Wouldn't pc user be better betatesters?

So what are the bets so many NDA's will be broken by a flock of new folk trying to get the beta early...since YOU NEED TO HAVE an account on THIS FORUM to Beta.

oh whats that? forumers are actually important now? :shock&awe:

There will be so many broken NDAs. The UESP will have to be completely shut down for the duration of the beta test.

There's nothing really wrong with Beta testing on a console, but most consolers are simply going to apply to get the game early, not to actually do the job.

It's kind of a weird posistion to be in. PC is the worse platform to beta test on, but has the people who are more likely to actually "Test" and not just play. Consoles limited variables means an easier time optimizing and bug fixing a lot of the more critical issues. Like quest-breakers and the lockups, but the people themselves are... well... Just look at some of the posts in the "Apply to the Dawnguard beta" thread.
That's an unfair statement. The hordes of new members who joined just for the Beta may do that but if i get a code i'm gonna test the damn thing and do my job.

Oh, don't mind me while I load up Skyrim with the 4k texture pack. It's not like staring at non-blocky faces and smooth edges make a difference. Not at all.
Keep on dreaming, console users. Keep on dreaming. Also, downloading mods is like getting a medium sized DLC every other day. Otherwise, it's the same.
That guy's comment was fairly silly, but let's not turn this into a platform contest.

On topic, I think at this point, the beta isn't so much about finding bugs, but more about design choices, 'Do crossbows do enough damage to be viable?', 'Is this vampire lord ability balanced?' etc. That isn't to say people won't encounter bugs, it's very likely that they will. It's no stretch to imagine Bethesda have already tested Dawnguard extensively (we would hope), this beta is not a replacement for internal testing, I think it's more for them to get external feedback on the way Dawnguard works.

With regards to OP: Why? Are PC gamers some game testing super race?

Or is this sour graqes?

Yeah. Sour graqes. You already get the CK and all the mods that spring from it, is a 1 - 2 month wait for something really such a big deal?

I don't know if your being sarcastic or not, but my faces are not blocky by any means, my edges of textures are just fine thank you, and mods are not like downloading a DLC every other day because most of the mods for Skyrim are superficial in nature, not adding much to the game other then looks, there aren't very many " quest mods " out there. The textures on my 360 version are just a slight bit under that of Pc's, so yeah as a PC player I think your feathers have been ruffled  Don't tell me how my game looks, I know better then you how my game looks. :stare:

Ditto. Mainly because i'd like to be able to play a smooth running version of the finished product, but also because i hate reading all the complaints on this forum about bugs and such in a finished product.

I'm thinking the same. But the commenter's gross understatement had to be corrected. It's one thing to prefer [Console / PC] over [PC / Console] and another thing to say that the two are totally on the same level. No, they aren't. As someone who played on an XBox before, I can attest to that.

No you cannot, I have played my Xbox version next to a PC version and besides the mods and textures that are a little bit better there really isn't that much of a noticeable difference between the two, unless the PC is running ENB's and better lighting mods etc...etc... Your just haten is all it is just like you normally do to us console players.

I think steam is giving us PC users a bad rep.. Its true that most steam users are stupid.. but the other people.. are not.. the Nexus users are much more intelligent then the average Steam workshop user.. If you look at the SkyUi page on the steam workshop the comments... I cant explain it in one word so... the comments they post show that they know almost nothing... they keep asking for a non-SKSE version because " its too hard to use " If you look at the Nexus users.. the comments are usually compliments to the mod.. So some PC users would be good at beta testing the dlc while others would not..

But I do not think we will get to beta test dlc.. because if will dl it.. we can copy the files.. upload it to a bit-torrent site.. and then have leaked DLC.. anyone could do that very easily... its just like uploading a mod and the install is just as easy.

Oh I'm more then used to it, I actually got in trouble here in the forums for blasting a PC elitist. I just like to defend my console, and the fact that 9 out of 10 chances they have no clue as to what their talking about

I think its best that its beta tested on BOTH. The PC does have the command prompt to delve into the game on different levels, but the new features of the Kinect should be tested too.

So, what will Bethesda's excuse be when Dawnguard is released buggy as hell even after having "beta testers"?

U mad bro?

This began as a civil discussion. I hope it stays that way. But I am afraid it will now spiral into a platform war. I hope I am wrong.

Of course, there's also plenty of PC gamers who love to sign up for open or closed/lottery betas, just to "get to play the game early".

------
Anyway.... no, I don't necessarily think that PC users would be the best beta testers for the XBox version of the DLC.

Or that PC users (in general) are any better / smarter / whatever than console users.

This.

When I BETA tested Halo 3, it was just as accurate as any PC user could have done. It's about reporting what the bug/glitch is, where/in what sequence of the game it occurs, and as detailed a description of the bug/glitch as you can possibly get. That's what a BETA test is for. To help them pinpoint any bug/glitches that the in-house testers missed.

Anybody on any platform can do this.

Wasn't the topic asking for a platform war in the first place? Surprised it wasn't slammed shut pronto. I'm sure devs are quite aware of how viable each platform is for beta testing.

This. And you beta tested Halo 3? Sounds fun. I beta tested an MMO called Fusion Fall once but that's all i've done so far.

Actually wouldn't xbox be the best for beta testing? No mods to interfere, all the same hardware, where as the pc may encounter problems from mod conflicts, or crashes from hardware issue.

Either way i'm just glad they've adopted the betatest idea, maybe most of the bugs will get ironed out

I do not think there should be elitists at all.. this is a forum for a game.. that should be the only thing discussed.. no matter what console people play on its the same game.
