Its a misguided attempt to teach bethesda a lesson but little do these people realize losing to a game like skyward sword may seriously damage morale over at bethesda. Again i ask people to look past the bugs and glitches that will be fixed eventually and think. Does skyrim really deserve to be the first elder scrolls to not get game of the year?

I love TES, but for some reason, I'm inclined to say I love Zelda more.

(personally, I've never played a Zelda game. But that's mostly because I've never owned any Nintendo console or handheld. :shrug: Doesn't mean I need to be all "anti" it.... I've never really understood this desire by people to divide up into little tribes and declare that the Game/Movie/Band they prefer is clearly superior to the Game/Movie/Band that the obvious morons over in the other tribe like.)

Voted for Skyrim. Not a Zelda fan, and Skyrim is one of the best games I've ever played.

What? Developing a game is a not a competition to see who's better, it's a business to make money.

They probably don't care that much about an award that doesn't mean anything, they just need a GotY award from at least one site (and there are tons) and that's all they need to stick it on the packaging.

I'm both a LoZ fan and TES fan for years, they are the best video game franchises in my opinion, and I plan to get Skyward Sword next year, meaning I have to buy a Wii before the Wii U's launch. From what I'm seeing, most Zelda fans have already beaten Skyward Sword and are all over the Internet praising the game, there are so many articles showing how much they enjoyed it. While most of TES fans are still playing Skyrim, and have been in the shadows of the gaming media/Internet since 11.11.11. Which means Skyward Sword has the highest chance of winning VGA's GOTY award this year, because of the Skyward Sword praise flooding the gaming media, but y'know.. an award is an award. The only thing that matters when playing video games is having fun, not comparing them to see which game is the best.

Having played every Zelda game up to Twilight Princess and likewise playing every TES game up to Oblivion, I have to say that while both have an epic past, only Zelda seems to have a fun future.

Oblivion was a step towards mass appeal and Skyrim appears to have moved even further down that road. Mass appeal is good for the following people:

Game Developers - More $
Game Publishers - Even more $
Young Gamers - Don't know any better
Series Addicts - Love every game in a series regardless of it's merit

And most players likely started with either LTTP or OoT, and fell in love with it ever since. Even Majora's Mask, which really put the icing on the cake with Link's well earned nick name "The Hero of Time".

... Maybe I should distnce myself from this place when you have so many people who cant handle people liing other games more. Going so far as to call them mentaly ill. Well this is a forum dedicated entirely to Elder Scrolls, where the majority of their fan base comes to. It takes some getting used to, but threads similar to these, you always gonna see some TES bias. There's nothing wrong with that. And Skyrim General is really devoted fan haven.
