, in fact I wish he'd formally give the complainers the bird, it's not as if most of the complaints are worth entertaining.

Based on the responses in this thread, no one really wants answers, just a chance to bash Todd. So why should he care?

Probably because it's not mentioned in his jobdescription? I'm sure he have more important things to do, like direct the making of the DLCs and possibly pick teams for early brainstorming for Fallout 4 or The Elder Scrolls 6.

He's directing teams, making important decisions, brainstorming DLC stuff. He has no time to hang out with the immature complainers in this forum.

Why should he have to answer any questions? Skyrim is already breaking sales records on Steam and is sure to win GOTY.

No questions need to be answered. You can't fix what isn't broken. When Michael Jordan won the NBA championship do you think any of his fans demanded he answer questions about why he missed a free throw during the clinching game? Hell no they didn't, it doesn't matter.

Not that it matters or has much to do with the point OP was making, but those example questions she or he listed, to be fair, are pretty loaded. Not sure what Todd would answer, but I can understand him not lowering himself to answering those.

OP asked the question the wrong way. Sorry OP mate but you suggested there could ever be a flaw in the game. Next time try this.. "OMG OMG OMG I wish Tod the GOD would give me 5 min to tell him how flawless his games are. I can't even find a single bug" That will still not get you Tod but, at least the fan boys will stay off you.

I like to think about things like this as I fall through the ground to my death under the blue palace.

He's probably on some unknown, coding centric board. Developers are usually like that. I hang out on one where the lead developers of some major MMOs post, and they interact a lot. But they don't handle questions on their official boards well. I don't blame them. It's overwhelming.

Do any of the developers actually read these forums? and notice what we say? Or are we just voicing our opinions and thoughts to other players/universe/wall?

(and i dont mean the admin and/or moderators who clean up the forums)

The devs used to post on the forums like you, then they took an arrow in the knee.
No, it was because this Forum started being known to the rest of mankind, and then the trolls took over. It's even impossible to try to hide from them, they are everywhere :(

They sure do, and they even post in these forums from time to time.

Everyone in this industry has seen how Ghostcrawler was abused at Blizzard - can't say I blame the Bethesda guys for staying away from the forums.

Because this not an MMO.

Todd doesn't need to come on here and answer every question people throw at him because he doesn't need to stand up to himself or the company. MMOs have to because they are getting most of the cash from your monthly fee. That's the one beauty of being a non-MMO DEV, not having to be in the public eye unless you need too, promotional purposes, game explanation etc.

IF Todd and his team spent time on these forums, the trolls would have a field day and that would be less time devoted to making their games better.

It's the same way with stars, you can write them a letter but by no means do they have to write you back. But then again too, rich people tend to look down on the the so called "lesser" people.
