After playing Fallout3 and FONV, you think you could survive an post-apocalypse war? Do you think these games will help us any if we ever have one? :obliviongate:

Assuming it functioned like Fallout to the letter? Yes. How? Securing myself in a luxury hotel.

The new Tenpenny Tower? I think so. :spotted owl:

Sure they'll help! If we get hurt, doctors can use seryngues to restore broken limbs and put us back on our feet.
Can't convince a gang leader? Take your magazine on how to convince people and read it in front of him. (He'll patiently wait until you're done)

We'll only have to sleep 5 hours every 3-4 days to be fine, too. :P

I'll be back in a bit, I think I forgot bullets in my desk, carton of cigaretes in my trashcan, old steak in the broken oven and a shotgun in my tiny mailbox.

I've already begun saving pressure cookers, vacum cleaners, and bobby pins just in case.

In real life? Assuming that you survived whatever caused the apocalypse then yeah, I think anybody could survive without much trouble. In Fallout? I'm not too sure. Obviously I'd give it a go lol. But there's not much you could do if you were jumped by a mutated animal that's 10x the size it's supposed to be.

10000 stimpaks, advanced radiation armor with a DT of no less than 20, a weapon that can punch through power armor.

Probably not.

Well the difference between reality and Fallout is of course, radiation won't cause monsters and ghouls. It'll just kill [censored].

In a roundabout way, Fallout has indeed taught me a few things that can be useful in a post apocalyptic setting. I'd be playing Fallout and would wander to my self "self, do you think it would be possible to actually do (insert character action) after a nuclear war and survive?" That just leads to doing some internet research and now I know how long after a nuke you could be outside safely if atleast for short periods of time, you can filter water through earth to remove radiation, and some other stuff I can't remember at the moment...

Yeah I know, if you were caught in a bomb blast you'd be [censored]. I'm safe from nuclear bombs where I am though lol. I'm living in the arsehole of the world, that's the most effective nuclear defense there is lol.

I'd survive because I have two important things:

1. Weapons

2. No fear of using them.

My -karma would be extremely low and I be hated everywhere I go. I don't think I'd last long because everyone would be trying to kill me

Seriously though, if it is anything like the global destruction depicted in the Fallout world, most everyone in and around all major cities would be gone in a flash. The best that we could hope for as a species is to prepare and make sure we leave behind the knowledge for future generations of survivors to rebuild. That means start drawing up schematics for Rock-it-Launchers and Dart guns. :P
