Why do people prefer Zelda than Skyrim?

Post » Fri Dec 09, 2011 2:40 am

and still dont u think that its strange that 40 years old ppl playing zelda? maybe some people enjoy fighting butterflies or rabbits but i will stick to killing dragons

Because when you grow up you learn maturity isn't about praising bloody and brutal things. Skyrim's fun. Zelda's fun.

Some people like zelda more than skyrim. Some the other way around. There's just as many people who are voting for skyrim that have no idea what zelda's about as there are the other side.

But if you prefer depth and deep, engrossing moral decisions, or just plain dialogue options... and any shred of pen & paper RPG elements to help make your experience unique, I wouldn't recommend Skyrim.

Zing!

But really, when looking for a "game of the year" generic title what should you chose? Skyrim is great, however it is not completely stable and while it does some things wonderfully, other parts of the game are a disaster.

Graphics? They are subjective. If all you care about is graphics then go watch a movie, they have great graphics and are for advlts.
I like Skyrim and Skyward Sword is a good game.

Out of all of them I think AC:Revlations deserves to win the title. It is the last game in a great series. I hope Ubisoft can come up with a series that can fill the void that will be left by the absence of Assassin's Creed in the next generation of gaming.

The comparison between TES and Zelda is ridiculous. They are two different genres of games.
"Hey guys what's the best sport Baseball or Pro Surfing" lol? You cannot compare two things that are so vehemently different.

Obviously Basketball. Otherwise you're an idiot.

Like me, I bet many people are sick and tired of these threads and just in general "which game is better". You call yourselves gamers? more like whiney little school brats who can't make up their mind over school lunch.

Its simple, you like the game or you dont.

And I may add to all you players that are talking smack about skyrim, why are you on their forums complaining? you are just adding more fuel to the fire

You wanna hear my 2 cents?! I enjoyed both games muhahahahahaha

Where are you getting this? Assassin's Creed 3 will be the next AC game. Revelations is only the conclusion to Ezio's story.

I only played BF:3 in beta on Xbox36. I wasn't too into it since I was rusty on my BF game.
I think Modern Warfare does less than BF series, but the MW series typically does it better.

I've been looking forward to playing MW3 more for the plot more than anything. Blackops and MW2 both had some of the most interesting plots that I've seen in any video game. Very well done.
Most of the people I know also play MW3, so you know how that is. I am also better at MW than I am at BF... I know BF is more realistic(I was in the army), but games aren't always about being realistic.

Nothing wrong with the Zelda series. Link to the Past was my all time favorite.

Zelda: Skyward Sword is a better game than people give it credit for.
It appears to be childish at a glance because of the art style...But just because a game doesn't revolve around image/graphics and gore doesn't make it a bad game.

Same goes for Wind Waker. And Twilight Princess is better than Skyrim, it's a complete, well designed and polished game whereas Skyrim could have used another year of dev time. And i don't say that only because of bugs, but becasue of many mechanics and features too.

Haven't played Skyward Sword yet, i have it on my table but the inevitable motion controls are a damn big barrier to overcome :lmao:

Agreed. Unless you lived in the time people can't understand how games were. Zelda: Link to the past was epic, and in my opinion is the best Zelda game to date.

yes the best thing of MW3 is epic single player campaign, i used to play on a decent level in CoD4 but now i moved to counter strike source and looking forward to buy global offensive
as its more competetive game.

The new Corvette is an amazing automobile, and it can be purchased with equipment that can humble many 'world class' sportscars that cost twice as much

Those other cars and the Corvette are handily out-sold by sedans sold by Toyota.

Those sedans are "more popular". Does that make the Corvette an inferior car to a Toyota four-door sedan?

There are going to be more AC games including AC3 which is releasing next year.

CS:Source, man it's been years since I've played Counter Strike. I never got to play source, I kind of missed out on it due to working and worthless girlfriends. lol I'm definitely going to pick up Global offensive when it is released on console. I stay away from FPS games on my PC now, after the original Counter Strike I realized I can't keep up with most of the experts. Console is less competitive for the most part. Although FPS on PC is more interactive due to clans/teams and stuff.

Apples and oranges, really. They're two very different series, and I love them both.

As for Game of the Year, the award is a joke. So many different sources give out GOTY awards that it's hard for a mainstream game to get a GOTY at least once. Not only that, but it's not like you have to earn the right to make a "Game of the Year Edition".

People liking one game more than another is mentally ill? Ridiculous.

Personally, I prefer Zelda over The Elder Scrolls thanks to the former's clever level design, boss battles, puzzles, collectables, music and quirky, memorable characters. Everything, really.

Edit- And no, it isn't nostalgia. I buy each new Zelda not because I'm remembering the "good old days" fondly, but because they're quality titles every time.

Some folks like playing light hearted pre-destined roleplaying games. And some like both, but at different times.

There's nothing wrong with that, whatsoever. Choice is a beautiful thing.

I play a few MMO's, Skyrim and I run a weekly tabletop RPG. I can't tell you how many folks try to convince me that one's better than the other. They all serve a purpose and all have different facets that I enjoy.

I find it stranger that you take such offense to that. Like someone already said, maturity ≠ RIP AND TEAR. People have different tastes and there is no right or wrong opinion.

Not sure if srs reading your posts. A couple of very obvious things which you are ignoring:

- Different tastes.

Well, just one thing then. Why people care about someone's gaming preferences is beyond me.

And when trying to insult a whole group of people (by calling them mentally ill), make sure you spell it right, especially considering the insult you used.

Me...I haven't played either of those games (although I once played Zelda on the SNES).
