He goes 120mph in reverse because it makes the odometer go backwards, easyer to sell with fewer miles :celebration:

"The miles aren't coming off."

maybe because all your questions are so obviously one-sided nothing they can say to appease you; you're asking Todd to answer "why are you such a terrible developer", how do you expect him to answer those questions?

Thanks.
Questions in the OP are just silly representations of actual questions that people really have. I'm sorry you didn't get the memo.

Well, there is the problem. The OP had a bunch of stupid, leading questions. You want Bethesda to talk to you, but with questions like that in the OP they won't even read past that point.

I would list all of my legit questions on here, but it would be the quinbillionth thread that has the same legit questions. Sorry if I had assumed you had been reading more then 1/50000 of the posts on this forum.

I'd say they have a better frame of reference than reviewers who play the game for 3-10 hours before giving it a 9.9 or 10

The game is all surface luster with no depth, you can't figure that out in the time it takes to give a review on these famous websites.
The game has lots of promises and no follow-through. That's why you get these situations.

What would it accomplish? Ease of mind for a very, very small portion of their fans? The responses would all be typical and predictable, and it would be more of a bother for them than help for us.

It is pointless. They updated us on what they're working on, and anyone who thinks they aren't working hard to patch the game and get the creation kit out is delusional/ a troll.

I personally am very very forgiving in terms of bugs or glitches, as long as my game runs fine and doesn't CTD often. And mine is more than fine.
So I'm not delusional or trolling. I know they're trying to patch the game.

But what I also know they aren't doing is making the game any better, and if you think that only a small minority of people have concerns or questions about their logic and reasoning behind 1. Lying to us, 2. Misleading us, and 3. Changing what many of us loved about TES for the worst, then you also haven't been aware of people's voiced concerns, and I would even suggest that you aren't even a fan if you don't see any of it yourself.

Bethesda wanted to "cast a wider net" with Oblivion, and they did. But as a side effect, some of their new fans (even the less tactful ones!) began frequenting these very forums. And the sight of these new creations frightened Bethesda's higher ups into never visiting the forums again. Frankenstein's monster was unleashed.

In summary, they are content having your money they don't want to talk to you lowly peasants as well.

You stated that the question in your OP was just an example, but judging from your posts, I'm guessing those are the only kinds of questions you want answers too. So, again, what would be the point of Todd Howard answering them? Would it change anything? Would it ease your mind?It would probably upset the kind of fans who would ask them even more.

The answer to the title of this thread is that it would be a pointless waste of every ones time that would end up doing more harm than good. You probably know that, and what you really want is for Todd to admit to sacrificing certain aspects of the ES and the game design for consoles/ sales.

I feel you, man, but you're just not going to get what you want.

I agree that I'm not going to get what I want, but my sample questions are accurate, but generalized representations of actual legitimate questions that frequent page one of this forum even as I type this, and will continue to do so, because many people feel this way. Of course my sample questions are silly, but, like most people on here who don't defend the game to their dying breath in every last theatre, I have real questions, and I don't like to be ignored 100%.

Every time a problem is had, the complainers want the Lead Designers to hold a press conference so they can repeatedly say "Why?"

He is teh Game Director not the lead designer yo. He is the only one responsible for the Game - the rest are just doing their jobs. Everything you see in the game, everything you like in it, and everything you dont like has been approved or introduced by him personally.

Good lord. I do not understand what everyone is so bent out of shape about. Its a video game. I enjoy video games as much as the next guy, but I never sit around noticing everything I don't like about the game. I generally notice everything I do like. I consider myself a person that can find what it is the developer tried to do with the game, and mold myself into it. I don't sit around and expect every game released to be a carbon copy of the last with better looks and more quests.

I view games often the way I view bands and musicians. Bands styles change from album to album based on how they grew from the last. Bethesda isn't here to cheat you out of your money. If most of you took the time to sit your butts back, and open your eyes, you'd notice the vast amount of improvements to the game, and the time it took to implement said improvements. Game design takes a long time and I don't feel that's something they have to answer for. They worked their asses off you bring you a title like this.

Bringing Bioware into this argument is pointless. This isn't Bioware, and I'm sure they aren't trying to be like Bioware. Bioware games aren't anywhere near as self directed as Bethesda titles.

I've said it before and i'll say it again. As an artist, hoping to get into the games industry, the last thought in my mind, and I'm pretty confident that I can speak for Bethesda here as well, is to create a game for any other reason than to improve on my last. Any accusations saying I'm trying to sell out, or "dumb down" my game would go in one ear and out the other. Bethesda strikes me as a company of passion in designing their stories and worlds. Stop detracting from the hard work and effort these guys put into the game. Scamming you for your money isn't on their to-do list.

Lastly if something isn't in this title, that was in their last, stop jumping to conclusions like, "Oh they were running out of time, trying to hit such and such date," "Oh they dumbed down this game." If they removed it, it's because they felt it needed to be removed. They felt it wasn't constructive to this new world they are creating. For something removed, they've added something else. Stop playing victim. There was a target, an objective, and they did what they felt was appropriate.

If some of you would quit playing the poor little cheated customer for a minute, sit back and really think about whether its a game you want to play or not, you're questions are answered. If you want to play, play. The game is phenomenal. If you feel like the aspects you enjoyed about the last elder scrolls games are game breaking when removed, maybe this game isn't for you. Try for the next title, or wait for the CS.

It really bums me out to see so much negativity. It's an amazing title, and I feel it's a major improvement on the last. It deserves way more respect.

I petition for a "Complaints, and Suggestions" section. General discussion seems more like a Dell customer service call center, than a Skyrim discussion thread.
