I began playing wow in 2004 as a beta tester. People do not like change. ( well, some do, and some don't) I'm one of the "dont's.

As a player from the classic days, i feel the game was more of a challenge back than. We worked our butt's off for what we got. We crawled around on the ground at a snails pace and and immersed ourselves in the world. We did 40 man raids that took weeks to orgnize and fully complete. It was a challenge, it was new, it was refreshing.

The general player base was more mature back than (barring Barrens chat of course). I played regulary from the early beta days up untill the middle of WOTLK when it became a "casual" game. A dumbed down babysitter holding a silver platter containing all the rewards i worked my ass off for 5 years for any brat that wanted it. (no offense to anybody i hope, but their out there) I saw many players and friends quit back than because of this.

I did pop back in to see Cata for a couple months. it was fun for a bit just seeing what became of the world and some of the quests, but as i went along the quests bored me and seemed silly, aimed towards the "casual" theme Blizzard decided to pursue.

Gone are the days of opening Ahn'Qiraj for the 1st time. (i was there on proudmoore that fateful day, we crashed the server!) Gone are the days of epic warlock quests to get your doomguard.
Gone are the days of busting your butt for your lvl 40 mount.
Gone are the good ole days :(

Any player from the old days know's exactly what i mean. you may have accepted the transition, but you remember the good old days.

The player races never bothered me, I played Horde. Tauren almost exclusly (14 Tauren across 5 servers, lvl 60-85). It's been so long since i even bothered with WoW i had to go look up these panda's and see what it was all about. I may pop back on for a month to see what it's like and check up on my pasture, but i wont buy this Monks of panderia. My wow days are over untill Blizzard either releases the legal rights to play on private servers or brings some "classic" servers online.

There are twink guilds out there that specilize in classic and BC content, I was an officer and founding member of one. but the immuture player base is still out there bashing anybody that dont lvl to 85 and faceroll all the content while standing around Orgimmar for a week.
Don't get me wrong, there are a lot of decent people out there as well, but it became a facerolling cookie-cutter grind fest and i had had enough.

I can't blame WoW for my missing a lot of great games while i was caught up in Azeroth, that was my fault but i had a great time in those days.

WoW has always been a game aimed at "casuals". The point of the game from the beginning was to streamline the MMORPG concept into something more forgivable that more people could enjoy. Those who were active in Everquest hardcoe raiding probably point and giggle at the elitism shown by classic WoW raiders.

The only reason I go on WoW anymore is to screw with the economy.

Remember DAoC?

I don't know how to feel. The problem is that i'm a lore nerd, and that is for everything. That world has more mystery then any other game, and I [censored] love that. However they continually [censored] with it to the point that they should stop and make WC4.

Also most of the original talent has moved to Project Titan.

So I just resubscribed to WoW via the scroll of resurrection program.

You have a friend invite you back to WoW and they get a free mount, and you get:

+ 7 days of free game time
+ A free upgrade to Cataclysm
+ Free character transfer to your friend's server and faction
+ Free upgrade to level 80 for any of your characters.

So I already had Cataclysm, but I jumped my DK alt from 55 to 80 in 2 seconds...Haha pretty nice.

If anyone wants an invite via this program let me know, nice rewards out of it.

I am biased against WoW it is over hyped because they did not introduce anything to MMORPGs they just stole from Everquest and Asherons Call mainly slapping it in the Warcraft universe. So ya I never cared for WoW. The MMORPG I have played the most is LOTRO which is made by Turbine same creators of AC and the Tolkien universe is amazing and worked quite well for a MMORPG.

Now since Activision is in the loop now my expectations of Blizzard have shot down tremendously.

Now the really sad thing is I got 2 beta invites to MOP over the last month and never paid a single dime for WoW either subscription or even store and played literally less 10 hours of it. Or even Blizzard in general yet I have free access to play an upcoming BETA for a future expansion where as my friends that have played WoW for several years dropping several hundreds of $$$$ on their and still are haven't been granted such access.

Maybe I would have tried it but GW2 is here.
