What lore? Wc3 had a story. I'm not sure about wow.
The questlines definitely tell a story.

Pandas?
*Google searches...*

Yes, WoW always had the cow race, which even on 1st release I didn't like. But kung-fu panda's takes the cake. I actually find it funny. Blizzard is warped. :D
That said, I quit WoW during the WotLK beta and haven't been back since. And a new panda race certainly won't bring me back. Cartoon-ness isn't what made me quit, tho...I just didn't like the direction they were going in gameplay wise. The game was cool for a few years after it was released, then went downhill rapidly after that ... imo.

I've always thought the writers for WoW did a good job with the quests.

The questlines definitely tell a story.
Plus, each expansion had its own overarching story/lore.

Why so much hate for the game? Its one of the most succesful games ever. I find it fun.

That may be because I have a great guild and I love the gameplay. I've made friends in WoW that I still have contact with outside of the game. I probably would have quit if I hadn't had such a great guild and only PUGged.

Well, China is their main growth market now. Actually, I'd wager its their only growth market.

Well no because their server were down for over 12 months and even wrath of the lich king wasnt released, and this is from the blizzard page, and the fact that the chinese government are using prisoners to subsidise prisons by making money from selling gold online.

I dont think it makes any difference if they introduce dancing chickens as a playable class, WOW pretty much wrecked the lore of warcraft, and if they needed anything to make it a viable continuously viable game they should look at the mechanics and its balance, plus the gameplay, grinding instances, endlessly no matter what the expansion is called is basically what the game is, that and farming, they really need to change the way the game is played i played over 4 years and just couldnt see the inside of the same instance again day after day, or spend 4 hours in said raid instances, there is no variety in a single day its endless repetition.

Plus their character mechanics balance, even Blizzard owned up to this, they said they were having problems balancing PVP against PVE, even though it was simple, make PVP only no pve, just like online multiplayer PVP, and PVE online servers with no PVP battlegrounds, so each group had mechanics which worked for what they were built for, i had a hunter, which was wrecked because of so many complaints from PVP players, then they fixed it in WOTLK till one player got massive damage in an instance, then they destroyed the mechanics again.

Also the pandaren were requested by so many player for so long, and pandaria was still listed as part of the world, whether an easter egg or not it was an npc in warcraft 3, it wasnt a 1 second glimpse of an npc it was a viable npc, they put it in and blizzard was well known for doing such things, but adding a player character still doesnt change the core problems with the game.

Instant level 80? Haven't they already done enough to ensure that the low level questing zones are empty...

I hate how most of the game is spent in the cities now just waiting for the next queue.

Amazing if i get resurrected do i get resurrected with my 35.000 gold that i had, one of the many reasons i gave it up, i couldnt beleive that they had a listing of armour and equipment but not money, so if you got your character stolen you never got your gold back, after years of hard grinding to get the money i had, and id have lost that i would have instantly uninstalled and not bothered even asking them to reinstate my account.

My best bet is that it is an April Fool's joke... and when the time of when this is suppose to come out, they're going to release something good instead of whatever this joke is.

I'm actually kinda intrigued by this expansion now that I have seen the talent trees. One thing in particular is how the talents have been ripped out and you now just choose a few talents that generally seem to change a lot and some of those talents don't even seem so great for specializing in some one specific thing like the level 90 druid talent Heart of the Wild.

http://eu.battle.net/wow/en/game/mists-of-pandaria/feature/talent-calculator#Ub!

Does this mean they are going for a more fun playing style again where you can do many different things and not feel gimped and where you have more crazy abilities that are less balanced. I remember in vanilla WoW the game was very unbalanced which created a very big "rock-paper-sciccors" environment or even just a "I can pwn all so you better avoid me" case for some classes (anyone remember the old world of roguecraft videos ? http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=7410095177695043805) where characters feel more unique rather than the current "you got heals ? so do I!","you can stun a lot ? so can I!","you have a combat pet ? so do I!" or will WoW continue to get more like chess again with everyone getting what the other classes have and will druids continue to be restricted to one form to function properly with their talent tree ?

There is a lot of fun in the statistical side of the game that comes with raiding and overcoming challenges but to even participate in that side of the game you have to have huge amounts of time to invest into the game and when the focus is on that rather than general fun that can be gained by playing in short playing sessions then the game becomes more for the "few dedicated" rather than the general player.

Not saying that I like it when games are dumbed down and made more casual but MMO's are a special breed of games that should try to promote fun interactions between players rather than the general "ggrrrr you need 1% more stat boost before I stop spitting on your lowly self!" or "okay we have 25 people and 25 schedules to line up, and our runs must be perfect to a hair, one mistake or a lost raid and you're out!".

Raided in vanilla and WOTLK and while both managed to be fun for me only WOTLK raiding managed to be stressful at the same time. In vanilla you'd do a run, have a laugh if someone made a mistake and go for it again, in WOTLK it was "OMGF WE WIPED ALL ABORT THE RAID!!!!!!!!" and even when that should make finishing a raid more satisfying you just ended up feeling "phew, it's over" rather than "yay, loot and good stuff! This was fun!".

Or perhaps that's just my experience, didn't raid in TBC and I haven't raided in Cataclysm so I can't tell how it is now nor how it was in TBC.

That's.....very sad.
From what I've seen/read/heard from beta friends, I'm not even sure Diablo3 will be a good game. Notice I did not say "not a best-seller."

Agreed. WoW's real problem is something that they likely aren't going to be able to fix without making a new game: The game works on core mechanics and ideas which were revolutionary in 2004, when "casual friendly" meant "you can solo in it." Honestly, even then it's working on very similar mechanics to EQ and previous MMOs. The shine is wearing off the apple, and people are starting to look for something new, just like they were in 2004.

The game's not going to die anytime soon, but the writing's on the wall: WoW's best days are behind it.

Seems like many/most MMOs have really boring combat. I just reinstalled LotRO for the first time in years. Dusted off my old Champion and went out to fight some Orcs. How boring! The skills are queued so all I did was click on an enemy, mash four different buttons and then picked my teeth while he killed it.

Ahh I cant wait for GW2 to finally kill this game. Ive hated this game for so long, it has all the terrible community, "idols" , general gameplay mechanics and cartoony graphics that I hate about MMOs.

You don't like something... so you want it to die? It's so cool wanting to deprive people of a game they love.

I don't want to live on this planet anymore. I hope it dies.

Ah, definitely. I tried to get into Lord of the Rings Online a couple of times because I love Lord of the Rings, but the game is just terrible. Quests are the most terrible thing. It's a complete mess. Combat is pretty terrible too.

I feel that a whole bunch of MMOs have skill-based combat, where you just press a button and your character will cast a spell or use a skill. It's too bad that games don't have like real combat where if you left-click you swing your sword or something like that... something other than auto-attack.

Just read the details today and I have to admit, for all my griping about WoW, this is a damn good deal. Free Cataclysm, free faction/race change, and an instant lvl 80. I might just have to try WoW again while waiting for GW2. Regardless, I'm definitely going to see if I can find someone to send me a SoR; too good of a deal to pass up.

I might use the level boost on a Mage...always wanted to try one, but never felt like doing ANOTHER round of 1-80 leveling. Does anyone know how they are solo?

At this point in the game any class can solo a lot quite easily and leveling to 80 is far quicker than leveling to 60 ever was in Vanilla. Shouldn't take you long if you decide that you want to pick up WoW again (I myself might do that again once the new expansion is out just to give it a spin and see if they put any seriousness into it).
