around 650 hours in the game and i discovered this right now.

where can you do this?

It's in the midden in the college of winterhold. It's by a trapdoor in the living quarters or the courtyard, go down, use the autranoch forge. It's far too well hidden.

It took some time before I realized I could swing my sword on the left side of the horse with the blocking button...

If you follow foxes long enough they lead you to wherever you want to go.
I've tried following foxes they don't lead me anywhere. They just keep going in circles and getting killed =/

Sheathing allows me to not waste an arrow or spell. I wish that tip had come up earlier.
You don't need to sheath your bow to un-knock an arrow, just tap the X button, or it's equivalent on other platforms.

Manually mining ore by swinging a pick axe at an ore vein. I literally had been playing Skyrim for a month before I realized that. I still never use it but it's cool to know all the same.
I tried this and it didn't work.

It works just fine, i do it all the time. Just be sure you hit the ore (hitting rock sound effect). After hitting it enof it has no ore left, and if you check your inventory you have some there (not sure if you get a message). I think u need to hit the ore 3 times.

You can also pick up bodies too, makes them easier to carry and place where you want. Also, if you grab a certain part of the body, you can move them by that. Helps when you are positioning your dead (I put the corpses in their bed so it looks like they died in their sleep by rolling over on a sword). There is also at least one dungeon where you need to put a body on a certain thing to go forward in the dungeon.

I can't say I knew about the equipping picks to mine ore thing until a good time after Skyrim's release.

Did anyone else think of Road Dogg from WWF when they saw the title?

others talked about not being aware that you can pick up items and move them around (a feature that's been in since Morrowind if I remember correctly).

Not sure what you mean with picking up and moving items around, Morrowind didn't have physics and you could only pick up/drop items, you couldn't carry them around like you can in Oblivion and Skyrim.

Nice though, I didn't know you can rotate stuff in loading screen.

You don't need to sheath your bow to un-knock an arrow, just tap the X button, or it's equivalent on other platforms.

On the PC if you sheath your bow while you have an arror pulled in it it won't sheath the bow, juts put the arrow back into quiver. :) Same goes with magic, if you charge up the spell and try to "sheath" your hands it will only discharge the spell, leaving the hands up.

I tried this and it didn't work.

It does, it's just that some veins have too much rocks and wooden beams close and are kinda hard to hit. You'll get updated in the upper left corner that you're getting stuff.
