Good lord. I do not understand what everyone is so bent out of shape about. Its a video game. I enjoy video games as much as the next guy, but I never sit around noticing everything I don't like about the game. I generally notice everything I do like. I consider myself a person that can find what it is the developer tried to do with the game, and mold myself into it. I don't sit around and expect every game released to be a carbon copy of the last with better looks and more quests.
I view games often the way I view bands and musicians. Bands styles change from album to album based on how they grew from the last. Bethesda isn't here to cheat you out of your money. If most of you took the time to sit your butts back, and open your eyes, you'd notice the vast amount of improvements to the game, and the time it took to implement said improvements. Game design takes a long time and I don't feel that's something they have to answer for. They worked their asses off you bring you a title like this.
Bringing Bioware into this argument is pointless. This isn't Bioware, and I'm sure they aren't trying to be like Bioware. Bioware games aren't anywhere near as self directed as Bethesda titles.
I've said it before and i'll say it again. As an artist, hoping to get into the games industry, the last thought in my mind, and I'm pretty confident that I can speak for Bethesda here as well, is to create a game for any other reason than to improve on my last. Any accusations saying I'm trying to sell out, or "dumb down" my game would go in one ear and out the other. Bethesda strikes me as a company of passion in designing their stories and worlds. Stop detracting from the hard work and effort these guys put into the game. Scamming you for your money isn't on their to-do list.
Lastly if something isn't in this title, that was in their last, stop jumping to conclusions like, "Oh they were running out of time, trying to hit such and such date," "Oh they dumbed down this game." If they removed it, it's because they felt it needed to be removed. They felt it wasn't constructive to this new world they are creating. For something removed, they've added something else. Stop playing victim. There was a target, an objective, and they did what they felt was appropriate.
If some of you would quit playing the poor little cheated customer for a minute, sit back and really think about whether its a game you want to play or not, you're questions are answered. If you want to play, play. The game is phenomenal. If you feel like the aspects you enjoyed about the last elder scrolls games are game breaking when removed, maybe this game isn't for you. Try for the next title, or wait for the CS.
It really bums me out to see so much negativity. It's an amazing title, and I feel it's a major improvement on the last. It deserves way more respect.
I petition for a "Complaints, and Suggestions" section. General discussion seems more like a Dell customer service call center, than a Skyrim discussion thread.
