Why not make it online?

Post » Tue Jun 05, 2012 3:21 am

( After a few bumps into my head from the reality hammer i do realise that MMO TES would actually be impossible and not appeal to most of the TES players.

BUT

co-op would be very fun to be put in this game. Maybe most people would not like the whole MMO concept but playing with a few friends would DEFINETLY be fun, imagine running around with some of your friends healing each other , one taking a beating from a monster, while the other sneaks around snatching valuables.

Because the whole concept is about having the player create a story themselves, pretty hard to do that in a mmo

Because that would mean the death of TES as a single player game.

Why kill TES by adding multiplayer?

Yes i realise that it is very hard and i did state that, but if ALOT of work is put into it im sure that it will live up to the demand and make millions of gamers interested. I for one would pay on a subscription base model for a game like that.

Think of yourself leading a bunch of players as the Jarl of a hold, i know it sounds unrealistic but in my opinion it would be golden.

no please god, i hope they dont do that, there single player games and should always stay that way, multiplayer always takes away from the single player, since they dont spend all there time on makeing single player, it wouldnt be as good as it is now, maby fallout tho that would be fun always wanted to play new vegas with a friend.

I know there are billions of reasons to not make it online but there are also billions of reasons to make it online, so why not make it an online game?

If enough time and effort can be put into the next series (if there will be any) it could be implanted as an online roleplaying game, the first of its kind and im betting millions of players would be playing it.

Sorry, but the single player aspect is the only reason I play TES games. My character has a bigger impact over the game world than he can in an online game where everything is static and never changes. Online games take away freedom and often cater to the lowest common denominator type player.

If you want an online game then go play one, there are 100's to choose from. TES is unique because it offers a single player experience that is unmatched and gives me the freedom I enjoy. The freedom to kill who I want, the freedom to steal stuff from whoever I want, the freedom to loot whatever I want, the freedom to change the gameworld based on my actions alone, etc. Online games will never offer this.

Have you seen what a mmo is really like? Bunch of people trolling chat channels and running around naked would butcher TES.

In my opinion, adding an MMO style multiplayer would be a bad idea. I cringe at the thought of walking around Solitude and hearing stuff like this:

Player 1: plz help im a noob
Player 2: IRON ORE 5GP!!!111

And such. However, I think that being able to play with, maybe, three other people over a network (or co-op at the same screen?) would be fantastic. Raiding dungeons with a few of your friends would be a wonderfully fun experience, I think.

I see no one else would want such a thing and i can understand, but how about adding a 2 players system as in 2 companions/friends wandering the world together ( lets say they can't be 50 metres apart from each other) and enjoying the game like you have a follower with you. Now that would not ruin the whole concept.

Edit : Daedralord101 i did not see you mention the things i mentioned above, was typing them and then the thread updated. You took the ideas right out of my mouth :)

I do not want it online so I don't have to listen to elitist jerks and people screaming newbie every 5 seconds. Also I do want to have to pay millions if not billions in gold for decent gear and upgrades like most MMOs to scammers and greedy a-holes. It is a graphic texture and meshes that someone looted off a cartoon character, not the frikkin NYSE FFS!!!

becuase mmos cost money to make and they cost money to run and they cost too much money to continue support( namely expansions, and imo Blizzard spent to much time keeping WOW afloat with all the expansions.

furthermore I doubt TES:online would be able to compete with WoW for long.

everybody would want guns in it...

that and MMOs are not everybody's cup of tea.

I would LOVE Skyrim to be a MMO. For those who don't want it shouldn't play it. Let us who do want it to be online play. I do not believe for a moment that it would destroy the single player game. true fans would still play single in spite of MMO version.

If well built with few glitches would probably out beat wow since the quality in textures are way better. What the hell are you waiting for gamesas? You have a great game going. It will also be an additional income going to pay for future developments.

Could you imagine the queue around Red Mountain/Kvatch/Whiterun as a thousand Nerevarines/Whatever I was called/Dragonborns await their turns?

That is the reason my friend. That.

If your buddy dced then the game would pause + autosave , it will resume if your friend comes back online , if not then you could continue from your save when you and your friend could get back together.

Again, TES is about the ability of the player to live and play their own individual story. A mmo would not be able to pull this off, it would only cheapen the feel of TES.

So, because you want it we should all want it? If you so desperately need to play a MMO go play one of the many MMOs already available.

And what? Making TES a MMO wouldn't hurt the singleplayer? Great logic.

I disagree that TES should be made MMO. However a co-op would be pretty interesting. I always loved Co-op in rpg games. Oh man good old Champion of Norrath...
